You Were Warned

Chapter 129 Pierre

Pierre When Merna had first left to do her thing, I could hear shuffling around in Merna’s room as I sent a message to the owner of the cottage. Setting my phone down on the table I knocked on Merna’s door, “Is everything fine in there? It sounds like you are wrestling a huge spider in there!” I laughed at my joke. The door was flung open with an irate Merna, “That was not funny you jackass!” Merna pushed her hair out of her face. I am trying to find a gem to make into a translator. The male speaks Spanish, and unless there is a device to translate what we are speaking … I will have no idea what the man is saying!” Merna huffed out. I chuckled as I left the door frame, “I will see if you have something in your bag that will be useful!” I yelled as I walked down the hallway. I knew Merna better sometimes than she knew herself. I could see the pain in her eyes. Though as long as she kept her mind busy she would not think about what bothered her. This was a way she coped with pain and other unwanted emotions. Rummaging around in the bag, I found what I was looking for. “Found it!” I yelled. From behind me, I could hear feet paddling the floor with speed. Merna kissed the top of my head, “You are a lifesaver!” Snatching the baggy of gems, Merna paddled back to the bedroom. With the door closed I could not hear what was being spoken. I just knew that it was something I probably did not want her to explain to me. Grabbing my phone! I hunted down the ad that Sadragon was speaking of. After a great deal of typing, re- reading what I said. Only to change some words around, was I happy with the message. Pressing send I placed my phone down, knowing that now I had to play the waiting game. A few hours after sending a letter of interest, the owner was quick to get back to me. While Merna had been in the room, presumedly now sleeping, I was making arrangements to view the place. Letting the owner know that I was willing to give them cash, upfront, if the place was what it said it was to be. In the beginning of our conversation, the owner did not seem overly keen on what I had to suggest. With Sadragon whispering in my ear what I should say, the owner became more interested. I guess Merna is right, it is all about wording. Someone can say the same thing as long as they position the words correctly. By the end of the conversation, we had set up a time and date. All we had to do was get there, with the money. The owner was going to make sure that the realtor would be there with the paperwork. Feeling better about the progress that I was making, I did one more thing ... I started up an advertisement to place this house up for rent. I would ask Merna to take pictures of the place and make the final touches to the ad. She had always been better with words than I had. Since Merna had her gifts, I would get her to do the interview making it so that we got the best tenets possible. The week did not drag on as many normally do! Between trips to the bank. Both Merna and I dropped by her place to get the items she sells online. To come back to my place! I was dealing with the endless questions Steve would have for me. Something told me that if it were left up to him, he would not be bothering me. Each time Steve would call, it would start with a confirmation of the question before, followed by a new question! If I was not on the phone, I was packing my belongings. I was packing in the kitchen when Merna rushed by, “Eh!” I yelled. Hulting her feet, Merna peddled back, “What is up?” She poked her head into the doorway. “Are you wanting to use my dishes or yours when we move?” Merna thought about it, “My dishes are all mismatched, where yours is a full set! I will take yours!” She finally answered my question. I will take a trip to my place tomorrow and take a load of items to the second hand store. “Or you could put them in the laundry room and see if anyone there would like them?” I gave her a suggestion. “It would save you from packing, driving all the way across the city to the second hand store. Besides you already know they will put a price tag on something that is not worth what they are asking for!” Merna snapped her fingers, “Good point! UMM?” Merna placed a finger in the air, “Do you have any plans on using the fire pit out back in say the next thirty minutes?” “No … Why?” Merna shrugged her shoulders, “I was just going to cast a little bit of this and that!” She smirked, “You know a spell that will protect the area and the structure that is on the land … Nothing big!” I started to laugh, “The only thing you ever liked big was a man's dick!” Merna and I laughed, “Shut the fuck up!” Merna yelled at me as she left the location. The next morning I drove my truck behind Merna’s car as we went to her place. Though she had a one bedroom flat, she had little personal possessions. “What is the point of having something if you are never going to use it … I like to be practical!” Merna said as we walked around her place. It kind of made me think about how little time we spent here. Most of the time we hung out of her apartment or at my place. Roaming around I went to her closet, it made me chuckle at how little clothing she did have. This is when I realized that if we spent a day here … everything would be packed up and ready to go. In less than three hours this place could be cleared out. Aiming for the main closet, I found the rest of Merna’s camping gear, “Eh!” I yelled, “Do you want to keep your camping gear or use mine? I am sure mine is better than yours!” From the bathroom, I hear the toilet flush, “I want to keep both! You never know when the tents could be useful and besides …” Merna reached my location, “That stuff there was not cheap!” “I agree!” Merna had her hands on her hips, “So I was thinking?” “It must have been hard for you!” I laughed as Merna backhanded my arm, “Jackass!” Merna continued to laugh, “I do not have a lot here! I was thinking of hiring helping hands to bring my things to your place. A team to do a thorough cleaning of the place … and call it a day!” “I figured it would take less than three hours to have this place packed and ready to get things out of here. Save your money on a moving crew … cleaners … you are on your own!” I closed the closet door. “I bet I can make the packing time less!?” Merna wiggled her brows up and down. “All I need is the boxes to carry everything out!” “You are going to do your thing?” Merna smacked her lips together, bobbing her head, “Yyy.eee.p!” She popped the p. Clapping my hands together, “Fine with me! You do the packing and I will be the mule!”
