The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
Watching Emma busying herself for him, Malrik felt both warmth and reluctance in his heart. He tried holding himself back, but in the end, he couldn't resist and tugged on the hem of her clothes. "Ms. Tibarn… When I go to the army, will you visit me?" He looked at Emma with both affection and unease, his voice carrying a cautious, almost pleading tone. Emma paused what she was doing and turned to him. Seeing Malrik cling to her like this, anxious and dependent, her heart softened. She said, "Well, I don't know if I'm allowed to just go there." After all, it wasn't a public space. Hearing her answer, Malrik's expression immediately fell. A wave of sadness and unease washed over him, and it felt as if he might burst into tears at any moment. Emma hadn't expected him to rely on her so much. After thinking for a moment, she suggested, "Why don't I ask Calum later? If he says it's fine, I'll come visit you." Hearing this, Malrik's face lit up. He gripped her hand excitedly and tugged her toward the door. "Ms. Tibarn, let's go ask Calum now!" As soon as he spoke, the door was pushed open from the outside. Calum's tall figure appeared in the doorway. Seeing Malrik awake, he froze in place, stepping no further into the room. His caution toward Malrik's fruit-offering behavior had become almost instinctive. "Ms. Tibarn, the people coming for Malrik will arrive soon," Calum said steadily, standing in the doorway. This time, Malrik didn't call Calum his father, nor did he offer him fruit. His mind was clearer now, and he remembered that his father had long, white hair. Meanwhile, Calum's hair was short. Hearing that the people coming for Malrik would arrive soon, Emma quickly stored the items in her hands into Malrik's storage band. Then, she hurried over to Calum and asked, "Once Malrik goes to the army, can I go see him?" Calum nodded. "Of course. You can go wherever you want. I'll even show you around." The entire army was under his control. If Emma wanted to visit the military base, he could easily have it arranged. Hearing such a definite answer, Emma immediately relaxed and turned to Malrik. "You heard that, right? Calum said I could come and visit. Focus on getting better in the army. I'll drop by in a few days once Marcus and Lucien return." Hearing that Emma would be able to visit him, Malrik nodded happily. "Okay!" Soon after, Calum's people arrived to take him. Emma handed everything she had taken from the storage to Malrik. "There's food, supplies, high-level beast cores, and insect cores. Use them all, got it?" She couldn't help giving him one last reminder. "If you miss me, use your lightcore and videocall me." "Ms. Tibarn." Malrik hugged Emma tightly, burying his head in the hollow of her neck and taking a deep breath of her pleasant scent. "I don't want to let you go." His voice was muffled, thick with reluctance. "I don't want to let you go either." Emma hugged him back and gently kissed his cheek. "Get better quickly and come back soon, alright?" "Okay!" Malrik nodded. "I promise I'll get better quickly, Ms. Tibarn. Wait for me!" When he returned, he would form a bond with her. The warship landed in the manor. Silas approached and handed Malrik a box containing his own flowers. "Training is tough. When you're exhausted and can't take it anymore, eat one of my flowers. It'll make you feel better." "Thank you." Malrik took the box from Silas. "We're family. There's no need for formalities." Silas smiled at him. Thinking of the grueling life he was about to face, he pitied the man.Calum glanced at the time and said, "It's time for Malrik to board the warship." Malrik reluctantly hugged Emma one last time, with a strength that felt as if he wanted to press her into his very bones. "Wait for me, Ms. Tibarn. I'll be back soon." "I'll wait for you." Emma stood on her tiptoes, patting his back gently to comfort him. Watching Malrik climb the warship, turning back for a glance every few steps, Emma felt the same kind of reluctance as if she were sending her boyfriend off to the army. Calum observed her expression and stepped forward, speaking softly to reassure her. "Ms. Tibarn, I'll personally design Malrik's training program and make sure he releases the energy in his body as quickly as possible. That way, he'd be able to return sooner." Silas, standing nearby, felt a slight, almost imperceptible twitch at the corner of his eye. He silently prayed for Malrik. He and Lucien had both had the privilege of enduring Calum's personally designed training programs before. That kind of brutal, inhumane training was far worse than rolling around in hell itself. Silas strongly suspected that Calum was deliberately getting back at Malrik, making him pay for the few sour fruits he had fed him.
