If It's Not Me

Chapter 27 Why Don’t We Terminate the Contract for the Time Being?

At that moment, she was a stark contrast to the image of a rich lady she usually upheld. Her hair was all over the place, and her face was so twisted that she looked like a madwoman. Daniel abruptly stopped in his tracks upon hearing that and turned around. A bone-chilling coldness emanated from his dark eyes as he said icily, "One more word from you, and I'll get Samuel Murphy to come here and collect your corpse!" His tone was domineering and frightening; not only that, his gaze was sharp beyond comparison. A terrifying pressure instantly loomed over the entirety of Selena's body, causing her to shudder tremendously. At that moment, she didn't dare lift her head to look Daniel in the eyes. She even swallowed the words she was about to say. Similarly, the onlookers were stunned as they inhaled sharply. "Damn, is Daniel out of his mind? How dare he threaten a Murphy in public!" "This rapist is really digging his own grave."Janice frowned as she said, "Forget it, Daniel. Let's go." "Let's go home, Daddy." Denise called out timidly, her small face filled with fear. The coldness on Daniel's face instantly dissipated as he turned around with a smile. "Okay." Once they left, Selena finally let out a huge sigh of relief. She belatedly realized that her back was drenched in cold sweat! Moments ago, Daniel's glare was as threatening as a Grim Reaper from hell. Her instincts told her that if she really did utter another word just now, she might not have survived today! However, since she was part of the Murphy Family, she couldn't just sit by and endure it! Moreover, she had also been shamed in front of so many people. "Just you wait!" Selena looked at the leaving silhouettes and gritted her teeth, the vicious hatred in her eyes getting stronger. On the way home, the two adults did not utter a single word. Only Denise kept on chattering, and it seemed as though she had forgotten all about the upset situation just now. After all, children changed their mood quite easily. However, the atmosphere was still a little awkward. Through the rearview mirror, Daniel could see that Janice was frowning deeply, the hesitation evident in her eyes. He knew what Janice was thinking. Because of her identity, she might be the cause of others' prejudice toward Denise, which was something the woman couldn't accept. They soon returned to the housing community, and the three went up to their unit. Denise led Daniel to the couch, wanting to watch some cartoons. The man, however, wasn't in the mood to watch TV. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at Janice as she silently sat in the kitchen. He thought for a bit, then took a deep breath before getting up and walking to the kitchen entrance."Uh…" At that moment, he didn't quite know how to refer to Janice. When she heard his movements, she turned around and said, "What's the matter?" Daniel pursed his lips for a bit, then glanced at Denise, who was intently watching cartoons. He said slowly, "Why don't we terminate the contract for the time being?"
