Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 404 Rosalie's True Parentage Revealed

Rosalie froze for a moment. "Grandma? I don't know where she is." Jacob's face darkened. "Weren't you supposed to go find her? How could you not know?" Find Grandma? Rosalie glanced at Lillian. Did Mom tell Dad that? Watching his daughter look at Lillian, Jacob finally realized what was happening. His face darkened. "Rosalie didn't go to find Mom. She went ... to see Derek, didn't she?!" Lillian linked her arm with Derek's. "Since you already figured it out, I won't hide it. Rosalie is actually my daughter with Derek." That sentence hit Jacob like a lightning bolt. His anger boiled over, and he could barely stay calm. "What did you just say?! "Lillian, this joke has gone way too far! You're not only hurting me, you're hurting Rosalie too!" Lillian rolled her eyes. "I'm not joking. Rosalie isn't your child." Derek looking a little smug as he put his arm around Lillian's shoulders. "Mr. Ashford, I'm sorry, and thank you for taking care of them all these years." He paused and added, "And thanks for helping out at work too. I really appreciate it!" Jacob struggled to catch his breath. It took him a moment to speak. "Appreciate it?" he shouted, pointing at Lillian, shaking. "This is how you thank me?! "No wonder you never got married, always saying you didn't believe in it. Turns out you've been sneaking around with my woman?!" No wonder he always thought Rosalie was a little slow—she wasn't even his child!Lillian, standing off to the side, felt annoyed. "Derek, stop wasting time with him. Let's pack up and leave. This place isn't safe to stay." Derek hesitated. "Are you sure you want to leave?" Lillian nodded. "The Ashford Villa isn't safe anymore, and this place isn't much better. Most importantly, that Natalie is way too dangerous. We need to stay far away from her." Derek thought for a moment and then agreed. "Okay, whatever you say." He asked, "Where are the supplies?" Lillian said, "They're inside the house. Not much left, just enough to last a few months." Derek frowned. "I've already heard from Rosalie about everything that's happened. Aren't you going to try to get the missing supplies back?" He frowned. "Since we didn't take them, most likely it was that Natalie." Lillian pointed to Jacob's injured leg. "So what if she did? She already did this much to him. Maisie still hasn't come back, probably gone for good. How could I even dare look for her?" When Derek stayed quiet, she tried to convince him. "You have to survive to spend what you earn. Let's not risk our lives over a few supplies. It's not worth it." Derek thought a bit longer, then sighed. "Fine, we'll do it your way." Lillian pulled him toward the house, glancing back at Jacob. "I've checked. Jacob doesn't have any other supplies left. From now on, Rosalie and I are counting on you." Derek put his arm around her shoulders. "You've been secretly helping me all this time. Now it's my turn to take care of you two! Don't worry, I won't let you two suffer." Lillian nodded, looking very pleased. Her backup plan really worked. She didn't do much, but she got a lot in return. She put on a sweet smile and said softly, "Derek, you're the best." Jacob watched them acting all lovey right in front of him and almost lost his mind with anger. "You still have the nerve to touch my supplies?!" His whole body trembled. He wanted to beat them so badly, but his legs wouldn't cooperate. When he tried to jump at them, he fell flat on the ground. Rosalie, who had been helping him up, got pulled down too. "Dad ... " The word stabbed Jacob in the heart. He shouted, "I'm not your dad!" Tears welled up in Rosalie's eyes. "But you are ... " Before she could say more, Lillian snapped, "Rosalie, what are you waiting for? Go inside and help move the supplies!" Derek quickly stepped forward to help Rosalie up. "Hey, you two, stop yelling at her. She's just a child. Don't scare her!" He gently patted her shoulder. Jacob was furious, felt like exploding. The driver he had promoted had cheated on him, tricked him into raising someone else's daughter for all these years, and now he acted like a kind father right in front of him! He shouted, cursing loudly, "You cheating scumbags! Get out of here! You're not welcome! Leave this Hillside Villa now!" Rosalie's eyes filled with tears as she looked at Jacob—his face red, eyes full of anger—then at Derek, who was so kind to her. She stomped her foot and ran inside, crying.Derek gave Jacob a smug smile, took Lillian's hand, and followed Rosalie into the house. Jacob still felt completely shocked by the betrayal. Seeing the last of his supplies about to be taken, his whole body trembled with panic and rage.
