Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
"Olivia? Are you awake?" Olivia opened the door. "Nat, I just finished packing my things." Natalie said, "Cassian got a truck for us. Move your stuff onto the truck. We won't have to make that many trips." Olivia's eyes lit up. "Awesome." She carried some of her things and followed Natalie downstairs. Seeing the truck, she asked Natalie in surprise, "Nat, that's all you have?" Olivia couldn't believe Natalie had fewer supplies than she did. Natalie responded casually, "I woke up early, so I've brought some stuff over already. These are the last of my boxes." Olivia nodded. "Alright, I'll get the rest of my stuff then." Thinking for a moment, Olivia added, "Nat, since you got the truck, let me pay for the gas." Natalie didn't argue. "Alright." While Olivia was loading her supplies, Natalie went to get Harold. Harold and Ghania were packing their things as well. They had even more supplies than Olivia, so Natalie lent Harold her Ford Transit. This way, he would have two vans to use. Luckily, Ghania could drive as well. They each took one van, while Natalie and Olivia got into the truck, and the four of them headed toward Hillside Villa. They reached Hillside Villa District and unloaded everything. It was agreed that Natalie would stay behind to keep an eye on their supplies while the rest of them made another trip back to move the rest of their things.Olivia stared at the big truck, looking troubled. "I don't know how to drive something like this ... " Natalie was about to say something when Harold raised his hand. "I can." Then, Harold turned to Olivia. "Can you drive the van?" Olivia nodded. "I can handle the van." As such, Harold drove the truck, while Olivia and Ghania each took one van, and they drove back to Maplecourt. Natalie's things had all been moved over already, so she immediately started cleaning up her new place. Lucky and Baron were very excited, jumping around and dashing everywhere. Cash was much calmer, head held high as he slowly walked about. Seeing her puppy and rabbit running around, she warned them, "Don't you dare mark your territory anywhere!" Lucky and Baron immediately obeyed, calming down significantly. Natalie checked the villa thoroughly, making sure that no one else had entered this place overnight. She also made sure there were no hidden cameras or listening bugs. Satisfied, Natalie started to clean the place up. Anything from her old place that she didn't use regularly was kept in the storage space. She left everything else that she used regularly in the house. Once all the rooms were cleaned, Natalie started taking supplies out of the storage space and putting them into the respective rooms. Meanwhile, at Maplecourt, the move had attracted the other neighbors' attention. "Look, it's those people from Building 6. Are they moving?" "Yes! I saw that psycho loading things onto a truck this morning.""What's going on? Is it not safe anymore?" Their move had attracted some panic from many of the residents. People tended to be fascinated by the lives of the rich. After surviving several rounds of the apocalypse, Natalie and her friends in Building 6 had become something of a yardstick for the whole neighborhood. Seeing that all of them were suddenly moving away, the neighbors were starting to panic. Seeing that Natalie wasn't there, a few of the braver ones worked up the courage to ask, "Hey, why are you guys moving? Do you know something?" Harold glanced at them, warily protecting their loaded supplies. Olivia shot him a look, telling him to continue loading his things and that she would deal with them. "We've been rounded up as special personnel to help build the official base," Olivia answered. "Special personnel?" Some of the neighbors were confused. Olivia nodded. When you're out in the world, your identity is whatever you make of it. Olivia was not going to tell them that they were moving to Hillside Villa. If everyone moved there as well, it would be a total mess. Someone worked up the courage to ask, "I want to work for them as well. Can you refer me for some work too?" Olivia glanced at him, making it up as she went along. "We can't do that. The official base needs to approach you directly." Some of them looked disappointed and could only look longingly at the supplies on their truck and vans. Olivia raised her pistol. "Any more questions?" The few neighbors quickly backed off and left. "Sorry to bother you!" At Hillside Villa, Natalie was in the midst of patching up the villa's outer wall when two people approached her. "Hey! Who are you? I've never seen you before!" Natalie looked up, noticing two women dressed in Chanel from head to toe. One of them was about her age, while the other was a woman in her 40s or 50s. Seeing Natalie, the younger woman called out in surprise, "Natalie? I can't believe it's you!" Natalie heard someone call her name and figured that it was someone she should know. However, even after a moment's deliberation, she couldn't recognize the woman standing before her. The younger woman did indeed look familiar, but Natalie couldn't think of her name. Seeing this, the woman got annoyed. "Natalie, are you ignoring me again?"
