Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
Natalie gave an affirmative hum. This was the first time since her rebirth that she'd been put in such a passive position. Fortunately, she still had her storage space and blink ability. Even if she was forced to open the gates and hand over weapons, she wouldn't be in any real danger. What worried her most right now was the situation the three little ones were in. How had they been captured? Were they injured? How badly? Natalie had discussed this with Cassian last night. No matter what the situation was when they arrived, as soon as the three little ones showed up, she'd immediately blink over and take them into her storage space. Then she'd properly deal with this audacious gang. Roderick looked at the mention of the Grayhound Sect in the note and suddenly remembered something. "I think the people who invaded the Hillside Villa District yesterday were from the Grayhound Sect!" Ghania was surprised. "How do you know?" Seeing everyone looking at him, Roderick explained, "When I ran into that group in the fog, I heard someone call their leader Mr. Olson." At that moment, Harold also remembered something. "When I was clearing bodies yesterday, I came across one with a strange tattoo." As he spoke, he ran straight outside. After a moment, Harold dragged a corpse inside. As he pulled it in, he called out, "Something's not right!" Olivia went to help him drag it. "What's wrong?" Harold sounded surprised. "The corpse's head was cut off!" Everyone looked down at the ground. Yesterday they'd killed people, but they'd never cut off any heads. Harold pointed at the man's arm. "It's him. He has this really flashy tattoo on his arm!" Everyone looked closely. A wolf was tattooed on it, with the word "Gray" beside it. Natalie looked at the corpse's clothes and recognized it. "This was yesterday's leader. I killed him while I was blinking." "The leader?" Roderick recalled. "Then he must be the deputy leader I heard about. This guy didn't like being called deputy leader. I heard the others calling him Boss." Natalie looked at the headless corpse and made a bold guess. "Looks like the Grayhound Sect isn't exactly harmonious internally." Anyone with the word "deputy" in their title would normally keep their subordinates in line. Whether deputy leader, deputy director, or deputy chief, who would dare to let people call them Boss? Where would that leave the actual boss? If this group dared to call him Boss directly, it meant there must be internal power struggles in this gang. Olivia also spoke up. "No one in the Hillside Villa District would cut off his head and take it. This had to be done by people from their gang. They took it back to report." Ghania sighed. "They didn't even give their own deputy leader a proper burial. They just cut off his head! Looks like Natalie's right. Their gang must have serious internal conflicts." Cassian thought for a moment. "We killed close to two hundred people yesterday. Since their gang is divided into two or even more factions, the remaining members are probably at least two hundred." Roderick frowned. "Yesterday we caught them completely off guard and came out on top. Now the enemy probably already knows our situation. If they come prepared, they'll be hard to deal with." Harold nodded. "Yeah! I saw them with explosives and makeshift guns. Their strength shouldn't be underestimated. Yesterday's leader was only a deputy. The actual leader is probably even tougher to handle."But Olivia had unconditional trust in Natalie. "It's fine. Natalie's here. They can't do anything to us!" Now everyone had a rifle and plenty of ammunition on hand. No matter when the enemy came, they at least had the ability to protect themselves. With Natalie's Blink ability, there was even less to worry about. The group chatted for a while and decided to deal with whatever came their way. When Harold left home this morning, he'd specifically brought tools, planning to help Natalie and the others repair the damaged courtyard gate. After chatting for a bit, he went out to the courtyard alone with his tools. He'd only been working for a short time when he heard the sound of a large group approaching. Hearing the chaotic footsteps, Harold immediately became alert. He stood up and ran toward the villa. "They're here! They're here!" Hearing Harold's warning, everyone inside immediately put on their gas masks and prepared to face the enemy. Before they could even leave the villa, they heard a woman's voice through a loudspeaker. "Mr. Holland, Ms. Ashford, the Grayhound Sect is here to pay a visit! Come out and meet us!" Natalie raised an eyebrow. The enemy had done their homework well—they even knew her name. Although she didn't know how they'd obtained that information, an enemy who came this well-prepared shouldn't be underestimated. The loudspeaker outside continued, "I'm sure you've already received the message. Hurry up and come out, open the gates, and hand over your weapons!" Ghania's temper immediately flared. "Oh wow! Now they're making threats!"
