He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 158 A Care Package

The promotional campaign was already underway, yet the designs remained under wraps. What was the company thinking? Clearly building hype for the launch. But was she really worth all this anticipation? "Linda, what should we..." Lisa approached, concern evident on her face. Linda glanced sideways at Lisa before scanning the rest of the design team. They were all watching like spectators at a show. Clearly, nobody cared whether she stayed or left. They just wanted to collect their paychecks without trouble. Just wait. She'd make them all see her talent and what she could achieve. "Lisa, let's go. This messed-up place is totally not worth clinging to. Who knows which well-connected dude they'll hire tomorrow!" Linda lifted her chin and walked away, her heels clicking confidently against the floor. Lisa snorted and turned sharply, quickly following after her.The remaining design department staff stood awkwardly, exchanging uncertain glances. When the HR manager finally appeared and saw everyone standing around, he snapped once, and the crowd dispersed at once. Inside the office, Chloe saw the finished design drawings of her work. "Ms. Lewis, following Mr. Voss's instructions, the first production run's been upped from 3,000 to 10,000 units," the manager informed her. "We'll launch sales online and in stores at the same time. So fans can grab their favorite pieces right away." "I'll support the promotional activities. You're aware of my conditions," Chloe stated, her tone turning serious. "I know. Don't worry, Ms. Lewis. You said you don't want any photos of you in the promo stuff. We've made sure of it," the manager assured her. With that confirmed, Chloe didn't elaborate further. She worked with the company to finalize all materials for the Four Seasons campaign and waited for the follow-up marketing summary. A week later, it was the official launch of the Four Seasons collection, and also the day the new collection went on sale to the public. Once all tasks were completed, Chloe left work half an hour early. As she stepped out of the building, a delivery person was waiting at the entrance. "Ms. Lewis, here's your requested delivery. Please sign here." Chloe signed quickly and glanced into the box. It contained various health supplements and nutritious items, all carefully selected by a top-tier nutritionist before being delivered by the courier. She wasn't sure how Eugene was recovering. Feeling too awkward to visit him directly, she decided to send some gifts instead—a friendly gesture to check on his well-being. She didn't bother reviewing the item list. Instead, she called Bruce. Eugene was reviewing a report—the latest growth figures for Cosmos Group. There was an important meeting in Oskary that required his attendance. Originally, the plan was to stay in Capaville for a while longer before returning. But Eugene kept postponing the departure date. "Mr. Rosewood, should we inform your parents before we fly back?" Bruce asked tentatively. Eugene paused before responding, "No." "Okay." Eugene studied the report. Cosmos Group was performing even better than projected. He planned to return once the branch matters were settled. For now, there was something here he hadn't resolved yet—returning wasn't an option. His fingers unconsciously brushed against his lips, and a subtle, layered smile touched his mouth. The shrill ring of a phone jolted him out of his reverie, and Eugene's brow furrowed deep, irritation edging his features. It was Bruce's phone—an incoming call. Bruce glanced at the screen. Seeing Chloe's name, he said at once, "Mr. Rosewood, it's Ms. Lewis." Eugene's calm expression shifted at that. His eyes lifted, a spark appearing within them. "Put it on speaker." Bruce said no more, picking up the call right away and putting it on speaker. "Ms. Lewis, this is Bruce," he said, leaning slightly toward the phone, his voice respectful. "Bruce, well... are you with Eugene right now?" Chloe's voice came through softly as if she'd rehearsed the question a few times before calling. "Yes. Ms. Lewis, do you need something from Mr. Rosewood?" Bruce asked. He glanced up, sneaking a look through the rearview mirror at the man in the back seat. The moment Eugene heard Chloe's voice, he sat up straight unconsciously. She needed something from him? Then why hadn't she reached out directly? A call, a text, anything would've worked. They had exchanged contacts, but she had chosen to call Bruce instead. He checked his own phone anyway, refusing to believe it. No missed calls. His inbox showed no new messages. "Bruce, I bought a few things for Eugene. Where are you guys right now?" Chloe's words came through clearly, and Eugene's brow furrowed slightly. They were nearly at the airport. What could she possibly be sending him?
