Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 526 People Outside the Door

Luckily, because they were planning to attack hillside villas the next day, Lisa ordered the labor camp to close for one night so everyone could save their energy for battle. Once they won, they'd reopen it and have their fun. So no one came looking for a good time the night before. Only the two guards on duty helped themselves and sneaked into a room. But those two wanted to try a mother-daughter combo, so they went into Lillian and Rosalie's room. That let Iris escape untouched. But today, she wasn't so lucky. The new guards on shift weren't interested in the injured Lillian and Rosalie. Their eyes were on the quiet, fragile-looking Iris. With limited space, the labor camp placed two people in a room. Iris and Bruno were put together. When the two guards entered, Iris instinctively turned to Bruno for help. But Bruno was still drowning in grief over Whitney's death. He didn't react to anything, just sat on his bed, staring into space. Left with no one to rely on, Iris fought back with everything she had. But she was no match for them. In despair, she slammed her head into one guard's head. Better to die than be defiled, and maybe take one down with her! Her fierceness shocked the guards and pulled Bruno back to reality. Seeing her so fragile yet so tough reminded him of Whitney. Right, Whitney had been killed by these bastards. Bruno snapped out of it, stood up, and joined the fight. As a top-tier bodyguard, he took them down fast.Iris slumped against the door, staring blankly at the heavy iron door. Bruno caught his breath and walked over. Then he kicked the door with all his strength. He had to get out! To avenge Whitney! But no matter how many times he tried, the door didn't budge. Then they heard voices outside the iron door. "Huh? There's someone in here?" Hearing a woman's voice, Iris quickly stood and stepped back. They're back already? She wanted to run to her room, but Bruno was still standing there. She bit her lip and grabbed him, pulling him toward the room. If they faced the Grayhound Sect now, they'd be shot to pieces. The gun she'd grabbed was useless. No way to fight back. But Bruno stood firm, still staring at the door. Iris whispered urgently, "Let's go! If they find us, we're dead! There's another guard's body in the room! We have to move it!" Bruno didn't budge. After Whitney died, he didn't care about anything—not getting caught, not what happened next. He only had one thought: Get out, turn every Grayhound Sect bastard into pulp, and avenge Whitney! Iris watched his stubbornness and clenched her teeth. This guy's lost it! Even if he can fight, can he take on all of them and their guns?If he were that strong, he wouldn't have been caught in the first place! She sighed. If he wouldn't move, hiding in the room was pointless. She took a deep breath. She was influenced by Bruno and felt a surge of courage. You can hide for a while, but not forever. Might as well fight! If she could take one down, it'd be revenge for her mom! With that thought, the usually timid Iris firmly picked up the empty gun—useless for anything but scaring people—and aimed it at the door. Then, a man's voice came from outside. "It's locked. Probably not one of theirs. Must be someone they've locked up." Then a few barks. "Ow, ow, ow!" Then a woman spoke again. "Really? Ugh, the Grayhound Sect bastards never do anything decent." Iris froze for a second. They're not with the Grayhound Sect? From their tone, they clearly hated them too. Her eyes lit up. She dropped the useless gun and started pounding on the door. "I was captured by the Grayhound Sect and locked in here! Can you help me?! "Open the door! Please!" In another room, Lillian and Rosalie heard her shouting. Lillian shot up from the bed. "Is someone out there? Someone's shouting for help in the hallway!" Rosalie sat up too, listening. "Sounds like it's coming from the stairwell door." Then she frowned. "How did a woman get all the way to the iron door? And why aren't the guards stopping her?"
