The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 398 A Messy Dinner Prep

After Malrik left, Emma, Calum, and Silas walked back to the living room. As they stepped inside, Silas spoke to Emma in a gentle tone. "Emy, I'll cook. What do you want for dinner?" "I'll go with you. I want noodles. Let's make fried beast cutlet noodles tonight." After she finished speaking, Emma turned to look at Calum, who followed her closely. "Calum, you just got here today. Rest for a while. When dinner is ready, I'll have Silas call you." Calum stood tall in front of her, yet he looked like a big dog that wanted attention. He had no intention of resting alone. "I'm not tired. How do you make dinner? I can help." He did not want to miss any chance to get closer to her. Emma understood what he wanted. She smiled and nodded. "Then come with us."The kitchen was big enough. Cooking together would make things faster. Emma, Silas, and the excited Calum had just stepped into the kitchen when something happened upstairs. Edric finished his training. He guessed it was about time to make dinner. He changed clothes and walked downstairs. He passed Drake's room and knocked on the door. "Drake, I'm going to cook dinner. Do you want to come?" Drake had been working hard on learning how to cook. Whoever used the kitchen would call him and teach him step by step. "I'm coming." He put down what he was holding and walked out quickly. The two walked downstairs side by side. Edric asked casually. "You went with Emma to the Consort Pavilion today. Do you know how many new matches she got?""One." Drake answered in a short and direct way. "One?" Edric looked surprised. Most females who got an extra matching chance would get at least two matches. He did not expect the Beast God to give Emma only one. "Who is it? Do you know?" Edric kept asking. Matching only one person after all the rewards felt odd. It made the choice feel deliberate. Before Drake could answer, they heard Emma's helpless voice coming from the kitchen. "Calum, the kitchen isn't a good place for you. You should rest outside." As soon as she spoke, a tall figure was pushed out of the kitchen in a messy state. Edric looked up and almost felt his eyes pop out. Calum had flour on his clothes and a white patch on his handsome face."Cal... Marshal Calum?" Edric stared at him in shock and blurted out the words. "Weren't you dead?" Edric had trained in his room all afternoon and knew nothing about Calum's situation. Calum was already annoyed because Emma had pushed him out of the kitchen. When he heard Edric's greeting, his face darkened. He turned his flour-covered face slowly and looked at Edric with sharp black eyes. "Thank you for your concern." He lifted his hand and wiped off a bit of flour from his cheek. The corner of his mouth lifted in a half-smile. His voice carried an easy kind of authority. "I'm alive again." Edric did not know what to say. Drake glanced at Calum and spoke to Edric. "You asked who Emma matched with this afternoon."He pointed at Calum. "It's him." Edric had already guessed when he saw Calum being pushed out by Emma. Hearing it confirmed still left him stunned. If Calum became Emma's match, could Lucien still keep his place as her first mate? … Two days later, inside the warship, Lucien watched as Kael brought out star coins and treasures. He had his people check everything. Once the list was done, he nodded with satisfaction. "With this, I can report to the general." "Where is Dahlia?" Kael looked tired. Ever since Dahlia went missing, he had been searching nonstop. When he learned she was on Lucien's warship, he rushed over at once. He had not slept for more than ten days. Lucien spoke to his adjutant. "Go bring Dahlia here. Tell her that her mate came to get her.""Yes, sir." The adjutant left to bring her from the recovery pod. Inside the pod, Lily looked unhappy as she stared at Dahlia. "Dahlia, Kael came to pick you up. What am I supposed to do?" She looked upset. "I still have not formed a bond with Lucien." These days, Dahlia truly felt Lily was foolish. She spoke to her. "There is nothing I can do. Lucien treats us politely, but he keeps his distance. We tried three times, but we still could not make him take the medicine. There is no point in staying on the warship." Dahlia handled things with care. Once she noticed Lucien was being cautious, she stopped letting Lily bring him anything. For the past few days, both of them stayed quietly in the recovery pod.
