He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 226 The Name That Stopped Henry

The security team closed in as they prepared to escort Carolyn from the lounge right now. "Get your hands off me!" she shrieked, jabbing a finger toward the nearest guard. "If any of you lay a hand on me, you're going to be fired!" Her voice trembled with rage as she scanned their faces. "Just you wait—Mr. Merrow will be here any moment. When he arrives, he'll personally deal with this situation." She mentally calculated the timing—Henry should have received her messages and would be arriving shortly. The moment he appeared, these insolent security guards would regret crossing her. She already pictured each of them begging for mercy. "Mr. Vick, please slow down! Wait up..." A voice echoed from the corridor, cutting through the tension. Carolyn recognized it as Henry's personal assistant. A triumphant smirk spread across her face as she lifted her chin, her confidence returning in full force. "Hah. Your superior is here. You can explain yourselves to him directly." She pulled the chair back and sat down heavily. Crossing her legs, she ordered Emily, who was standing quietly to the side, "Emily, go get my coffee. I want to sit here and watch how they plan to apologize to me today." Emily watched the scene unfold, feeling more and more uneasy. She wanted to step in and tell Carolyn to stop throwing her weight around. Chloe hadn't done anything wrong—why keep picking on her? She had seen everything. Chloe hadn't started any of this; Carolyn had provoked her again and again. Emily had been Carolyn's fan club leader for a long time. She always believed Carolyn had real talent and genuinely cared about her fans—a rare artist worth supporting. But now, seeing her like this for the first time, she realized the Carolyn she knew from afar wasn't the same person up close. It was like she had become someone else entirely. Henry, a large and somewhat overweight man, finally hurried onto the set after being called repeatedly. His secretary struggled to keep up behind him. "Mr. Vick, please slow down! You just had drinks—running isn't good for you. Your mom said your fatty liver is serious. You'll overexert yourself!" the secretary nagged from behind. Henry ignored him and rushed straight into the VIP lounge. "Carolyn, what's going on? Who's giving you trouble? Show me." He burst in, out of breath, and as soon as he spotted Carolyn, he moved protectively in front of her. "Who said they're kicking you out? Who was it?" "It's them..." Carolyn pointed at Chloe and the security team, furious. "Them. Those guards want me gone, and she's claiming the gifts you sent were from her. Now that you're here, fix this for me. I'm so wronged." Her voice trembled as if she were about to cry.Seeing this, Henry's heart ached. This girl served him so well—in every way imaginable—and her skills were exceptional. Today, he had spent generously to help her show off. Tonight, he planned to get his money's worth out of her, to hear just how loudly she could scream. Henry's face darkened as he looked toward Chloe. Her stunning looks startled him for a moment, but he quickly put on a stern expression and turned his attention to the security team. He showed them no kindness. "You really don't know who I am? I own Kellian Media. Rebirth is our company's investment. And you're throwing Carolyn out? Is that it?" He raised his voice deliberately, making sure everyone felt his authority. The security team looked at him and replied calmly, "Mr. Vick, we know you're the vice president of Kellian Media." "You know, and you still talk back to me? What kind of tone is that?" The term "vice president" annoyed him. Henry's face fell, and he was ready to let them have it."Mr. Vick, we respect you. But here, today, your word isn't the final say," the guard said, his voice growing steadier. "We're following Mr. Merrow and Mr. Eggert's direct orders. Mr. Eggert told us Ms. Lewis is a VIP and that we're to personally ensure she's well taken care of. Ms. Lewis is here to see Mr. Merrow—she's his honored guest today." "Mr. Eggert?" Henry froze. Chloe Lewis... wasn't she Carolyn's sister who got kicked out of her family? A freeloader who married off, signed a clean-break agreement with no money, got cut off by her family, and couldn't even find a job afterward? How on earth was she "Mr. Eggert's" VIP? What was going on? His head felt fuzzy. "Yes. Mr. Eggert." "Are you sure there's no mistake here?" Henry glanced at Carolyn, doubt flickering in his eyes. Carolyn shot him a furious look, her anger burning even hotter. She had called him here to back her up, not to question her. "Mr. Vick, Mr. Eggert's orders were very clear. He called me personally," the head guard said, lifting his phone. "If you think there's an issue, I can call him right now. You can ask him yourself."
