He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 248 The Final Act

Carolyn's legs gave out. She nearly collapsed to the floor. Something felt terribly wrong—her breathing grew labored, her arms heavy and numb. The snake venom was taking effect. The antidote in Chloe's hand was her only hope. "Chloe, I was wrong," Carolyn choked out, dropping to her knees. "I lost my mind. How could I ever hurt you? I just... I complained to Emily. Why is it that we're both from the Lewis family, but you're always ahead? Even Oralia adores you." Her voice grew weak. "We got a little mixed up about the whole set visit deal. I was humiliated in front of everyone. I felt so sad. Emily said we should just scare you a little. I never thought she'd go so far for me. I'm sorry! Please let me go!" Carolyn struggled forward on her knees. "Chloe, please—we're sisters. Give me the antidote. I'll do anything you say." Chloe's eyes fell on the phone Carolyn was clutching. So that was it—she'd turned on her recorder. All that tearful regret was just an act, meant to gather sympathy online if things went wrong. Too bad. She wouldn't give Carolyn that opportunity. "Carolyn, your acting is impressive. What a shame... you won't get another scene." Before Chloe finished speaking, the door opened and someone walked in. Carolyn stared in shock. She stood frozen, unable to move. "You..." Never in her worst dreams did she expect to see Emily standing there, unharmed. Wasn't she taken by the police? As a suspect, shouldn't she be locked up? Why was she here, safe and sound? Unless... This was all a setup? Emily walked to Chloe's side. She looked at Carolyn, and the old admiration in her eyes was gone. All that remained was cold disgust. "Carolyn, so many of us fans have always supported you, stuck by you quietly through everything. We've tried so hard, done so much—all for you! But what about you? You're so cold-blooded, so ruthless... You've been toying with us fans who love you like we're nothing. You've let every single one of us down—utterly." "Emily, I—" Carolyn stumbled forward, panic making her unsteady. She fell hard. "Ugh!" she groaned. The bite on her finger had turned dark purple. Seeing the vial in Chloe's hand, she went pale with terror. "Chloe, I'm begging you. I'll do anything. Please give me the antidote," she pleaded, reaching out weakly. All she wanted was to live. Chloe ignored her. She didn't even look her way. Desperate, Carolyn tried to call her mother, but the call wouldn't go through. This stupid set—what a terrible place."I'm sorry. I was jealous. I wanted to be friends with Oralia, but she's close to you. I... I just wanted to scare you with the snake." Carolyn fell back to her knees, begging. "I never meant to really hurt you." "Carolyn, you paid someone to tamper with the horses' feed and cause chaos. Please come with us for questioning." With that, police officers entered and showed a warrant. Carolyn's panic surged. No—it wasn't possible. She'd covered her tracks so well. How did they find out? "You bribed the delivery worker. He confessed everything. Ms. Carolyn Lewis, you're young, but your methods are vicious. Ten thousand dollars was all it took for him to talk. What a waste of your acting talent. If you'd behaved, Kellian Media could've made you a lead. Too bad... you'll spend the rest of your life repenting in prison." Landon walked in calmly and leaned against the doorframe. His face was serious, but he looked almost amused. Carolyn's legs failed her again. She crumpled to the floor. How could this happen? The police didn't wait. They pulled her up and locked handcuffs around her wrists. In that moment, pure fear swallowed her. "No, don't take me! I'll apologize! I'll apologize to Chloe!" Carolyn cried, her voice wild and broken. "I was bitten by a snake! I need the antidote or I'll die! Chloe, please—give me the antidote!" As they dragged her away, she screamed toward Chloe. Chloe simply tossed the vial into the trash. "I don't want to die! Please, save me!" Carolyn's voice rose to a raw, desperate scream. "Carolyn, look at yourself. It's pathetic," Emily said, her voice cold. "If you're so afraid now, did you ever think how your victims felt when you tried to hurt them?" She paused, then delivered the final blow. "There was never any snake. This is all your own guilt eating you alive."
