If It's Not Me
The terrifying murderous intent enveloped the whole place suddenly. What followed next was a bone-chilling coldness that seemed to have traveled from the depths of Hell, turning down the temperature in the surrounding within a split second! At first, the two phantom guards were startled, but delight ensued. "His Excellency is here!" In the meantime, Janice was in the car, her eyes closed, ready to end her life by biting off her tongue. However, she felt a sudden coldness that sent a shiver through her slender body, and an incredibly familiar feeling rose in her chest. Moreover, the car that was shaking had suddenly stopped. There wasn't a single sound from outside, and even though she found it odd, she didn't dare to open her eyes. Just then, a cherubic voice rang into her ears. "Mommy!" Janice shook when she heard that voice, and her eyes popped open, only to see that the thugs around the car had all stepped back, and only one person was standing next to the vehicle. In his arms, he was holding a cute, bubbly little girl who was smiling sweetly at her. "Denise!" she sobbed loudly the moment she saw Denise, tears welling up in her eyes. She utterly ignored the thugs around the car, opened the door, dashed out of the car, and took Denise from Daniel's arms. Then, she raised her head and stared at the man with solid and sculptured features in front of her. Yet, what was different from before was that the sickly pallor on the man seemed to be more pronounced now. "I'm sorry that I'm late," Daniel said gently, gazing at her with apologetic and tender eyes. The moment his husky voice reached her ears, all her walls broke down, and tears flowed down her face uncontrollably. Even though she was biting hard at her lips, sounds of choked sobbing still escaped her lips. Just a minute ago, she had already assumed that she would never see both of them again in this life, and she had also decided to end her own life. Unexpectedly, Daniel actually appeared with Denise, and she felt as though this was a dream. "Don't cry, Mommy! Don't cry!" When Denise saw Janice crying, her tiny face turned anxious, and she kept wiping away Janice's tears with her little hands. While she wiped her mother's tears, it was as if she was also affected; her eyes reddened, and her lips trembled. After that, she started wailing, crying ever so sadly. The sight of the mother and child crying sent self-blame through Daniel's heart, and he said gently, "Don't worry. I'm here. Everything will be alright." After he said that, he turned and faced everyone. All traces of his gentleness from earlier disappeared, and in its place was a biting cold that no one had seen before, especially in his dark eyes, which were carrying a chilling iciness. He was like a changed man as his entire body was exuding an air that no one could look at directly. The horrifying murderous intent exploded from under his feet, rolling out everywhere until it reached the core of everyone's heart. At the same time, Xavier and his men were scared out of their wits when they saw Daniel descending from above! "Why is it him?" Void of all colors on his face, Xavier staggered backward unwittingly, and even his men were backing up in fear. Nobody dared to stand at the front because they had personally witnessed how scary Daniel was. Even a big shot like Raymond had to speak humbly to this terrifying man! Janice sniffled through her delicate nose, raised her swollen eyes, and saw Daniel's lean back, but she couldn't feel any safer as her heart was filled with a strong sense of security. For some unknown reason, whenever he appeared, she had the feeling that she would be absolutely safe. Because she had placed her trust in him. His dark eyes were like the devil's as murderous intent poured out of them, and it was so piercing that nobody dared to look him in the eyes. "Who sent you?" he growled in a frigid voice.
