Everything Stolen, I Left to Become CEO
Soon after, Jasper collaborated with a popular tech influencer to co-create a series of videos. In this way, Jasper broke into the mainstream, becoming a frequent name on trending lists. Almost overnight, Stratagem Tech, and by extension the Blackwood Group, received an unprecedented level of public attention. Even the Group's stock price saw a sustained climb. The Group's shareholders were overjoyed, quickly calling Arthur. "Arthur, your younger grandson is truly impressive! He's only been in charge for a short while, and he's already driven the Group's stock up five percentage points for several consecutive days. Puts us old-timers to shame!" Arthur was initially surprised, then replied modestly, "No. He's still young and needs your guidance." Only after checking the news himself did Arthur fully understand his grandson's recent achievements. He felt it from the heart—he'd made the right call. The butler smiled as he helped Arthur walk. "Good news keeps coming. The Group's financials are stellar, your health continues to improve, and Mr. Jasper Blackwood is making a name for himself in the tech world." Today was Arthur's day for a medical check-up, and the results showed significant improvement compared to his last visit. Arthur laughed heartily, "In the whole family, it's you who has the sweetest tongue!" "Not at all. I'm just stating facts!" the butler replied. Arthur's smile widened as they made their way toward the hospital exit, where their driver was waiting. Just then, they heard the sound of muffled sobbing. Arthur paused, searching for the source of the sound. Not far away, a little boy stood crying, his nose red, long eyelashes wet with tears—a pitiful sight. "Isn't that Jett?" The butler instinctively started toward the child but hesitated, remembering the boy's complicated status. Arthur tapped his cane on the ground. "Let's go check." Jett was crying inconsolably when two figures approached, blocking the sun. He recognized them. He blinked his tear-filled eyes, surprise replacing the sadness. "Great-grandpa!" The address melted Arthur's heart instantly, softening his voice. "Why are you all alone out here? Where's your mom? Oh, look at those eyes—red as a bunny's." Jett sniffled. "Mommy went to get medicine. She told me to wait right here by the door and not move. But... but—" The little boy seemed to remember something upsetting, his lower lip trembling as fresh tears spilled over."Shh, don't cry. Tell me what's wrong. Maybe I can help." Jett pointed a small finger. "That's my little car!" Arthur followed the direction. A group of boys, visibly older than Jett, were gathered a short distance away, fighting over a shiny red toy car. Oh, so that's why he's crying. His toy got snatched. Arthur gave the butler a meaningful glance, who immediately understood. Two minutes later, the butler returned with the red car. "Wow! Thank you, Great-grandpa! You're so amazing, even more amazing than Spider-Man!" Listening to the child's innocent praise, Arthur couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Really? Am I that amazing?" "Jett!" Annie's anxious voice called out."Mommy, I'm over here!" "Jett! Are you okay?!" Annie rushed over, pulling him into a tight hug, checking him over. "You scared me to death! I told you to wait by the door! Why did you come all the way over here?" Jett pouted, looking ready to cry again. "My red car got taken. But Great-grandpa got it back for me." Great-grandpa... Annie looked up and finally noticed Arthur and the butler. She was momentarily stunned. "Mr. Blackwood..." Arthur gave a low hum of acknowledgment. "I know it's not easy raising a child on your own. But he's so little—you can't take your eyes off him for a second. Hospitals are such chaotic places. What if someone with bad intentions had snatched him away?" His tone was stern, but his attitude was noticeably less severe than during their last meeting. Annie lowered her gaze. From an angle no one else could see, a faint, triumphant smile touched her lips. "You're absolutely right. I'll be more careful next time." She then turned and gently stroked Jett's cheek. "Say goodbye to Great-grandpa." Jett waved obediently. "Bye-bye, Great-grandpa." Arthur beamed, waving back kindly. He watched until they had completely disappeared from view before finally looking away. He let out a heavy, conflicted sigh. "A young woman, raising a child alone—how well can she really manage? If something like today goes down again, God only knows what'll happen. "Whatever, Jett is still a Blackwood." The butler was taken aback. After a moment, he cautiously agreed, "You're correct. That boy is so well-behaved and thoughtful—clearly a Blackwood."Arthur slowly turned to look at him, enunciating each word carefully. "Tell me—should I bring this child back to his roots?" The butler was truly shocked this time. He was silent for a long while before speaking, "Adding to the family line is always a blessing."
