Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze
"Daddy, if Grandma knew about you using her name to fool my sister like this, do you think she might visit you in your dreams tonight?" "What are you constantly watching, little man? You need to believe in science, got it? When a person dies, the light goes out. There’s no such thing as what you’re talking about. So, you brat, be a good son to me while I’m still alive, because you won't get another life with me; this is the only one we have as father and son." Baron vigorously rubbed Sean’s head, messing up his neat hair. This time, however, Sean did not resist. Baron's comment about only having this one life together as father and son made him feel strangely uneasy. Natalie saw this and quickly calmed the children down, then began to tell a story. Her voice was soft and gentle, carrying a hint of lazy relaxation after a busy day, like a graceful cat, making one want to hold her close and never let go. Slowly, the children fell asleep. After Natalie lightly covered them with a blanket, Baron took her hand and led her out of the children's room. Outside, Waylon and Flynn were already waiting in the living room. Natalie paused slightly when she saw them, then instinctively looked at Baron. Baron simply smiled and said, "Honey, let’s go catch a ghost tonight." Natalie looked at the sparkle in Baron’s eyes and suddenly found it amusing. "You just told Sean to believe in science." "The ghost we’re catching today isn’t the unscientific kind." Baron took Natalie’s hand, pulled her to the sofa to sit down, and personally poured her a glass of warm water.Waylon watched his actions, which were identical to his own, and felt a sense of approval. He found his son-in-law more and more satisfactory. Flynn looked down on Baron’s eagerness, which made him, the older brother, feel completely useless. He had also wanted to pour his sister water just now, but since Baron beat him to it, he simply drank the water himself. Baron finished his task and sat down beside Natalie. He then recounted the conversation with Hansel about Jensen. Natalie was momentarily stunned when she heard "LN-380." Baron sensitively noticed her reaction. "What is it? Is there really a plane with that number?" "No." Natalie shook her head, her expression slightly strained. "LN-380 is a jewelry series I planned to design, intended to be worn for his wedding. Since I didn’t know when the wedding would be, I never actually designed it, but the series name had been decided long ago. I kept it on a computer disc. Later, the disc was destroyed, and the design concept no longer existed." Speaking of the wedding she had once anticipated, Natalie felt a pang of sadness. Five years of a relationship ended that way. She didn't feel she had done anything wrong, yet she felt a lingering discomfort, like a regret. Baron understood after she explained it. Natalie realized that the possessive Baron was sitting next to her, and quickly added, "Don’t misunderstand. I no longer love Jensen, and this series will never be created now." "I believe my wife."Baron smiled gently, not showing any signs of anger. Natalie felt much more at ease seeing this. Baron then offered some suggestions regarding the eight o’clock timeline Jensen had mentioned. "I think we shouldn't go at eight o’clock. We need to deploy earlier. No one knows what the situation is like with Jensen, and Hansel’s words suggest there's a conflict between Loretta and Rachel. I suspect it’s about Jensen’s parentage, and Loretta is afraid Rachel will expose it. So, Loretta will definitely try to intercept Rachel before we do. But Rachel cannot fall into Loretta’s hands, or we will lose our lead to the information we need." Waylon agreed with Baron’s assessment. "What do you suggest?" Baron smiled somewhat maliciously and said, "If we can’t get Rachel before Loretta does, then we simply need to ensure Loretta can’t get there at all." "That would be difficult." Natalie spoke up when she heard this. "Loretta cares deeply about Jensen as her son. To be honest, if I didn't know the truth, I wouldn't believe Loretta isn't Jensen’s biological mother. She has truly done a lot for Jensen. Not only has she poured years of effort into him, but the bond between mother and son is clearly there. Furthermore, Jensen’s position now concerns Loretta’s own future security, so she won't abandon him." Baron nodded, hearing Natalie’s analysis. "Yes, I agree with my wife. That’s precisely why we need to stop Loretta from getting there."
