You Were Warned
Sagittarius I woke up early in the morning and found my wife in the kitchen. Kissing the top of her head, I proceeded to make a cup of coffee. “I have to step out for a couple of hours. There is an issue that Cancer has asked me to look after.” “Why can he not take care of it himself? We just had a baby and are sleep deprived.” “I know Jennifer but this is important!” I explained the events that led up to now. I told her how she was not in the zodiac council but the Constellations were very fond of her. “Is she pretty?” I told her that I had never met Merna but was told by Draco she is one hell of a fighter. I laughed when I told Jennifer what Scorpio had said about Merna being cold as ice but was a hair away from kicking Cancer's arse. “I would pay to see that! I knew Jennifer was not pleased that I was leaving, but it was a well fair check and nothing more! I unfolded the paper that Cancer had given me, focused on the location, and opened a portal. The place I saw was not something I was expecting. I had it in my mind that Merna would be living in a place that was ... well more feminine looking and not so ... plain! There was a deck that seemed to wrap around! With stairs going up to the main entrance, with a large window to the side. Something told me that window was either the kitchen or living room window. Going up the stairs I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Calling out the name I was given, "Merna!?" Again there was no reply. I decided to check the back location, I did not want to leave the location prematurely. As I strolled along, I passed three windows! Not able to resist, I peered in! Boxes filled these two of the small rooms while the third was set up as an office. As I neared the end of this section of the deck, I could see a body of water with two docks. Turning to the left there was a tinted sunroom. Again, I call out, “Merna!?”In the far distance of the property, I spotted a female who was patting down a patch of dirt! On hearing my voice, her head tilted to the side. Making eye contact, “Would you happen to be Merna?” Nodding her head, “are you from the OPP?” Merna inquired. Heading down the flight of stairs aiming for Merna’s direction, I placed my hand out in greeting, “Cancer sent me to do a wellness check!” Taking my hand in our greeting, “sorry I thought you were part of the OPP here to give me more information about my husband!” We release our hands, “It was nice of Cancer to send someone to check up on me!” I glanced down at the shifted soil. It was too small to bury a body, so I knew it had to be where she buried her dog. Merna must have noticed my questioning expression as I glared at the spot where she was working. Merna’s lip quivered, “they killed my dog last night … an attack!” She cleared her throat, “I had things under control, nothing I am not used to! I just did not think I would lose my dog!” Merna was breathing heavily. “I called his name, but the bloody dog would not come back to me. Damn dog charged after the attacker!” This is the point I wish I had sent my wife! When she suggested that she should come, I should have said yes! Instead, I was worried about her and the baby’s safety. I knew how it felt to lose something or one that is cherished. It was lame but it is the go-to line when there is a death. “My condolences Pisces said The cops found your mate… Was it… You know one of our enemies?” It was awkward asking But it was something That was needed. I could see her eyes watering up, “My best friend … my husband!” Merna took a deep breath in, “I know he and the others are dead! It is just a matter of finding the mangled bodies!” “What the hell happened?” I tried to keep my voice low. A single tear rolled down her face, “It looks like a bear attack … it appears like the bear head claimed the location and … it was bad! Everything was everywhere!” She paused for a second, “Sorry but who are you again?” I let out a chuckle of embarrassment, “Sorry … Sagittarius! A long time friend of Cancer and Pisces.” I smiled, “I hear that you might join us!” Merna forced a laugh, “they want me to! I did warn them I am not good with group projects! A solitary type of person, never being good around others!” “Cancer says you are better than good … you are one of his best co-workers!” I recalled how many times Cancer would praise Merna and her talents. Merna motioned her head to the side as if someone was about to come around the corner of the house. “He is a great leader, and teacher! He knows what he is doing for sure! I just do not think that I would be best suited for his team!” Merna stepped around me, this position I was familiar with. It is the type of move a person would make if they were trying to protect. I lowered my voice, “Is someone coming?” Just above a whisper, “spy … in a human body!” This was new to me. In all the time I have worked on the council no one has mentioned this. Merna clarified to me How Parppavar likes to do things. Parppavar knows chaos and the others can not do a thing while the spy is in a Meat Sack. We won't do anything because We prefer not to go to jail. It is The perfect way to get information. And Merna was not wrong. That was the part that pissed Me off. The hag found a way to get a checkmate, knowing that Unless we Were willing to break the laws, we would do nothing. It took no time for Merna to switch from pleasant and nice, to defensive! What startled me the most was how her eyes turned black. There was no hint of emerald! Everything told me that Merna was human, yet my eyes told me she was not! If I did not know better, I would have said she was possessed! Not even the sorcerers or sorceresses could get their eyes to change like this! The energy around her even made me step back, gauging the situation further, ‘I wonder if Cancer is aware of this!’ I thought to myself. Getting near the front a female was glaring at Merna with animosity. Merna did not blink an eye as she told me how she blinded the female's companion because he was spying on her with binoculars. I had to admit she had a creative way of dealing with issues. If this was a road to Merna's mind, I think I am going to get out of the car now. “How often does this happen?” I was shocked to find out that for close to a decade she has been dealing with this. The only real support she had was found killed, presumed to be a bear attack. I was starting to understand why no one knew a lot about this woman, and I do not think anyone ever will. *** I found Jennifer nursing our little girl. I never thought I could find joy again in my life. After the death of my mother, a few years later my father. There was a void that I had accepted until Jennifer. Having Mackenzie only allowed things to grow.“I can smell her on you?” I was starting to be concerned, when Jennifer said something like that, things were never going to turn out well. Like my father, I was a powerful witch, with elemental connections. Jennifer was a Reiki Master, with Mage connections. Jennifer continued to tell me that she was not sure what bloodline Merna was but she could smell flowers, it was like if you walked into a flower shop and the cent hit you in the face, it is that overwhelming. But she also could smell a hint of decay. Handing me Mackenzie, she got up from her spot. “What are you rushing around for?” I could not place why she was behaving like this until she told me that she needed to get ahold of her cousin John. That she needed to get medical supplies. I laughed when I told her we have everything here. “What we need we will only find in a hospital! We are going to need gauze to stop the bleeding. And surgical material!” “What did you just see?” One of Jenneifer's other skills was knowing when danger was going to happen. This has aided us several times in the future to be prepared. Jennifer was on the phone explaining things to John. “I saw a lot of blood … no I can handle this … If you could get the supplies from your clinic … Aquarius is the intended … No, she is new … Chaos found her … very soon … All I know is I saw a lot of blood, something most people die from … thank you John … we will be there in two hours … see you then!” “Okay Jen … what is going on?” I patted the back of our daughter while Jennifer explained to me that she saw me holding a female who had been attacked. The female makes an SOS to Cancer. Cancer will get a hold of me since I am the closest. Others will answer her SOS, they will as well will be covered in blood. I kissed Jennifer on the forehead thankful she had her doctor's degree and was able to handle minor surgery.
