Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 336 Buffet

Emily's barrage of questions caught the female student completely off guard. Daniel’s expression darkened as well. He adjusted his glasses and spoke sternly, "Honesty is a fundamental principle for doing business. Our company doesn't hire dishonest employees." The female student took a deep breath, her eyes darting around nervously, clearly feeling guilty. She bit her lip tightly, seemingly trying to come up with an excuse. But Emily wasn’t in a hurry. She just smiled slightly and continued to watch the girl quietly. Finally, the student came up with what she thought was a perfect excuse: "My boyfriend paid for all of it. He’s well-off, so everything I bought was with his money." Daniel leaned in and whispered to Emily, "Ma'am, what do you think…?" Emily smiled, "Oh, that's right. I almost forgot you have a boyfriend." "Yes, you even saw him at the cinema that day. My hair, my phone, everything was paid for by him. I really don’t have much money of my own." Emily nodded, acknowledging her explanation, "Alright, that makes sense." The girl let out a heavy sigh of relief. But Emily's next question followed immediately: "How are your grades at school?" "...They’re average." "How average?" The girl became a bit irritated, "I'm not at the top of the class or anything. But when you were recruiting, you didn’t say grades were a requirement. Do I not qualify just because my grades aren't great?" "Of course you qualify," Emily replied. "But I won’t be hiring you." The girl suddenly stood up, "Why? I’ve explained where my money comes from, and my grades aren’t terrible. You didn’t even set a grade requirement. Are you just targeting me on purpose?" Emily candidly admitted, "Yes, exactly. I just don’t like you. Any more questions?" "You…" The student was so furious that she started swearing, "What the hell? Is this company really so unprofessional? You’re rejecting applicants based on personal grudges instead of evaluating them objectively? I’ll post about this online and let everyone know how terrible your company is!" Daniel was concerned about the company’s reputation and wanted to intervene, but Ken grabbed his arm, saying, "Don't worry. We follow Madam’s lead." Daniel hesitated, but eventually sat back down, waving her off, "Sorry, you didn’t pass our interview…" "Screw this interview! You think you’re so great? If the salary wasn’t decent, I wouldn’t have even bothered coming here! Damn it!" The girl stormed out, slamming the door behind her with a loud bang that made everyone’s skin crawl. The little incident didn’t disrupt the recruitment process. After a morning of interviews, Daniel and Ken selected three candidates and asked the assistant to notify them. After the interviews, Daniel stretched and asked Emily, "Ma'am, shall we go eat?" "Sure, does your company have a cafeteria?" "No, but there’s a buffet restaurant nearby." "Is the food good?" "I haven’t tried it," Daniel laughed, rubbing his stomach. "I only start work at 7 PM, so I’m more familiar with late-night snacks than lunch spots around here." Ken, eager to join in, added, "Let’s give it a try today. I’ve heard that buffet’s not bad, and apparently, they offer discounts for pretty ladies. With you, Ma'am, we might even get a free meal!" Daniel nudged Ken, "Cut the jokes." Just then, there was a knock on the meeting room door. "Come in." Dylan poked his head in, grinning, "Ma'am, are you done with the interviews?" Emily nodded, "Yes, all done." "Great. The boss sent me to ask what you'd like for lunch." "He’s not done with work yet?" "He’s waiting for you outside."Daniel chuckled, "Ma'am, this isn’t good. He’s asking you out but sent his assistant to fetch you? Not very sincere, right, Ma'am? You should definitely make him pay for that." Emily smiled, "Do you guys always tease your boss like this?" "We wouldn’t dare. We only talk like this when he’s not around. Ma'am, you have no idea! Our CEO may seem gentlemanly, but he’s incredibly decisive and tough! When dealing with our competitors, he’s like the devil himself…" Ken corrected him, "More like a king." "Oh, right, a king," Daniel said, rubbing his hands with a mischievous grin. "But what’s really important is that our boss only ever shows this gentle side when he’s with you." As soon as Daniel finished speaking, a familiar deep voice came from the doorway, "Emily." Mr. Satan’s tall figure appeared at the entrance, holding a coat. He walked over and wrapped it around Emily, "Come on, let’s go out for lunch." As he led her out of the room, Emily whispered, "I already promised Daniel and Ken. We’re going to the buffet restaurant next door…" Mr. Satan raised a dangerous eyebrow, "You’re already this close with them?" "They’ve been very warm and welcoming," Emily replied with a smile. "Your employees are quite interesting." Satan didn’t respond to that, instead, he shifted the topic, "You really want to go to that buffet?" "Is that okay for you?" Emily asked, glancing at the white mask on his face. "Is it convenient?" Mr. Satan answered nonchalantly, "It’s not inconvenient for me. If you want to go, I’ll take you." News of Emily’s visit had already spread throughout the company, and now everyone had gathered at the buffet restaurant, practically turning it into the company’s cafeteria. With Mr. Satan by her side, Emily walked slowly, given her pregnancy, and they arrived at the restaurant last. As they entered, they heard Ken animatedly recounting the morning’s interview story to everyone. "I’m telling you, Emily’s got the sharpest eyes! So many people came for the interview, and she didn’t say a word until that girl came in. With just a few questions, she saw right through her lies!" Someone asked, "Does Emily have something against high school students?"Ken, with a mouthful of food, replied, "No, it’s just that the girl was lying. Daniel didn’t notice, but her belly was sticking out! She’s pregnant, and still in high school!" "What if she and her boyfriend are really in love…" Ken shook his finger, "Her attitude didn’t seem like she cared about that kid at all, so I don’t think her feelings were sincere either!"
