Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 307 Billion Dollar Necklace

But Roderick still answered honestly. "That's right." Cassian asked, "What was your wife's reaction?" Roderick replied, "She was really happy!" Cassian frowned. Seeing him suddenly go quiet, Roderick called out to him twice. Cassian had a thoughtful, furrowed-brow expression. "Mr. Holland?" Cassian snapped back to reality. He asked again, "If a woman suddenly asks whether you're really rich, what does that mean?" Roderick finally caught on. This bachelor was completely clueless about romance. He had run into relationship troubles. He found Cassian's serious expression somewhat amusing. So even the high and mighty boss has problems he couldn't figure out? But he still answered as seriously as possible. "She probably wants to get to know you better." Cassian nodded. That's what he'd thought too. "So how should I respond?" Roderick said, "Tell her the truth." Cassian nodded again. That step wasn't wrong either. Roderick finally couldn't help but ask. "Mr. Holland, you're talking about you and Ms. Ashford, right?" Since Cassian had specifically come back to get advice, he didn't avoid the topic. He answered frankly, "Yes."Roderick's curiosity was piqued. Tonight's pillow talk with his wife would have some juicy content. He could share gossip about his boss. He eagerly asked, "What did you tell Ms. Ashford?" Cassian answered truthfully, "I told her about all the warehouses in the area. Then I said those things were hers too. I could take her to see them." Roderick's eyes lit up. As expected of Mr. Holland! So smooth! He's acting like a pro in his first relationship. What girl could resist that? He asked excitedly, "Was Ms. Ashford really touched?" Cassian pressed his lips together. "She didn't really react." Roderick's eyes widened. "She was that calm about it?" On second thought, that made sense. Ms. Ashford was indeed the type who could keep a straight face. She'd stay calm even if the sky was falling. Maybe she was just secretly happy inside without showing it. But then Cassian continued, "Well, she did react. She punched me afterward. Then, she went out by herself. She didn't take me along." Roderick was speechless. His face showed complete disbelief. "Why would she do that!" Cassian looked at him with dissatisfaction. "That's what I'm asking you." Roderick was stumped. His wife was a normal woman. But Natalie clearly wasn't! When he'd sincerely handed over his property deeds, keys, and savings to his girlfriend back then, she'd been very touched. His entire fortune had impressed her. The proposal and wedding had all followed naturally afterward. Fine, so Natalie wasn't moved. But why punch Cassian? The two grown men sat on the couch deep in thought, but neither could figure it out. After a while, Cassian said, "Never mind, you can go back now." He'd seen how loving Roderick and his wife were. He thought Roderick might have some insights. Now it seemed Natalie really wasn't someone just anyone could understand. He'd better figure it out himself. Roderick stood up awkwardly. In all these years, this was the first time Cassian had asked for his opinion. He wanted advice on decision-making. And he'd let his boss down? That won't do! Mr. Holland is my bread and butter now. As his most capable assistant, how could I disappoint him at a time like this? He might not understand women's hearts. But he had plenty of experience when it came to making women happy! So he suggested, "Mr. Holland, you can't go wrong with gifts. If you're generous, she won't stay mad." Cassian looked up at him. "Gifts?" Roderick nodded. "Right. Give her lots of gifts she likes. Even if she's not happy, she definitely won't be angry." Then he scratched his head. "Whenever I made my wife upset, I'd buy stuff like diamond rings and diamond bracelets. I always cheered her up real quick." Cassian looked thoughtful. It seemed like when he'd given Natalie those two emeralds before, she'd been pretty happy indeed. So he waved his hand. "Find me emeralds!" Roderick stood at attention. "Yes, Mr. Holland!" Just as he was about to turn and leave, Cassian called him back. "Wait." "It needs to be better than last time." Roderick looked distressed. "Mr. Holland, anything better than that would cost over a billion." Cassian was unfazed. "Find one worth over a billion." Roderick said, "The Northern Warehouse doesn't have any. We'd probably need to go to the Southern Warehouse. Time-wise ... " Cassian frowned and thought for a moment. Then he asked, "What about that Heart of Winter necklace?" Roderick thought about it and replied, "That one's in the Northern Warehouse." Cassian smiled. "That's the one." Natalie had said yesterday that she loved winter and snow. This would be perfect. Roderick replied, "Got it, Mr. Holland." Before he could walk out the door, Cassian added another instruction. "Don't drive. Take the helicopter. I'll wait here for you." Roderick nodded and quickly headed out. He sighed. Cassian was usually such a mature person. But falling in love seemed to have suddenly turned him into someone with no patience at all.
