Everything Stolen, I Left to Become CEO

Chapter 362 His Genuine Great-Grandson

Arthur cracked a smile. "You sure know how to butter me up." The butler chuckled, "Not way. Everyone knows I'm an honest man. I only speak the truth." Arthur gave a mock snort, then his expression turned serious. "Later, call Clara's family and Jasper. Tell them to come to the Manor this Saturday. I've got something important to announce." He paused, adding firmly, "Make sure they show. No one's allowed to skip. Especially Jethro." He was still holding a grudge over Jethro's deliberate absence from the last family gathering. The butler bowed slightly. "Yes, sir." As they continued towards the exit, Arthur asked another question. "What about that person I asked you to look into?""The person mentioned by the young masters during the last dinner—we've found her. Her name is Darcy Gale." Arthur narrowed his eyes. "A woman?" "Yes. Stunning looks. Very capable too. No wonder Mr. Jethro Blackwood brought her in himself." Arthur felt something was off. A man being that attentive to a woman—it was suspicious. At dinner, Jethro's subtle but clear defense of her hadn't escaped Arthur's notice. Protective, yet restrained. Jasper just said a couple of things, and Jethro turned sour at him instantly. Anyone would think... Arthur raised an eyebrow. "So, Jethro and this Darcy are merely boss and subordinate?" The butler hesitated for a few seconds before replying cautiously, "So far, our people haven't found anything beyond that." "Keep watching them," Arthur ordered. They walked a few more steps. "Also, have our people at the company keep a close eye on things. Pay special attention to the dynamic between Jethro and Jasper. They're both my grandsons. I don't want to see them turn on each other." When Jasper received the call from the butler, he wasn't surprised. If anything, he felt a wave of relief. He immediately called Annie. "I just got the call from the Manor. Grandpa wants everyone there this weekend. Says he has something big to announce." Annie gripped her phone tightly. "Is it about... that?" "The butler wouldn't spill, but I think so." Annie's heart raced. "That's awesome. Thank you, Jasper." Jasper's smile turned bitter. "Annie, I'd move heaven and earth to make you happy—whatever it takes. It's just—have you really thought it through? You want Jett to return to the family name? If the truth ever comes out... you know the consequences of lying to Grandpa." Annie knew, of course. Everyone in Aethelburg's upper circles knew of Arthur's iron-fisted rule. He might look like an ordinary old man now, but in his day, he was a legendary, ruthless titan in the business world. That was how the Blackwood fortune had been built. Now, he claimed to be retired and detached, but who knew if that gentle facade was real? But— A sly smile touched Annie's lips. She wasn't deceiving Arthur. Jett was, after all, his genuine great-grandson. So, she wasn't afraid. "Jasper, I know exactly what I'm doing. Even if it's discovered one day, I won't regret it." Her resolute tone sent Jasper's heart plummeting. He had wanted to persuade her to give up on his cousin. He was confident that soon, he would achieve even more dazzling success than Jethro. But all those arguments seemed pathetic in the face of Annie's unwavering determination. Jasper closed his eyes briefly. "Alright." Even if she regrets it one day, it's fine. I'll always stand behind her. So she'll see me the moment she looks back. On Saturday morning at Blackwood Manor, the butler roused every servant to clean thoroughly and prepare an elaborate meal. At 10:30 AM, Jasper was the first to arrive. The butler greeted him at the door. "Mr. Blackwood." Jasper changed his shoes but didn't see Arthur. He glanced at the butler. "Where's Grandpa?" The butler bowed slightly. "He's in the family chapel."Jasper's hand, which had been unbuttoning his coat, paused for a split second. A dark glint flickered in his eyes. Not long after, Clara, Jethro, and Cindy arrived. Cindy grumbled under her breath. "What's with all the mystery? Why did Grandpa summon everyone today? I asked the butler, and he wouldn't breathe a word. Something's up." Clara was also puzzled. She looked back at her son, only to find his expression perfectly calm. "Do you know why your grandfather called everyone here?" she asked. Jethro smiled faintly, "I don't know either." The three of them walked inside. At the entrance, a maid offered slippers. Out of habit, Jethro took a pair and handed them to his sister first. "Here, Cindy." But Cindy wasn't having it. She turned away with attitude. "Don't act all fake with me." Jethro froze. Clara shook her head. "What did you do to her? Lately, she's been treating you like you're public enemy number one." Jethro could only offer a helpless smile and said nothing.
