Mr. Mysterious's Spontaneous Bride

Chapter 38 Bad Intention

Assuming Shawn's company's coffee wasn't doing a good job in keeping him awake, Ivy took a quick look at food delivery options. She noticed that Starbucks coffee was on sale, offering two large cups of iced Americano with free delivery. She placed an order and entered Shawn's company address while also sharing the contact details of Luke, the assistant. After completing the order, she sent Shawn a screenshot of the purchase and an additional message: "I ordered two cups of coffee for you, one for you and one for Mr. Luke. Maybe this will help you wake up better than the coffee at your company." Starbucks coffee may be slightly on the expensive side. She usually only ordered it when she was extremely fatigued. The bitterness of Starbucks coffee was what made it the ideal choice for awakening one's senses, at least from her perspective. It should work well for Shawn too, shouldn't it? Will Shawn be happy about this? Shouldn't he be delighted? Well, he should be, right?!" After some moments of gloom, Shawn picked up his phone and replied to Ivy: "Thank you; I'm looking forward to it." "Great!" With her conversation with Shawn concluded, Ivy left for the Clinic. The clinic director, had already prepared champagne to celebrate and eagerly pushed Ivy to the front of everyone, declaring, "Our hero!" "Come on, Dr. Jones, I must toast to you!" Director Malcom didn't hold back his praises for Ivy. He turned to Dr. Ticko and said, "Dr. Ticko, you need to learn from Dr. Jones. We older folks can never compare to the younger generation." Dr. Ticko adjusted his glasses, concealed his emotions, and smiled, saying, "Indeed, I need to learn from Dr. Jones and my student, Dr. Jenny." "Yes!" Director Malcom turned back to Ivy. "Dr. Jones, we have a new clause--let's add training for the clinic's staff. The Clinic's attention is soaring, and the professional skills of our medical and nursing staff must keep up. We need to benchmark against the First Hospital in the City!" As soon as the Director finished speaking, Dr. Ticko's smile froze. He was the most experienced staff member here, and he was completely computer illiterate. The Director's intention appeared to be pushing him out the door. With these thoughts in mind, Dr. Ticko's smile became even more exaggerated. His only thought was that the collaboration with DT Investment absolutely could not continue. If it did, the leadership must be in his hands. With these considerations, Dr. Ticko's gaze fell on Jessie, who was standing beside Ivy. Jessie had a smile on her face but a stubborn and contemptuous look in her eyes. Dr. Ticko exchanged a look with Jenny, and they began to form a plan.As a result, Jenny called Jessie to her office in the inpatient department. She told Jessie, "Jessie, your performance review for this year is about to start. Our mentor asked me to give you the key points for the review." As she spoke, she handed a file to Jessie. Jessie held onto the file tightly and said with gratitude, "Thank you, Dr. Jenny. Please also convey my thanks to Dr. Ticko. If it weren't for him frequently providing me with the review criteria, sparing me from Dr. Jones's harassment, I would have probably been forced out by Dr. Jones a long time ago." Jenny shrugged and smiled, "Our mentor values talent and can't bear to see you constantly mistreated. However, Jessie, be cautious during this review. Dr. Jones won't spare you. Now, she's the public face of the County Clinic, and if she insists on not having you, even the director and my mentor may not be able to keep you." Upon hearing this, Jessie's eyes welled up with tears. She bit her lip and replied in a low voice, "I understand, but I can only leave it to fate..." "Right now, it's probably only the patients treated by Dr. Jones who will run into trouble. Even Director Malcom won't be able to protect her. But... sigh, my teacher and I are also helpless in this matter. You'll have to handle it yourself." "Alright." Jessie left Jenny's office in a despondent manner, wandering aimlessly in the hospital corridor. She accidentally collided with Ivy, who was coming up the stairs. "Jessie, what's wrong?" Ivy noticed her distraught appearance and spoke gently. Her gaze landed on the file bag Jessie was holding and Jenny's office nearby, and Ivy's expression darkened. When Jessie first joined the County Clinic, she was under the guidance of Dr. Ticko. However, due to Jessie's inherent disadvantages and a lack of effort, Dr. Ticko had consistently given her the lowest marks during evaluations in the hope of having her removed from the County Clinic. Having experienced desperate situations herself, Ivy didn't want people she knew to suffer the same fate. Therefore, when everyone else was trying to push her out, she personally took charge and brought Jessie into her department. However, what Ivy didn't expect was that three years later, Jessie had shown no improvement and continued to be unproductive in the clinic. Ivy decided that she needed to have a serious talk with Jessie. With this in mind, she asked, "Do you have some free time after work? I'd like to discuss this year's performance evaluation with you." Jessie suddenly raised her head and met Ivy's gaze. Her heart was filled with anger, and she was ready to confront Ivy. Did this woman really want to kick her out so badly? She thought Ivy was despicable. If she were in Jessie's position, she would do a much better job."Ivy, I'm busy at home these days and don't have time," she replied curtly, her fury evident in her eyes. "Alright," Ivy replied calmly. Seeing that Jessie was in a bad mood, she didn't press her further. Instead, she added, "Just make sure to fill out the evaluation honestly. If you don't understand anything, feel free to ask me. I'll help you." Jessie couldn't stand being around Ivy any longer and wanted to tear off her hypocritical facade. "Thank you," Jessie quickly said before hurrying away. Ivy was puzzled by Jessie's behavior and briefly considered chasing after her to find out more. However, in that moment, she recalled the earlier incident when Jessie and her colleagues had gossiped about her behind her back. She hesitated and ultimately decided not to pursue it further. ***
