He Cheated. I Rose.
Landon listened to all this and couldn't help shaking his head. It was hopeless—his boss had it bad for love. After leaving Villa No.1, Chloe walked home. It wasn't far—just a short distance in the same neighborhood. She had barely opened her door when Robert greeted her. "Everything's clear now. It was that two-faced Carolyn." Robert laid out everything he'd uncovered. He'd even discovered how Carolyn tried to pin everything on Emily. If things blew up, Emily would take the blame. Plus, Carolyn was also injured during the incident. No one would suspect her. And the first one to run into trouble just happened to be the mastermind. What a twisted plan. "Mommy, Carolyn was asking for trouble. She even went after you, of all people. And she nearly got Oralia hurt. If she'd just played the Lewis family's perfect little daughter, we might've let her slide. "But no, she had to push her luck. Fine, then. We'll teach her a lesson—show her what happens when you mess with the wrong person." Robert rubbed his nose, a cocky, confident smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "I don't put up with defiance. Not from anyone." Chloe listened calmly as Robert laid out Carolyn's schemes, her expression cool. She'd known Carolyn was bound to stir up trouble sooner or later—but she hadn't expected this level of cruelty, going after Oralia like that. Carolyn had brought this on herself. No need to hold back now. When it came to harming others, there were only zero times or countless times. Since there had been a first time, there would definitely be a second. But Carolyn wasn't going to get another chance to pull something like this. No matter what consequences came her way, she had brought them all on herself. ***** On set, everything was running like clockwork. Carolyn and the male lead had just wrapped their scene. They were now on a short break, grabbing water before Carolyn's next scene—this one opposite Oralia. In the rest area, Emily hurried over with a freshly made lemon tea. She'd prepared it herself. Carolyn had asked to try her special recipe—so Emily put her heart into it. Without proper tools, she'd even borrowed similar ones from the crew. "Carolyn, taste it. I only added three-quarters sugar." Emily handed her the cup carefully. "What took you so long? I've been waiting forever." Carolyn snatched the drink, annoyed. Emily checked the time. It had only been three minutes. Carolyn had just finished her scene—how was that slow?"I made extra. I'll share it with the crew," Emily said, turning to do what she usually did. "No need. Fix my hair again. That makeup artist is useless compared to you," Carolyn said, sipping her tea and giving Emily no room to argue. Emily looked at the large jug of lemon tea she'd spent two hours preparing. Her whole thing was to help Carolyn win more favor with everyone. Before, Carolyn always asked her to prepare snacks and drinks for everyone. Why the sudden change today? Oralia was much easier to get along with. When Emily was squeezing lemons backstage, Oralia told her not to overwork herself, took a friendly selfie with her, and even gave her a signed photo with a personal note. Before joining the crew, Carolyn had promised to get her an autograph—guess that promise was forgotten. Emily wanted to say something, but she held back and started fixing Carolyn's hair again. Just then, Carolyn spotted someone and nearly dropped her cup. Chloe. She was here again. Like a bad penny. Was she visiting the set again? At that thought, Carolyn's expression darkened. Seeing Chloe standing there perfectly fine made her furious. Chloe should have been bitten by that snake and gone for good. That would have been perfect. Soon, Carolyn noticed Chloe wasn't alone. There were uniformed officers with her—police. Her heart jumped. Her hand tightened, crushing the paper cup. Lemon tea splashed everywhere. "Carolyn, are you okay?" Emily asked, concerned. "What kind of cheap cup is this? And you—can't you do anything right? Completely useless." Carolyn stood up abruptly, glared at the mess on the ground, then flicked her hand and walked away. Emily stood there, staring at the sticky puddle. Then she crouched down and began cleaning up. Oralia was happy to see Chloe, but when she noticed the police, she looked confused. "Chloe, what's happening?" "The incident before wasn't no accident—it was intentional. Mr. Merrow called the police. They're here to investigate," Chloe explained briefly. Soon, Brian arrived with his assistant. He looked serious, his jaw set with quiet resolve. His eyes swept over everyone present, sharp and unflinching, as he told his assistant, "Gather everyone in the main hall. Everyone—no one gets to sit this out. Since this happened, we're finding out who's responsible." Carolyn, who had just stepped away, heard Brian's voice. Her heart dropped like a lead weight.
