Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 229 What Do We Do Now?

After a long while, when he was sure it was safe outside, Brandon finally unlocked the door. The first thing he said was, "Mom, help me get these arrows out! I can't pull them out by myself!" Ghania's last two arrows had landed right on their butts. Now each of them had two arrows in their bodies: one in the shoulder and one in the backside. Dorothy had been locked out for ages and was furious, but when she saw how pitiful Brandon looked, her anger gave way to worry. She rushed to check his wounds, completely forgetting about the arrows stuck in her own body. "Don't move, Brandon. Let me take care of it!" It took forever, but eventually they managed to pull out the arrows and stop the bleeding by pressing cloths to their wounds. Brandon lay facedown on the couch, whining. Absentmindedly, he touched his face, only to realize it was cut, too. He got all worked up. "Great, now my face is ruined! The pretty girl on the 14th floor is definitely going to turn me down!" Dorothy had lost so much blood in the past few days that she looked deathly pale. She wiped sweat from her forehead and tried to comfort him, "She won't turn you down. Scars make men look tougher. A little gash like that doesn't hurt your looks at all." Brandon kept his hand over his face. "You're right ... " His parents had always praised him nonstop, and nobody in the village ever dared offend him, so he'd grown up convinced he was the best-looking guy around. "Just remember to help me propose to her as soon as you can. It's rare to find a woman good enough for me."Dorothy was at a loss for words. After all that chaos, they hadn't gotten any supplies, and he was still thinking about that little tramp! She was about to say something when she noticed something odd about his wound. Dorothy quickly pulled her son over. "Brandon, why does your wound look kind of blue?" Brandon was stunned. "Huh? No way ... " He turned his head and saw that the arrow wound on his shoulder really did have a bluish tint. He yelled, "Why is my blood blue?" Then he glanced at his mom's shoulder and saw the same thing. Before he could say anything, Dorothy was already tugging his pants down. "Let me see the wound on your backside!" Her face fell as soon as she saw it. "It's blue, too!" She panicked. "Do you feel sick anywhere? How could your blood turn blue?" Brandon checked her shoulder and then her leg, then figured it out and said through gritted teeth, "Mom, the arrows were poisoned." Dorothy's eyes went wide. "What?" She looked at the wound on her own shoulder, then at her calf. Sure enough, the arrow wounds were blue, but her old dog bite was still red. Dorothy was furious. "That crazy woman! She put poison on the arrows! She's really trying to kill us!" Her anger quickly turned to fear. "What do we do now, son? What should we do?"In her mind, being poisoned meant death was just around the corner. Brandon panicked even more. "What else can we do? We have to go upstairs and make them give us the antidote!" Dorothy quickly grabbed him. "Don't go! You'll only get killed faster!" Brandon froze where he was. She's right. We were lucky that woman wasn't a good shot and didn't hit anything vital. If we go back, she might really kill us for good this time. He paced back and forth in a panic. "What are we supposed to do? I haven't even gotten married yet. I can't die now!" Dorothy started to cry. "Nobody in this building is normal! Every one of them is dangerous. They didn't even think twice about hurting people!" Scared they'd die from the poison and not knowing what to do, both of them started wailing. Meanwhile, the mood in Unit 1402 was completely different. Maybe it was because Natalie set strict rules, or maybe Cash and Lucky had gotten smarter from drinking the spring water every day, but they had started getting along surprisingly well. There was never any chaos in the house anymore. Natalie was curled up on the couch, sorting the supplies she'd brought back from Cassiland Base. She glanced over her shoulder to see Lucky at her feet, with Cash lounging on Lucky's back. Seeing how calm and well-behaved they were, Natalie took out two bowls of spring water from her storage space and set them out for them. Then she pulled out a bunch of surveillance equipment. She'd found all of it in Magnus and Kelvin's villa. She'd worried there might be bugs or cameras hidden in the inner villas, but it turned out they'd installed all of it in their own place. She picked the easiest one to install, planning to set it up outside the hallway door. That way, she'd be able to see what was going on outside without leaving home. It was a lot more convenient than peeking through the peephole. Meanwhile, after rounds of discussion, Dorothy and Brandon finally decided to go to the 15th floor to ask Ghania for an antidote. Maybe it was just their imagination, but ever since they saw their wounds turn blue, both of them felt like the spot was getting itchier by the minute.
