Chapter 135 Cancer

Cancer We have been working together now for close to two months. It was agreed that every Saturday from six to ten at night we would train in my basement. With the little time I had been working with Mirna, she had picked up everything with ease. To me, it felt like she already knew everything I was teaching her, but still, she did not say a thing. What would normally take months or even years to master! Mirna only needed to be shown how to do the task and she would have it mastered in a few hours. I had to smile to myself, it was like teaching Pisces all over again! He was as gifted as Mirna, yet in the end, Pisces' talent was casting spells and working with water. The more Mirna and Pisces interacted they behaved more like siblings. And I felt more like a father than her teacher! Today's session was meant for my elite fighters, the technique is taught to the children to get out of death like situations. Though for the elites the concept is upped! Mirna will be expected to portals all over the location at a rapid speed. At the same time utilizing the fighting skills in attack mode. If there was anything that we the birds excelled in, it was speed! For the first thirty minutes, Mirna was to dodge all of Pisces' attacks. Her skills in knowing where Pisces was going to portal to was impeccable. It was Mirna’s turn to be the attacker, we just had to make sure she had the footing corrected. It was Pisces' turn to dodge Mirna's attacks. To our surprise Mirna was fast. So fast that Pisces found his ass on the ground several times. "You are a true fighter!" Pisces said as Mirna helped him off the ground. “I know Orion will be ecstatic to have you on his team!” I laughed knowing that my son was not lying, I had already informed the Constellations about Mirna’s progress. “Do not get ahead of yourselves, one attacker is nothing … when there are several attackers, it is a whole different situation!” Mirna tapped her head, “in all fairness I see a lot of things in my mind … it gives me an advantage that others do not have.” Mirna was laughing, "also ... Pierre and I practise a lot as well. Sadragon has also been teaching me some of their fighting styles too!" I chuckled while clapping my hands, "Next round you will have to portal and avoid being captured." I glanced over my shoulder as my fighters came close to the protection circle. "In many situations ... we find ourselves alone with several etirikal, surrounding us. We have to rely on our skills to stay alive." I motioned for the men to join us. Aquila, Cygnus, Perseus, Bootes and Draco joined the group. Dressed in their traditional assassin uniform, they traditionally greeted Mirna. Once everyone had been introduced the next lesson was to begin. Randomly the constellations would portal around the area. Their task was to capture Mirna! Mirna was to avoid capture and defend herself. "Killing your opponents is not part of the list to do. All skills are allowed." Mirna nodded her head in understanding. This drill was to be as realistic as possible since this was one of the issues we struggled with regularly from our attackers. I glanced at the fighters, "Ladies and gentlemen, remember she is still in training ... take it easy on her!" Draco snorted, “that would take away the realistic aspect of this drill!” His husky voice bounced around the location. Mirna gave me a sideways grin, "oh this is going to be fun!" "Father?" Pisces was glaring at me, "should we be worried? Is this one of the female’s fifteen personalities speaking?" I patted my son on the back, "Never tell a woman she is crazy! It only makes them enraged!" I chuckled as Mirna nodded her head once. Joining in on the humour, “this is personality number thirty two!” Mirna laughed as she readied herself for the drill. “There are more of you?” Pisces yelled as he dramatically placed his hand over his heart. With the time Mirna and I have been working together, she is a female of few words. She is all business and no play. To see her like this made me join in with the laughter. When the atmosphere calls for it, she does have a great sense of humour. Mirna just has to feel comfortable around the individuals. For a creature that is used to solitary, opening up is not an easy thing to do. I had already informed the members of the constellation that Mirna is the type of person who has little trust in others. Always keeping her guard up. Once there is a level of trust, she will slowly let you in. I observed those in the circle as each of them tried to capture Mirna. It was very apparent to me that she was using skills that had not been seen. It made me question how many lives has this child been alone to defend herself. I did not need to see Draco’s face to know what he was thinking. We both thought the same and I was sure of it! Her movements were the same as Draco's when he first came to me, a street fighter. Someone that lived in the wild without a pack, clan, tribe or group of equals. With a single nod from Draco, that was him telling me that we will never truly be able to tame Mirna, she is essentially a wild animal. And this breaks my heart! I wanted to stop the drill … wrap my arms around this child and tell her that everything was going to be alright and she was no longer alone in this world. The same thing I had done for Draco! The constellation’s mimicked each step our etirikal used against us. Causing our numbers to dwindle! Mirna was about to wiggle her way out of danger. It was not by a sliver that she protected herself, she was able to predict each of their moves before they made them."¡Pequeña dama inteligente que tenemos aquí!" I said to the group. 'Smart little lady we have here!' "Mirna dijo que tenía otro entrenamiento!" Pisces reminded me, 'Mirna did say she had other training!' "Muestra!" Aquila said out of breath, 'It shows!' It took Mirna thirty-eight minutes to defeat her opponents. She was huffing and puffing but the fact that she was the winner told us many things. "We have a true fighter father!" Pisces said with a smile. "I do not know about that!" Mirna began as she was chugging a bottle of water, "but I do know how to keep myself alive for as long as possible." "We will meet up here again next week at the same time!" I patted Mirna on the back. Nodding her head, "Unless something unforeseeable happens, I will be here." Everyone waited until she had left. “Father,” Pisces had his eyes wide open! “Did you see Mirna’s eyes?” She took her head cover off, "Pirapancam has a lot to answer for!" Cygnus muttered in our mother tongue. "She is keeping Mirna in the dark. Not letting her know her birth right!" Pisces said bitterly. Draco uncovered his face, “Does Mirna even know what she is?” Perseus stepped towards us, “Mirna is close! I can feel her energy coming to the surface!” He stated. "I am giving Pirapancam until the next blood moon to tell Mirna the truth. If she does not ... I will!" I told the group. Taking off his cover, "Cancer!" Bootes began, "with all due respect! That woman has the right to know!" Adding to the group discussion, "I agree father!" Pisces stated. I thought about it, "I agree with you, but I will keep to what I have said! Pirapancam is given until the blood moon to speak the truth." I studied everyone. "I know she loves Mirna as if she were her own. She keeps Mirna in the dark not to have her for herself. but the opposite, she does it out of fear!" Speaking from experience, "Fear is not a good thing to base a decision on. It clouds the mind!" Draco pointed out a fact that had taken his whole family. "I understand! Yet, the blood moon is in ten days. We will wait! Until then ... Sagittarius lives not far from Mirna! I will see if he will be able to keep an eye on her. At least until we are confident that Mirna can take care of what is coming her way." “NO!” Draco yelled. “Mirna is not just a fire bird … she is the Phoenix! She deserved the respect that comes with the title!” I placed my hand on Draco’s shoulder, understanding his anger. Glancing around the group I could tell that they agreed with what was spoken. My words were trusted, “Give Pirapancam ten days to comply! If she does not … we all will sit with Mirna and explain our story to her!” Everyone bobbed their heads in agreement. “Mirna has gone this long … ten days will be nothing!” Aquila cleared her throat, "The last time I heard ..." She began, "Sagittarius is not able to do anything! He is sticking close to his pregnant girlfriend!" "I forgot about that!" I commented. "When is the little one supposed to be here?" Pisces asked. "The due date was five days ago!" I laughed, "I remember how you did not want to come into the world as well." I spoke to my son. "I do not think I have to tell any of you not to speak a word of Mirna's origin?!" Bootes glared at me, "I will have to tell my wife!" He started, "The second I walk through that door she is going to see Mirna in my mind." Pisces was laughing, "Oh man, you married the living lie detector machine!" Everyone was laughing, "That woman can smell bull shit a mile away!"
