He Cheated. I Rose.
"Is it right?" Arthur glared at her with a cold laugh. "Everything you've done—wasn't it just to prove to me you could get a job? To show you could earn money and take care of yourself? Well, you did it. And look where it got you." A faint, self-mocking smile tugged at Arthur's lips. "Chloe, why keep up this tough act? If you need money, just spit it out. I won't be stingy with you, even after the divorce." Chloe's expression turned icy. She looked away, staring out at the passing scenery. She realized Arthur was driving toward the airport. "You're taking me to the airport?" she asked, her voice edged with displeasure. "Yes." Arthur didn't bother denying it. He laid out his plan plainly. "I've got everything sorted for you to leave. Forget that online firestorm—I'll clean it up. I have people waiting overseas to pick you up. You'll get out of this city, and you'll never come back."Arthur's gaze stayed locked on the road ahead, calm and unshakable—as if he'd stumbled upon the one flawless solution to all this mess. "You go first. I'll have Robert sent over to join you as soon as possible. Once you're both there, live quietly. If I find the time, I might visit. "Chloe, from now on, stop being so stubborn." Listening to him, Chloe let out a sharp, bitter huff—she almost laughed out loud at the absurdity of it all. So he wanted to hide her away like some secret lover? Only a true fool would think this was a brilliant plan. Arthur—blind to reason, blind to his own heart, and now it seemed his brain had fully short-circuited too. A mocking smile curled at the corner of her lips, sharp as a blade. She felt nothing but disgust.Chloe checked the time on her phone. Only 30 minutes remained until the scheduled press conference. They were speeding toward the airport—the exact opposite direction from the Cosmos News Center. Every minute took her further away, wasting precious time. This crisis had started because of her. She didn't need anyone else to clean up her mess. She could handle it herself. Least of all, she didn't need Arthur. Once she made a choice, going back only made her look foolish. The second she'd walked out of Myers Manor, their ties should've been cut for good. There was no going back, not then, not now. "Arthur." Chloe called his name, her voice calm. He glanced over instinctively. Her tone was so soft that for a moment, he thought she had finally seen reason—that she recognized his goodwill and was touched. "Even if I'm ruining myself, that's my choice. It has nothing to do with you. Don't flatter yourself," Chloe stated coolly, her tone leaving no room for argument. "Pull over." Her words didn't bring Arthur any satisfaction. They only fueled his frustration. After all this, she could still say that? Could she honestly not see the hassle she was in? The plagiarism accusation had taken root. Under the weight of public opinion, Cosmos Group would suffer massive losses. The shareholders would never let Chloe off easily. They would tear her apart. She would have nowhere to hide. Even if she died, it wouldn't cover the financial damage from this scandal. And she told him not to flatter himself. He scoffed. Was she completely out of her mind? He swallowed his anger, forcing himself not to argue. She had been his wife, after all. He couldn't just stand by and watch her walk to her doom, step into the abyss, completely unaware while still mocking him. Maybe he should just let Chloe crash and see how that turned out. "Chloe, are you still being this stubborn?" "Arthur, I'm done wasting words. I'll say it one more time. My mess, my responsibility. Stay out of it. Stop the car. I'm getting out now." Chloe's voice was sharp, final. Arthur let out a cold laugh. "You? Handle public opinion? Who do you think you are?" "Who I am is none of your business." Chloe didn't want to spend another second in this car. She glanced outside. They were speeding along an overpass. The car was moving fast, and Arthur showed no intention of stopping. The distance from the news center was getting further and further apart. If she kept wasting time with this fool, she would miss the conference entirely. Choosing her moment, Chloe sharply unclicked her seatbelt and in the next instant yanked the door handle. "Chloe, you're insane!" Arthur saw her reckless move and slammed on the brakes. The car was going so fast—then a sudden hard brake, a skid, and it almost spun out of control! Even with his seatbelt on, Arthur was thrown forward against the restraint, his heart pounding. That split-second decision was pure madness. Chloe was gambling with her life. If she had been thrown from the car, there would have been only one outcome—certain death. "Chloe!" he roared, trying to shock her back to her senses.
