Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 372 Those Two Are Shameless

Natalie couldn't help but laugh at how dramatic he was being. Seeing that she finally smiled, Cassian felt a lot more at ease. He reached out and brushed her cheek. "Nattie, you look so pretty when you smile. Don't waste your time being upset over people who aren't worth it. As long as we're together, everything will turn out fine." While the two of them were sharing this sweet moment, Lucky and Cash suddenly started brawling. "Ow ow ow ow ow!" "Coo coo coo! Ooh ooh!" Cash and Lucky chased each other around, with Baron following close behind, trying to break up the fight. It turned out Lucky had teased Cash for being bald and pitch-black, and Cash was mad that Lucky didn't let him in. In no time, the two were jumping all over the place, wrestling. Natalie was about to stop them when Baron got knocked right into her leg while trying to break up the fight. He picked himself up off the floor and looked at his owner with a look of pure misery. Natalie ignored his pitiful puppy eyes and nudged him farther away. Between Cassian's thoughtful gesture and the chaos caused by her three pets, most of the frustration in Natalie's heart faded away. Maybe getting thrown out by Jacob wasn't so bad after all. At least she was with them in the apocalypse—not with someone as petty as Jacob. Having lost the fight, Cash was quickly scooped up by Cassian and dragged off for a bath to scrub away the burned fur.Meanwhile, Natalie was put in a massage chair by Cassian to rest. When night fell and everything was silent, Cassian and the three little ones were fast asleep. Natalie got dressed, left the villa, and stepped out into the darkness. The whole neighborhood was pitch black. The streetlights hadn't worked in ages, and even the candlelight inside the houses was long gone. With her flashlight, Natalie made her way back to her old home, navigating in the dark with ease. From outside, the house looked completely dark. Natalie flashed right into the house. It was around midnight. Suddenly, a thunderous snore rang out from the third floor. The sound was all too familiar. When she was a kid, her paternal grandmother, Maisie, would snore just like that every time she stayed over. But ever since that terrible secret had come to light, her mom had never let her get close to Maisie again, cutting off all contact between them. Natalie frowned. The third floor used to be Grandpa and Grandma's bedroom. Is Maisie staying there now? There was nobody on the first floor. Using her flashlight, Natalie carefully packed everything up into her storage space. Everything. Not just the food in the kitchen and the gas cylinders piled in the corner, but the couch, the coffee table, even useless things like the old floor cleaner and the projector—all of it went into her storage space. Every single thing in this house that had belonged to her grandparents or her mom. She wasn't leaving them a thing. In no time, Natalie had cleared out the entire first floor.Next, she headed down to the basement. The basement was all functional rooms—Scarlett's gym, her home theater, storage room, laundry room, and more. With no electricity, most of these rooms couldn't be used. There was plenty of open space, though, so Jacob and the others had probably stored all their supplies down here. Sure enough, the basement was a mess, packed with food and other essentials. Natalie didn't hesitate to scoop up every last item. They wouldn't even give me a piece of bread in my previous life. This time, I'm not leaving them even a single peanut! After clearing out all the supplies, she went into the storage room. Her mom had specially built this space to keep her antiques safe. Besides her mom's collections, there was also a stash of Jacob's gold. When Lillian and Rosalie moved in, they'd planned to sell off everything for cash, but disaster struck before they could. Now, these things had finally ended up in the hands of their real heiress. As she packed everything away, Natalie couldn't help but think that Jacob had never deserved Scarlett. Their tastes weren't even in the same league. Scarlett's antiques included an ivory koi polished glaze vase, a gold inlay cloud pattern bell, and a gilded ornamental pitcher—each one a true work of art. Jacob's so-called collection? Gold bars, chunky gold chains, and piles of flashy gold jewelry. Their collections made it clear; they were totally different people with no connection on a deeper level. Once the basement was emptied out, Natalie went up to the living quarters on the second floor. Jacob, Lillian, and Rosalie were all sleeping there. She went straight to the closet of Lillian and Rosalie. Or rather, what used to be her and her mom's closet. She looked around and couldn't help but let out a cold laugh. Lillian and Rosalie were true scavengers. Even the old clothes and shoes that she and Scarlett had worn were still here—even the stuff that was long past its prime. She glanced around. The things that were left were all high-end, custom-made pieces. Anything less valuable had already been thrown out by them. Seems like those two aren't just greedy. They're shameless, too. They claim to hate me and Mom, yet here they are, wearing our old clothes and shoes. With a wave of her hand, Natalie swept up all the clothes, shoes, bags, and even the cabinets themselves, packing them into her storage space.
