Revenge of the Rejected
The next day, Charles got a call from George. “I assume you were the one who sent me 5 million dollars. Was that a mistake?” George questioned, over the phone call. “No, it’s not. I need you to do something for me, George.” “Alright, I’m all ears.” “Come over to my house, and then we’ll speak about it.” After hanging up, I got ready for whatever today had in store for me. But I hoped that I would be able to get back my money before the time given to me to fetch the money for the building, expires. Soon, George got to my house, and I slowly walked down the stairs, and gallantly to the sitting room where I took my seat, and stared at George. “I guess what you need me for, must be serious for you to have sent me a sum of 5 million naira, and asked me to come to your house for a discussion.” George said, looking overly curious. Although, Charles had never thought that George would be looking this humble to him after dealing with him, but he was glad that he was willing to do anything he wants. But one thing he was sure that might take a long while for it to change was George’s pride. It must have been a part of him for years, and the scheme which Charles used against him, wasn’t one to crush his pride badly. “There were some people who argued to me that you can never change once it comes to greed, but I fought for you and told them you have. This can be a good opportunity for you to redeem yourself in front of the public.” Charles paused, and studied George. He wanted to know if he was irritated by the discussion, or wanted to know more, and George was actually dying to know more. His pride was awoken. “So, I told them that you can drop any amount for the needy. So, I decided to send you 5 million dollars because I don’t know your financial situation. All you need now is to get that 5 million dollars in cash, and hand it over to them. They are willing to sponsor a lot of children in the coming months, so tell them you’re willing to help.” Charles said to George. “Oh, my goodness. I’m indebted to you. How else will I repay this kindness, Charles?” George asked, looking really happy. “It’s fine. Just go redeem yourself right now. They will stop receiving donations in a few hours. I’ll send you the text address on your way out.”“Alright, thanks.” George left immediately, and when he got into his car, he received a text of the address from Charles, and showed it to his driver. He leaned back on his car seat, and chuckled in a low tone. “I guess Charles trust me now. But what can I do? The money is quite enticing, and 5 million dollars is too much to donate out.” George said to himself, pondering on what to do. Then he snapped his fingers. He had decided to take back three million dollars, and donate two million dollars. They drove off to the bank first, and he withdrew about two million naira, and got back into his car, signaling for his driver to move on. Soon, they got to the location of the address, and he got down from the car. “You can stay here. I’ll be back soon.” He instructed his driver, and headed to the deserted garage. He didn’t bother allowing his guards to tag along from home, because he was okay with going to Charles’ house without his guards since he now knew Charles had no intention of doing something evil to him. “Hello?” He called out, and waved his hand around to take any web out of his way. He walked in further until he got to the middle, and saw a few men dressed in black suits. Then he also sighted the masked man, sitting opposite an empty chair which was probably meant for him to sit on. “Why do these politicians or influential people look like people in the mafia?” George thought to himself as he walked up to them. Now, he was wishing he had actually brought his guards along. “Wow. Charles really did it.” He heard the masked man speak, looking surprised. George was glad to hear that the man was pleased, and he felt thankful to Charles who gave him such a nice opportunity. He could also calculate that it would give him a good profile and image as word will certainly spread out that he donated a huge sum of money. “Hello. Good day, I am George, and I’m here to make a donation of two million naira for the children.” George introduced, holding the brief case, tight. Then the masked man and his goons, burst out into laughter. He signaled to his goons to hold George tight, and tie him up, which they did. Although, George put up a fight, but he was no match for a few goons who were trained for this. “So, is that what Charles said to you that made you come?” “What do you mean by this? Is Charles involved in this?” George questioned, beginning to feel betrayed. The masked man laughed again. “You know what? I’m still trying to understand how Charles got to trick you. A whole George coming here to donate 2 million naira. There must have been something else that pushed you to come.” The man leaned against his chair, and placed his index finger on his philtrum. “Well, I don’t need to think much about that.” He said, and turned to his goons. “Hey boys, it’s time to move.” They covered George’s head with a black sack, and while George was screaming and shouting out loud, one of them injected him with a sedative. “That’s a good one. He squeals like a pig.” The masked man complimented the one who sedated George. Unknown to George, these people were not the random people who get revenge randomly and in a normal style. A whole out of the ordinary style had been prepared for him.
