The Rise of the Rejected Luna

Chapter 334

It's been a week now. Vesper seemed to be the one benefitting more from the death of Mr. Thatcher as he felt there was no will to share. Due to Nikolai's absence, his position at the company had gotten pretty high. It was all he's ever wished for. His grandfather had been buried already, but the air at home was always tinged with sadness. He even had to move out of the mansion as he got tired of the unending gloom. He just finished from a meeting and was walking out with his assistant when a call came into his phone. It was Kalina again. He'd lost count of the number of times she had called him for the day, and it was becoming annoying already. Grudgingly, he answered the call. "Finally! Someone decided to take my call." She exclaimed, her voice echoing with anger. "What is going on, Vesper? You have been ignoring me for ages now.""I was in a meeting, okay? And you were interrupting." His reply was peeved. Kalina scoffed, like she couldn't believe it. "Seriously? Now, I'm being a pest? What is going on?" Vesper had gotten into an elevator. He sighed and adjusted his suit. "Listen, I've become pretty busy and you know it. I'd really appreciate it if you stopped acting like I'm a villain. What do you want? Why are you calling?" He asked grumpily. It took half a minute for Kalina to reply as she had still been in shock. "Well, initially, I had been calling to check up on you, but from the look of things, I think I have no other things to check up on." Vesper rolled his eyes. "Please, I have to go. We'll just talk later." He dropped the call before she'd get the chance to object. ****†Adira sat on the cold floor of her cell, her legs shaking from cold. Her hands and legs were huddled together and she rested her head in-between, praying for help. Being there for a week had not been easy for her. She had collapsed some days back after throwing up, and after receiving medical attention, she was returned to her cell. She found it difficult eating, her headaches were refusing to seize, and the pain around her abdomen was still severe. There was never a day she didn't pray for her baby to be safe. Being pregnant in this condition was nothing she ever dreamt of. But it'll ruin her more if she lost the child. Jared had been the only one paying her visits. But on that day, she was told she had visitors. Seeing it was more than one person, she figured it wouldn't be Jared. She followed the officer out of her cell and to the visiting room, and there she found her visitors. It was Bellamy, and a strange man. Adira halted and gave a long stare at the woman. What changed so swiftly in her? This woman had always loved her, how did she change and develope this dislike for her? The Bellamy she knew would've never believed the rumours so easily. She was already sitting with the strange man beside her, and Adira noticed they had some documents in front of them. Heavy-heartedly, she approached them and took a seat. Her hands were still wrapped around her, trying to provide the little warmth they could. Adira didn't know what to say. She was highly disappointed at the woman for abandoning her with the others. She did nothing to deserve this hate from them. "I'll make this as brief as possible." Bellamy started, her voice sounding too serious. "I hate the fact that you're here, and I will not deny how helpful you have been in my son's life. But I think your time in my family is up, so it's best if you left." Opening one of the documents on the table, she took out a piece of paper and passed onto Adira."This is Nikolai's lawyer. Nikolai was already working on divorce papers before the accident. As you can see, he already had plans of divorcing you before the whole mess. So, I want you to move on with it. Sign the divorce papers, Adira, and leave my son's life."
