The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
Soon, Marcus came back with Malrik, who had bruises all over his face. Emma lay on the bed, weak and heartbroken as she looked at the injured Malrik. "Cotton Candy, why are you hurt again?" After speaking, she pretended to glare at Marcus. "Marcus, did you hit Cotton Candy again? I told you so many times not to hit him. I'll feel bad if you do." Marcus looked innocent. "I swear it wasn't me. He got emotional and decided to fight me first." Squeak! Malrik rubbed against Emma's palm. He no longer cared about being beaten by Marcus. He only worried about Emma. As long as Marcus let him see her, he did not care how much he got beaten. "Cotton Candy, does it hurt?" Emma quickly took out two of Silas' leaves and handed them to him. "Here, eat these. They'll make it stop hurting."She had to win his trust first. Only then could she make him tell the truth when she pretended to be dying later. Malrik looked at Emma. Her face was so pale that not a hint of color remained. A wave of pain filled his chest until it felt like he was drowning. Squeak! Ms. Tibarn, how did you suddenly get so sick? Malrik never once suspected that Emma was faking it. In her eyes, he was just an ordinary rabbit. There was no reason for her to pretend to be sick just to fool a rabbit. "Cotton Candy, what's wrong?" Emma saw him staring without moving and gave a weak, gentle smile. She held the leaves to his mouth. "Come on, eat these. It won't hurt after that." Malrik looked at the leaves again. At that moment, he wished he could hold Emma the way Marcus did, with warmth and care. But the thought had barely formed before he forced it down. He did not dare. He could not imagine what Emma would think if she saw that he was not a harmless little rabbit but someone who shared the same face as that cruel and manipulative Merlin. Will she think it was all a lie? Will her gentle eyes fill with disappointment, anger, or even hatred? Especially now, when she was so sick and weak. "Ms. Tibarn, you should rest now." Marcus saw that it was getting late. He picked up the rabbit without hesitation and spoke softly to Emma. "The doctor said you need to rest and shouldn't get tired." Emma did feel sleepy. She pretended to nod weakly, then handed the leaves to Marcus. "Then feed Cotton Candy for me. And you're not allowed to hit him again." After saying that, she gently patted the rabbit's head. "Cotton Candy, I'm going to sleep now. You should rest too." Then she closed her eyes. Corvin stayed in the room to keep her company, while Marcus carried Malrik and left with Edric. Once they stepped out of the room, neither Marcus nor Edric spoke. The air felt heavy.Malrik grew more anxious. He couldn't let Emma stay sick like this. He had to find a way to heal her. Inside the room, Emma looked at the monitor on her lightcore. When she saw that Marcus had taken Malrik downstairs, she turned to Corvin. "Corvin, how was my acting just now?" "Emma, you were amazing. Even though I knew you were pretending, you almost fooled me too." When Corvin saw how weak she looked earlier, he had almost panicked for real. Emma nodded in satisfaction. "Good. If I fooled you, then I definitely fooled Cotton Candy too." Corvin blinked and smiled brightly. "Emma, are you saying I'm smart?" Emma nodded firmly. "Of course. My Corvin built so many advanced mechs and warships. You're definitely smart." Emma praised him. Corvin beamed and hugged her carefully. "Emma, I brought several mechs back for you this time. This room's too small to show them, but tomorrow I'll take you to the open field at the manor so you can play with them."Since he knew Emma was pregnant, Corvin didn't dare hold her too tightly. He looked at her with warmth in his eyes. "Emma, can I kiss you now?" The moment he asked, Emma pressed her soft lips against his. Corvin kissed her back gently. The night grew darker little by little. Downstairs, Malrik waited until Marcus and Edric had gone to bed. Then his figure vanished from the pet room that Emma had arranged for him. He moved so fast that even the security cameras couldn't catch him. Outside the manor, a shadow saw him and bowed respectfully. "Mr. Malrik, it's late. Why did you call me here?" It was the first time since his return to Emma's side that he had summoned him. "Send the word," Malrik said coldly. "Tell everyone to drop whatever they're doing and start searching for the Beast God's fruit."
