Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze

Chapter 530 The Night Hunt

"Do you have a plan?" Flynn asked, seeing that Baron wasn't worried at all. Baron nodded. "Yes. There's only one way to stop Loretta from getting there: make sure she has a car accident on the way." "Don't cause any fatalities!" Waylon quickly cautioned him, knowing Baron's identity as a Godfather. Baron laughed. "Dad, don't worry. I have a family now, and I won't be reckless. I won't seriously injure her; the goal is just to delay her for a while. However, our actions must be quick and precise. We can't afford any mistakes, or everything will fall apart. Also, I have a hunch that Rachel won't put all her hope on Jensen. Although he is Rachel's biological son, Jensen still doesn't know his identity. Given Rachel's caution, she wouldn't completely entrust her life to one person." When he said this, Natalie frowned slightly. "Are you implying that Rachel is likely manipulating us?" "We can't be sure, so right now, we need to be prepared for her to trick us." The others fell silent upon hearing Baron's words. This Rachel had been in the Stone family for over twenty years, and they had failed to see her malicious intentions. The intensity of Ruby's former affection for Rachel was matched only by her hatred for her now. "The woman is indeed cunning. We were overseas before, so we were unaware of her contacts, but she only just returned to the country. She shouldn't have any external help, should she? Otherwise, why would she have to resort to finding Jensen, her son, who knows nothing?" Baron listened to their analysis, then shook his head. "I don't think Rachel would return to the country so brazenly without external support. Anna was just a pawn; there must be someone else behind her." Everyone fell silent once more. Just as everyone was at a loss for words, Natalie suddenly recalled something. "Wait, you mentioned earlier that Jensen disappeared inexplicably from 'home'? Where was this 'home'? It couldn't have been Grand Pavilion, could it?" At Natalie's words, Baron was instantly stunned. Didn't Jensen give Grand Pavilion to Natalie? Even though he didn't particularly want Natalie to live there, they had broken up, and it was a house gifted to an ex-girlfriend—why would Jensen still be staying there? A knot immediately formed in Baron's stomach. He was very uncomfortable! Flynn looked at Baron. "That's a question for our brother-in-law. After all, he took the call." Natalie saw Baron’s gloomy expression and knew what was bothering him. She said quietly, "I'll sell that villa right away. I never planned to live there anyway, so it's better to sell it than let it sit empty." Baron’s expression brightened slightly. "Fine, I'll have someone list it." "Okay, you handle it." Natalie had no objection. Seeing Natalie's attitude, Baron couldn't really be jealous anymore; after all, she had handled it perfectly. He asked quietly, "It seems he disappeared inexplicably from Grand Pavilion, Wife. Do you have any idea how he could have been kidnapped out of thin air?" Everyone immediately looked at Natalie when Baron asked the question. Natalie rubbed the back of her head, looking a little embarrassed, and smiled. "I think I might know, but I'm not entirely sure." "Elaborate." Baron was clearly interested. Natalie cleared her throat. "Didn't I rarely go out before? One reason was that after leaving the Summers family, I didn't really want to face old acquaintances. The other reason was that Jensen was quite insecure about me. He always worried that if I went out looking like this, I'd attract unwanted attention, and to keep him from worrying, I just stayed home. But sometimes I needed to go out, so I secretly had a back door installed behind the villa."Baron was listening with interest, but after Natalie finished speaking, his face darkened. "Jensen wouldn't let you go out? He dared to put you under house arrest?" Ruby and Waylon’s expressions changed as well, and Flynn looked ready to pick a fight with someone. Natalie felt her heart warm at their concern. "It wasn't exactly house arrest. He didn't have anyone watching me; he just occasionally mentioned that if I went out looking like this, people would take notice, and he wouldn't feel secure. I was a bit blinded by love at the time, wasn't I? I thought since he minded, I just wouldn't go out. But sometimes I still needed to socialize, so to avoid unnecessary arguments, I secretly installed a small, hidden door in the back." It was clear from Natalie’s words how deep her feelings for Jensen once were, and how subservient she had been in that relationship.
