He Cheated. I Rose.
Arthur didn't get a chance to speak. Chloe was already getting out of the car. "Arthur, we're done. Save us both the trouble and keep your pride. Try anything like this again, and I won't hold back." Chloe's voice was cold and clear. She slammed the door hard. The sound made Arthur jolt. The whole car seemed to shake. For a second, it felt like that door would never open again. Since when did Chloe get so strong? "Chloe!" he yelled. But she was already walking away, not looking back. She actually got out of the car suddenly on the overpass—and just now, she even tried to jump out directly! She was crazy! Completely out of her mind!Damn it! Arthur ripped off his seatbelt and got out. He was about to run after her when he heard the roar of an engine. A car was speeding toward them. Who was driving? Arthur glanced back. A black sedan flew past, too fast to see who was inside. In a flash, it pulled up beside Chloe with a sharp, controlled drift. Chloe saw the driver and only paused for a second. Then, without another thought, she walked to the passenger side, opened the door, and got in. In that split second, Arthur saw him. It was Eugene. The man's eyes met Arthur's in the rearview mirror. Eugene's lips curved into a faint, mocking smile. The engine growled again, and the car took off. "Chloe! Wait!" Arthur shouted. But she was gone. He stood there, frozen, watching Chloe drive away with Eugene. A voice inside him seemed to scream—he had lost her for good. Arthur stared as the car vanished down the road. He couldn't stop thinking about how quickly Chloe had got into Eugene's car. Hot anger rushed through him. Chloe had been his wife. How could he just stand there and let another man take her right in front of him? He ran back to his car, started the engine, and sped after them. Faster! He had to go faster! He couldn't accept this. No matter what was between her and that man. His phone rang on the passenger seat. He ignored it, hands tight on the wheel, pushing the car harder. All he could think was—go faster and catch Chloe. The phone rang again, louder this time, like it was angry. Arthur was truly annoyed. He gripped the steering wheel with one hand and answered the phone with the other. "What?" he snapped. "Arthur, where are you? Get back here now. Jennifer told me you went after Chloe. What's wrong with you? That woman is nothing but trouble, and you're still running after her? Are you out of your mind?" It was Madilyn. Her voice was sharp and angry. "Mom, stay out of it. I know what I'm doing," Arthur said, ready to hang up. "Arthur, have you forgotten what Chloe said about you? And you're still helping her? What are you thinking? Listen to me—do not go after her. Do not use the Myers family's influence to help her. If you do anything for her, I won't let it slide." Madilyn's voice hardened with irritation. Arthur didn't answer. He hung up and threw the phone aside. His eyes were fixed on the road. Right now, he had one goal—bring that stubborn woman back. In the other car... Chloe looked at the man driving. Eugene didn't say a word. They were moving fast, but the ride was smooth. The last time they'd met, they'd only glanced at each other. Yet here he was, appearing by her side in such a short time. She didn't ask why he came. Instead, she asked coolly, "The Four Seasons collection is getting slammed online. I got roasted by a bunch of netizens. If this goes wrong, your money's gone. Having second thoughts?" Eugene kept his eyes on the road. A small, confident smile touched his lips. He was actually smiling? Chloe raised an eyebrow. "You seem happy." "As a pro investor, my eye for picks is always on point," Eugene said, his voice calm. Chloe paused, then let out a soft laugh."Good. That's enough." She checked the time. "Ten minutes until the press conference starts." "We'll be there," Eugene said, and smoothly pressed the gas.
