The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
When he was serious, Marcus was really good-looking. His long fingers unbuttoned the first button on her shirt. When he saw the small patch of pale skin at her collarbone, his throat felt dry. He swallowed without meaning to. That familiar heat started rising in his chest again. Marcus stared at Emma's lips, which she had painted pale on purpose. For a moment, he wanted to kiss her. He wanted to feel her warmth, hold her tight, and do something more intimate. "Marcus, maybe I should do it myself." When Emma saw the desire in his eyes, her heart skipped a beat. She quickly raised her hand to stop him from reaching over again. She was pregnant now. There were some things she couldn't do. Marcus' hand stopped midair, blocked by her soft fingers. But instead of pulling back, he held her hand and gently drew her closer."Don't be scared," he said. His voice was low and rough. His breath was warm against her ear. "I'm not an animal." His words didn't comfort her. They made the hairs on her arms stand up. The air in the bathroom felt hot and thin. It pressed down on her until she could barely breathe. Marcus wasn't an animal, but the way he looked right now was even more dangerous. Clothes hit the floor soon after. The next second, he lifted Emma carefully and set her in the bathtub filled with warm water. The heat wrapped around her and drove away the chill in the air. Marcus knelt on one knee beside the tub. From that position, he looked down at her slightly, but there was a quiet reverence in his posture. He reached through the rising steam and brushed her wet cheek with his hand. The mist dampened his silver hair. Water slid down his handsome face and along his sharp collarbone. His gaze was calm on the surface, but there was a storm beneath it. It could pull Emma in at any moment. "Do you still need my help?" he asked. His voice was hoarse, rough like sandpaper, and strangely seductive. "No." Emma looked away and refused. If she let him help any longer, she thought she would lose control before he did. "Marcus, go wait outside." He didn't move. "You're still sick. I can't leave. Otherwise, that rabbit will get suspicious." Emma felt like she had dug her own grave. She didn't even know how she managed to finish the bath. By the time she dried her hair and walked out, Edric had already set the table. After getting Marcus' message, he brought the dishes out. He knew she liked sea beasts now.So he cooked them in every way he could. Steamed, braised, every flavor he knew. Emma was hungry, but when she saw Malrik sitting nearby and the table full of food, her face turned pale. "I don't have an appetite. You guys eat." As soon as she said that, Marcus spoke up. "I don't like sea beasts. I'll go change, and Edric and Corvin can eat with you." He grabbed the rabbit and left right after. Squeak! Don't take me! I want to stay with her! Malrik hadn't expected Marcus to drag him along. He struggled hard, but Marcus didn't let go. Once Marcus left with Malrik, Emma quickly picked up her fork and started eating. Edric and Corvin sat beside her. Out of all that food, Emma ate more than half by herself. When she finished, Edric and Corvin cleared the table right away. Even after eating that much, she didn't feel full. Marcus still hadn't brought Malrik back. She used the time to go to the training room and absorb energy from the beast cores. After reaching Level 6, she could absorb energy from five Level 7 beast cores at most. But this time, she absorbed ten at once. Her body felt like a bottomless pit. When she finished absorbing ten cores, she still felt she could take in more. Her abilities also improved quickly. At this rate, she could reach Rank 7 in a few days. She was shocked. Is it really possible to train faster because of the baby? That's a pleasant surprise. Still, after absorbing energy from ten beast cores, she decided to stop. It was safer to wait and see if there were any side effects first. If nothing happened, she would keep increasing the number next time. When she came out of the training room and lay on the bed, she sent Marcus a message. She told him he could bring Malrik back now.
