You Were Warned
Chaos There were so many things swirling around in my mind. Mate bonds, the attempted purge from my so called siblings and now my son Kudiya. When I returned from visiting my sisters it left me feeling disturbed. Of course was going to conduct an inquiry about Kudiya’s activities regarding this situation. If it is true that he knew about the missing human borns and disregarded the issue due to his biased beliefs, he will need to be corrected. Kudiya is intelligent! There is no way several complaints can go unanswered. Even if it ended up being a waste of time. When many reports are being made regarding the same issue, action is necessary. Especially if the reports are being made from the magical community. Lower species or not, this matter should have been approached accordingly. Outside of my throne room Zefer, Aruru and Nin waited for me. All three girls were arguing about who was going to speak first. “Zefer, I have to say out ranks anything you two would have to say!” Zefer seemed to be certain of her claims. Plus as the eldest, I granted her the right to speak first. Before Zefer would explain herself she demanded we all go to my private chamber. I found this to be odd behaviour. To add to the topic she told me the seer instructed her to do so. From there Zefer explained everything. “Merna informed me that if she can view this land, others with this skill would do the same. This area is the only location that Merna was not able to see into. She told us to conduct any private conversations here.” I was not going to question this action. So far Merna has been correct on everything this far. Zefer handed me a folded paper, informing me that it had been enchanted so that only my eyes would be able to read the contents. Glazing over the list I understood what this was. I swallowed the lump that was in my throat, I thought the last of my dead wife was the worst thing that could have happened. This was far worse! Not saying a word I glared at my two other daughters, “How important is what you have to say?” I asked Aruru and Nin, “Well?” I yelled a little louder than I meant to. I understood their reaction as they could not figure out where this behaviour came from. With haste, Aruru told me what I needed to know. Knowing there was more to their investigation. Nin informed me that a full report would be written out for me to read. That what was said was the most important thing. Telling the girls not to leave, I linked my other off springs to come to my private chamber. What I needed to discuss had to remain between us. On three separate pages, I wrote down the list of names. And the instructions that were to be completed. I was going to send Ashur to Merna’s domain to make sure that she was safe. Each of them was going to be given a task that needed to be completed without question. The first thing that needed to be taken care of was Kudiya. When Kudiya was questioned he came up with excuses, I figured he would say. I was starting to think this boy of mine was incapable of handling the simplest of tasks. That is around the time when he tried to blame Merna. Zefer was in his face. I was sure if I did not intervene, she would have caused him bodily harm. “Do you have any idea what you have done?” It was a fact we did not see favour in the human borns but we also knew that some species found favour in them. When an offspring is produced out of a union we are required to listen when a report is made. "Father, who cares if a measly human born is killed?" Kudiya tried to defend his lack of responsibility. I was fuming, "If you had completed the task that I had given you ... I would have known THAT MY SIBLINGS WERE GETTING READY FOR WAR!" Black smoke was filling up the room. Rage pulsated in my veins, "Bau?" My daughter stepped forward, "Yes father!" I lowered my tone, "You and Sabit will be tasked with going to the hall of records. There you will search and find all the complaints that have been sent from the Earth realm and bring them back to me." As I gave my order I remembered something that Puabi told me. "Find your mother's mate as well. I was told that she was a data analyst in the physical world. If she is as good as your mother says, she will be able to find the information that is needed." Both of the girls said at the same time, "Yes father!" Followed with a bow of respect. I set my eyes on my son, “depending on the damage you have caused … will depend on the severity of your punishment!” I steadied my breathing. "Aruru and Nin, you will collect and take the suspects to the kennel. They will stay there until I am ready to question them." The list was of those Merna had found suspicious, they were serfs and should be easy to handle. I further instructed the girls to find Sadragon and his mate. With them, they already had a group of hunters that could aid in the hunt and siege. “Is Hassun and the other hunters still at Merna’s place?” “When I left, they were still there!” Zefer responded. “Ashur go to your mate, stay there until I tell you it is safe to return!” Handing him the list of names of spies. Ashur did not question my actions but continued to listen. I told him that Hassun was to gather more hunters to execute this as promptly as possible. I did not want any of those listed to get away. The last list was going to remain in my possession. “Zefer and Alma, you are going to be with me. Anatu, take care of their task as well as yours. Aya and Kudiya you will aid Anatu in this task.” Kudiya began to complain that he should not be handling female work. I was quick to remind him that this mess would not have begun if he had completed his original task at the start. Dismissing my off spring I led Zefer and Alma to the Hunters domain. I was looking for Dutor, and his group Ghonk, Zhurnuck, Gulk, Bur, Gark, Buvann, Hradok, Charter and Vir. All of them were Bugbears and could handle themselves against what was to come. “Father, I know the list were names that the seer said were troublesome, but … how bad could the list be that we must call the bugbears?” I handed the list to Zefer. I watched as her eyes read each name on the list. By the time she was done, she was shaking with rage. All of the names on the list were high ranking officials. Hunters, Mages and even our bloodline. I could not trust this task to anyone, it needed to be the bugbears. While I was gathering what I needed to execute my plans Ashur told me that he was at Merna’s dwellings and had sent Hassun back along with the other hunters. In Hassun’s hand was the list he needed.
