The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 244 Malrik's Worry

Corvin held Malrik in his arms, and his eyes nearly filled with tears. "Cotton Candy, if something happens to Emma, I won't be able to live either. You're just her pet, so you can still live. Don't worry. Before I die, I'll make sure you're taken care of." Edric walked over from behind. He looked serious as he patted Corvin's shoulder. "I'll go to the kitchen and make something Emma likes. You and Marcus should stay with her." Seeing how sad and heavy Corvin and Edric looked, Malrik got so anxious that he almost turned into his human form. Ms. Tibarn! He jumped out of Corvin's arms and ran upstairs quickly. Seeing the rabbit disappear up to the third floor in seconds, Corvin lowered his voice and asked Edric, "How was my acting just now? I should've fooled him, right?" Edric nodded. "It was excellent." …Upstairs, Marcus carefully laid Emma on the bed. "Ms. Tibarn, do you want to take a bath? I'll go run the water for you." He knew she liked soaking in the tub every night before bed. Emma had been asleep in the hospital for almost four days, so she really needed a proper bath. When she saw the rabbit run in from the corner of her eye, she grabbed Marcus' hand and gave a weak nod. "Marcus, I don't have any strength. After you fill the tub, carry me there." "Alright." Marcus nodded softly and tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear. "Ms. Tibarn, wait for me. I'll be quick." Malrik watched Marcus walk into the bathroom and rushed to the bed. He jumped up and stared at Emma with worry. What kind of illness does Ms. Tibarn have? Why does she look so pale? She looks so weak. Emma coughed lightly when she saw Malrik. She reached out to touch his ear. Her hand was limp and cold. Even lifting her arm seemed to take all her strength. "Cotton Candy," she said softly. Her voice was faint and hoarse, as if it could break at any moment. "I'm fine. Don't worry."She tried to smile at him, but another wave of coughing hit her the moment she did. She coughed hard and struggled to stop. Malrik got so anxious he almost lost it. Ms. Tibarn, what's wrong? Please don't scare me! Just then, the bathroom door opened. Marcus walked out and froze when he saw Emma still coughing. His heart tightened, and he rushed over to her. "Ms. Tibarn, what happened?" Emma grabbed his hand and finally managed to stop coughing. She breathed heavily. Her chest rose and fell quickly. Her already pale face turned slightly red from the effort. Her eyes teared up from coughing so hard. She looked so fragile that it seemed she could break at any touch. "Marcus…" "I'm here," Marcus said quickly. His other hand rubbed her back gently to help her breathe. His face showed nothing but worry and care. It didn't look like acting at all. "Ms. Tibarn, I'm here. Don't be scared. Do you still want to go to the bathroom?"Emma didn't have the strength to speak. She just nodded weakly. "I'll carry you." Marcus gently pulled the blanket away and bent down. He slid one arm under her knees and the other behind her back, lifting her carefully. Malrik watched from the side, tense the entire time. As Marcus carried Emma into the bathroom, she coughed a few more times. She quickly took out a pale blue leaf from Silas and ate it. "Ms. Tibarn, are you okay?" Marcus asked, looking at her with concern. He knew she was acting, but the way she coughed didn't sound fake at all. "I'm fine." Emma waved her hand weakly. "I just choked on my own saliva." Marcus was speechless. After she ate Silas' leaf, she seemed fine again. That made him feel better. Emma lowered her voice. "When we talk like this, they can't hear us outside, right?" Marcus nodded. "Don't worry, Ms. Tibarn. I've covered this place with my mental power. Even if that rabbit is at Rank 11, he won't hear a thing." Emma finally relaxed. She thought about how anxious Malrik had looked earlier. She was sure her acting had fooled him. She reached up and scratched her head. For some reason, the front right side of her head had been itchy these past few days. "I'll help you undress," Marcus mentioned. He placed her gently on the sink so she could sit steadily. Then, he stood in front of her and began unbuttoning her shirt. The distance between them was too close. Emma had to tilt her head back to look at him. His silver hair glowed like strands of moonlight. A few locks fell naturally over his smooth forehead. His straight nose and thin lips gave him a calm, restrained look.
