Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 230 There's No Antidote

Fearing that scratching would worsen the wounds, they didn't dare scratch. They hurried upstairs to apologize to Ghania, looking thoroughly ashamed. As they passed the 14th floor, Natalie had just finished installing her security camera and was on her way back home. She watched the two of them shuffling by, looking as miserable as if the world had ended. What are those two clowns up to now? Brandon didn't even try to flirt with Natalie. He just forced out a weak, miserable grin and raced up the stairs. Natalie glanced at the bluish wound on his face and shut her door thoughtfully. Looks like those two got what was coming to them from Harold and Ghania. Serves them right. 15th floor. The pair soon arrived at Ghania's door. This time, they didn't dare curse or shout, and even their knocking was much softer. Dorothy hunched over and said softly, "Ghania, open up. We're here to apologize." Brandon shrank behind her, terrified that another arrow might come flying out. They knocked for a while, but the door didn't open. Instead, the little shooting hole opened up again. Brandon saw it and immediately turned to run down the stairs. He only stopped once he was around the corner, where he couldn't be hit. Dorothy kept bowing at the door. "Please! Please don't shoot us! We're not here to make trouble! We're here to apologize! Please, Ghania, have mercy and give us the antidote!" She put her hands together and bowed deeply to the door. Ghania's voice came from inside, "How do you plan to apologize?" Dorothy thought she saw hope and started slapping herself repeatedly, tears streaming down her face. One slap on the left. "I'm a terrible person!" A slap on the right. "I have a filthy mouth!" Another slap on the left. "I talk nonsense all the time!" And one on the right. "I falsely accused good people!" She kept slapping herself, but there was no response, so she kept pleading. "Please, I'm really sorry. Please give us the antidote! Brandon is the only one left to carry on the Huxley bloodline. You're a mother too, so you should be able to understand what I'm talking about. Please, I'm begging you!" At last, Ghania spoke up again. "What are you talking about? I don't see your son." Dorothy quickly turned and shouted, "Brandon, get over here and apologize!" Brandon poked his head out. "I'm scared ... What if she tricks me and shoots me again?" Dorothy was desperate. "If she shoots you, then so be it! If you mess up, you have to pay the price! Get over here!" She gave him a look, and when he still hesitated, she lost her patience. "Do you want to just go home and wait to die?" They'd never seen blue poison like this in the village. Who knew how long it would take before it killed them?Dorothy was panicking, terrified that another minute's delay would mean death for her son. Brandon glanced at the blue wound on his shoulder and finally walked to the door with gritted teeth. Maybe apologizing would give us a shot. I'll just swallow my pride and be done with it! Hmph! "Ghania, I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I swear I won't say anything stupid ever again." There was only silence inside. Dorothy started to worry. Did we take too long and make her mad again? She grabbed her son's head and pushed him down, saying, "Hurry up and bow to Ghania and say sorry." He bowed several times before a voice finally came from inside. "You two can go home. There's no antidote." Dorothy burst into tears. "Ghania, please, don't do this! We really know we were wrong. We don't deserve to die!" Ghania explained, "Relax, the poison isn't fatal. It just makes you itch. Give it some time to wear off, and it'll go away." Dorothy breathed a huge sigh of relief. Brandon, though, looked up and exclaimed, "What? Why didn't you say that sooner? You made us bow and slap ourselves for nothing! Are you just messing with us?" Dorothy quickly cut him off, "Brandon! Shut your mouth!" We are still in her attack range. Why is he running his mouth again? Sure enough, Ghania sneered from inside, "Want something deadly? I can give you that right now!"They heard the sound of a crossbow being loaded. Dorothy knocked her head on the ground. "Sorry, sorry! It's my fault for not raising him better!" Brandon caught on and quickly apologized too. "Sorry, Ghania! Please have mercy!" Ghania snorted, "I've got plenty of weapons and poison here. Try anything again and I'll let you sample them all!" Dorothy said, "Ghania, don't worry. We'll never bother you again." Brandon nodded frantically. "Whenever I see you or Harold, I'll go the other way!" Ghania said, "Get lost!" Hearing that, Dorothy and Brandon rushed away as if something scary was chasing them. Inside Unit 1402, Natalie sat at her computer with a cup of coffee. Watching the pair scrambling away on her surveillance feed, she couldn't help but let out an amused smile.
