The Second Love
“Oh, nothing much. I'm just browsing for some clothes online. Give me back my phone.” “Sure.” Dominic gave a half-hearted response. However, he had no intention of handing the phone over to me as his gaze remained fixed on it. After that, I raised my hand, intending to snatch my phone back. Dominic was tall, and I was sitting on the bed. Hence, I couldn't reach it when he held the phone high. He then raised his hand slightly to the side and avoided my hand. Before I could raise my hand again, he had already put the phone into his pocket. “What are you doing? That's my phone.” Dominic, on the other hand, didn't look at me. Instead, he said to Calvin, who was standing at the side. “You can leave once you've put the stuff down.” Calvin nodded his head in response. He then faced me after he had put the items down. “Ms. Zanetti, take care of yourself. I'll be taking my leave now.” “Huh? Oh! Thanks, Calvin. Goodbye.” I smiled and waved my hand at him. After Calvin had left, I grabbed Dominic's arm again and spread my hand in front of him. “Give me back my phone.” Dominic did not even attempt to evade. Instead, he let me hold his arm while he took the food out of the plastic bag. Consequently, I was distracted when I looked at all the delicious food on the table. “You should eat first. After that, I'll return your phone.” Fine. I can always browse later anyway. My priority right now should be tasting all these scrumptious dishes before my eyes! As I began eating the food, I could feel my mood getting better as well. It didn't take long for me to realize Dominic was staring at me as I ate. Upon noticing he wasn't eating, I quickly fed him a meatball. “This is delicious! You should try it. Oh right, we should eat together if you haven't eaten yet. Why are you staring at me while I'm eating?” Dominic then stared at me for a few seconds before smiling and eating the meatball. The corner of my lips curled into a slight smile when I saw him eating it, and I asked, “How is it? Isn't it delicious?” “Here, take this and eat some as well. Stop staring at me eating.” I grabbed a fork and handed it to him. After Dominic had taken the fork, I continued munching on my food. He was not a little boy, so he could eat by himself if he wanted to. Overall, it was a pleasant meal. Maybe it was because I hadn't eaten with Dominic in a long time, but I felt a warm feeling in my heart when I saw him handing me some of his food. The peaceful atmosphere lasted until we had finished our food. It seemed like our relationship was showing signs of improvement. After that, I intended to go out for a stroll as I had finished a hearty meal, and it wasn't late yet. I thought it wasn't a big deal, but I had barely spoken before Dominic sternly told me to stay in bed. The doctor advised me to rest at home for three months, but he didn't say anything about being on bed rest. Going by Dominic's logic, does that mean I can't even use the bathroom? If that's true, then I think I'm going to go crazy. How is that any different from being bedridden? This is too much! I had initially told Dominic that I appreciated his concern for me. However, I couldn't deal with his attitude any longer when he kept refusing my request. Why is he so domineering? I'm not even his personal doll. Despite the fact that I was pregnant, Dominic seemed to have no qualms about being strict with me. As a result, I was unable to control my temper. I noticed my temper had gotten worse lately, but I wasn't sure if it was because of my pregnancy. Furthermore, I didn't realize I had developed a habit of throwing things around whenever I was mad. Whenever I was angry, I would toss anything I could get my hands on. In the past, none of the things I threw managed to land on Dominic, yet this time, it landed right on his face. Fortunately, it was just a grape. When the grape landed on his face, it burst immediately, leaving a stain on his skin. It was quite an amusing sight, but I tried my best to suppress my laughter when I saw Dominic's darkened expression. Meanwhile, he was staring at me with an icy-cold glare. Embarrassed, I merely kept quiet. “Just you wait!” he uttered through gritted teeth. Dominic must be utterly ticked off this time. Before I could come up with a response, he had already turned around and entered the bathroom, slamming the door behind him. As soon as the door was slammed shut, I murmured under my breath, “Serves you right!” You can't blame me since it was your fault anyway. Why were you being so mean to me? I did nothing but throw a single grape at you. Even so, it was such a waste of a good grape! I leaned against the bed frame and thought about what happened. The more I recalled his attitude, the more frustrated I felt. Yesterday, he was telling me how he'd pamper me and the baby, but he's already acting in this manner after a day. Stretching my hand out to pat my belly, I began complaining, “My dear baby, look at your dad. His temper is so bad. He doesn't keep his promises either!” After waiting for a while, Dominic still hadn't come out of the restroom. However, I could hear the sound of water running, and I was stunned. Is he showering right now? Is it necessary for him to be that extra? He could've just washed his face with water, no? Much to my surprise, Calvin, who had left earlier, came back while holding a paper bag in his hand. I was rendered speechless by his unexpected appearance, but Calvin maintained his professionalism and informed me that he was here to deliver Dominic's clothes. Furthermore, Calvin came in a haste and left in a hurry. After leaving the bag of clothes on the couch, he quickly left the room. Seeing that, I was a little frustrated. Why did you leave it there? Are you telling me to give it to him myself? In your dreams! Didn't Dominic tell me not to get down from the bed? In that case, he should get his clothes himself. If he's unwilling to do that, he should just stay in the bathroom forever! Unfortunately, I had significantly underestimated Dominic's shamelessness. He stepped out of the bathroom, completely naked as he walked toward the couch. While wearing a nonchalant expression on his face, Dominic slowly put on his clothes. It was as if he wasn't afraid of being seen by others in his naked glory. However, my eyes were about to pop out of their sockets as I stared at the shameless man before my eyes. Despite the fact that we had slept together several times and I was pregnant with his baby, I was still embarrassed by his actions because we were in the hospital. Hey, do you have no shame? Do you have any morals? I remained silent as I watched Dominic put on his clothes and leave the room after that. Oh, baby, we saw nothing just now. See no evil, hear no evil. I was patting my belly and muttering to myself when I heard the door click open. I lifted my gaze and noticed Dominic pushing a wheelchair into the room.
