Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 12 Loves to Prove People Wrong

Adrian's face turned dark again. "Spending someone else's money and acting all high and mighty. And everything she bought was for herself—not a single gift for Adam!" I rolled my eyes in the car, ignoring his complaints. Soon it was evening. After dinner, I changed into a simple black dress and headed to the concert with the group. Our seats were in the second row. As soon as we sat down, Taylor rushed to take the seat next to Aiden. I didn't care. I sat next to Alex instead. The concert began, and Adam took the stage. He wore a sleek black suit, tall and striking. As expected of a top star, he was undeniably handsome. The crowd erupted into deafening cheers. I thought my ears might explode. Over the next hour, Adam performed multiple songs. Then came a special segment. The host walked onstage and said, "Today is Adam's ten-year anniversary. We've prepared a little surprise. We're going to randomly select one lucky fan to come onstage and sing a duet with Adam."The crowd roared again, fans screaming themselves hoarse. A number spun on the screen and finally stopped at 26. Groans and disappointed sighs filled the venue, but people were quickly curious–who was sitting in seat 26? Alex turned to me and said, "No way... Raelyn, that's you!" I blinked. Before I could react, the host announced, "Let's welcome our lucky fan in seat 26!" I narrowed my eyes. What were the chances? I glanced around. Taylor's eyes sparkled with gloating anticipation. Ah. So that's what this is. Someone wants to see me humiliated. Too bad for her;I love proving people wrong. I stood and calmly walked onstage. Adam froze when he saw me. The host smiled and asked, "Wow, you're beautiful! What's your name?" "Raelyn," I answered coolly.A wave of gasps swept through the audience. Even the host looked shocked. Whispers grew louder until they turned into a buzz of gossip and speculation. I rubbed my ears, a little annoyed. Yes, I was that Raelyn–the one engaged to someone from the Eclipse Pack. So what? Whether they were jealous or hateful, I couldn't care less. "Alright," the host continued. "The song we're going to perform is 'Goodnight' by Jennifer Carpenter. Ms. Beck, you've heard of it, right? You only need to join in during the chorus." He held out the mic toward me. I pressed my lips together, then replied calmly, "I've heard it, but I'm tone-deaf. I can't sing. Sorry." Jennifer was a famous but mysterious singer–no one knew what she looked like, but her music was loved around the world. The audience began murmuring. "Get off the stage! This Omega is embarrassing–can't even sing. What does the Eclipse Pack see in her?" "Yeah, don't stand next to my idol. You're just an eyesore.""Raelyn, go away!" I narrowed my eyes. Those people laughing at me must be loving this moment. But like I said, I love to prove people wrong. I smiled, took the mic from the host, and turned to Adam. "I can't sing this song," I said slowly, "but I can play the accompaniment for you." Adam looked at me with clear doubt, but I walked steadily toward the grand piano on stage. The crowd fell silent. The host followed up, a little surprised. "Alright then. Let's quiet down and enjoy a special rendition of 'Goodnight' by Ms. Beck and Adam." I sat at the piano bench, placed my fingers on the keys, and began to play. The moment the melodic intro filled the hall, Adam's expression changed.
