Theresa, the Doomsday Queen
Everyone snapped back to their senses after hearing Louisa's words. She pushed open the cabinet blocking them behind the cashier counter and made space for them to come through. After getting the three of them inside, she turned and followed Theresa out. Zombies were gathering from every direction, filling the entire street and every shop. Dominic was shocked to see that it looked like an invisible barrier was keeping all the zombies away. They opened their bloody mouths and twisted faces, ready to pounce. Those gaping red mouths looked like bottomless pits that could bite through their throats, tear at their flesh, rip open their stomachs, and shred their insides. But right now, all the zombies were stuck in front of them, only a few feet away, unable to break through. Dominic stared at the scene in disbelief. His gaze slowly moved to Theresa, who was leading the way. She held a knife as she walked through the zombie crowd like she was walking on solid ground. Waves of invisible energy rippled from her body. Dominic finally understood what was happening. "Louisa, that fire-based ability just now wasn't from you?" Louisa turned and looked at her brother like he was some strange creature. "Dominic, did a zombie eat your brain? How could I possibly have that kind of ability?" Dominic froze, unable to speak. Liam, who was next to him, reacted a moment later. "Holy crap! It's that girl!" "What girl? Call her Theresa!" Louisa said.By then, they had already run through the long hallway of the underground mall. The Aeroshield around them kept all the zombies away as they reached the exit. Outside, the view was nothing but a sea of zombies. They swarmed like crowds rushing for a store sale, piling in one after another. Then, with a loud whoosh, flames rose outside the Aeroshield. A huge wave of fire erupted, burning every zombie within ten feet in an instant. The people protected inside the Aeroshield couldn't help swallowing hard at what they saw. What kind of power is this? Is this woman even human? "My ability is nothing compared to hers," Louisa said. "Mine's just a tiny flame." She used to think she was a genius, but after seeing Theresa, she knew she would never say that again. Behind her, Dominic and Liam thought back to the night before, when they had bragged to Theresa. They had said they would protect her and that everything would be fine with them around. Now, thinking about it, they wanted to dig a hole and hide. How could they have said that in front of someone so strong? The craziest part was that Theresa never laughed at them or showed off. They had never imagined she was on a completely different level. Just as Theresa and the group were about to get out of the sea of zombies, the ground beneath them started to shake again.Boom! Boom! Boom! Loud thuds came from the distance. When Dominic and the others looked up, they saw a massive creature running out from behind the train station. "It's that thing!" It was the super-evolved zombie that had chased them through the fog last night. Theresa looked up and saw a giant zombie about five times the size of a normal person, standing about ten feet tall. Its whole body was covered in swollen, muscle-like lumps that looked like festering boils. The overdeveloped muscles around its shoulders made it look like it had no neck. Its mouth was huge, wide enough to bite off a human head in one go. The eyes were squeezed small by the mouth's size, but they were the same cloudy gray-white color that all zombies had. The way those eyes swept over them sent chills down everyone's spine. The scariest thing wasn't its looks or its size. It was the fact that it was holding something. The giant zombie was running through the crowd of zombies while swinging a huge advertising board. Each swing sent countless zombies flying. It actually knew how to use tools. Theresa's eyes hardened as she looked at the zombie holding the weapon. Up to now, the smartest one she had ever met was the Level 4 mental manipulation zombie, the one that could hide. But this one actually knew how to use a weapon. In her last life, when she didn't have any powers, Theresa had always played it safe and rarely went outside. The strongest zombie she had ever killed was Level 3. Everything she knew about high-level zombies came from rumors because very few people had ever seen one. It was rare for zombies to evolve that far, even harder than humans gaining abilities. And now, one that could use tools was standing right in front of them. Her thoughts lasted no more than a second. The giant zombie had already run several more steps and was right in front of them. Theresa looked at the charging monster, her eyes turning serious.
