Revenge of the Rejected
Vera knew instantly that Charles had something else he was cooking up again, and she was interested to hear it. “Alright.” She responded, then brought out her phone to call James. James phone rang thrice before he answered it, and then he told her that he would be on his way immediately. “You can have your seat, Vera. You’re not planning on waiting for James before you sit, are you?” Charles said and took a sip of his drink. Vera smiled, and then sat down on the couch. There was silence between them as Vera couldn’t ask about Mr. Grayson who had probably left in anger. So, she decided to work on her phone while waiting for James to arrive. Soon, James arrived, and exchanged greetings with both Charles, and Vera. “You said we have a master mind plan.” James initiated the conversation as he dropped his phone on the table. “Yes. We are going to double cross those who think they are smarter than me, especially that they keep planning my downfall, despite teaching them a lesson.” Charles replied as he sat up. “Okay, I’m all ears. What are we to do?” James asked, all in. Charles turned to Vera who was quiet while listening to Charles. “Vera, I want you to dig up dirty information on George. Something we can put in paper as a file.” “Alright, I’ll be on it.” She responded formally. “While James, there’ll be something else for you to do. Vera, you can leave. That’s all for now.” “Alright.” Vera said, then left their midst. After Vera left, Charles resumed his discussion. “Alright, I have asked someone to bring in a reporter who is meant to plan my downfall. There is something I’ll need you to do, because forcing him won’t work out but would only give him something more to write about, regarding me.” Mark was at home, in his bedroom, thinking of how to get dirt on Charles, or how to frame him enough for people to believe. He continued to stare at the ceiling, without an idea. Although, it was painful enough that Angela asked him to prove his worth first, before giving him money, but then he reasoned it as well that he needed something to bring back the respect he deserved. He saw it as a challenge, one that he himself didn’t want to back down from. “I will ensure I crush you, Charles.” He thought to himself with anger. Suddenly, he sat up abruptly. And an evil smile crept up on his face. He had finally thought of what to do to drag Charles down which he was 80% sure it was going to work. He stood up immediately, and strode downstairs, heading off to the door. “Mark, where are you heading to in a rush?” Mrs. Adam called out to him as she turned her eyes away from the TV. Mark walked back to her with a smile on his face. “I’m going to see Charles, grandmother.” He responded with pride. “Charles? What for? So he can eat up your remains?” Mrs. Adam looked at him in disbelief. Mrs. Adam had clearly lost faith in him, and didn’t want him to do something that would drag down all she has built for years. “Grandma, that hurts my pride, but I’m going to overlook that. I have a plan, and I can assure you that Charles is going to experience some serious defeat. Then can you tramp on him as you like.” Mark assured Mrs. Adam. “But Angela already has a plan which is going to work out as she has the governor’s back up. Whose back up do you have?” “Grandma, just have faith in me one more time. Even if Angela has a plan, we have to have a plan B in case hers doesn’t work out.” Mark tried to persuade her. Mrs. Adam sighed heavily as if she were in deep thought then looked back at him. “Alright, I believe you have something up your sleeves this time. Don’t fail us.” Mark was glad that he was finally able to persuade his grandmother, and was more convinced that things would go well, since he had her support and belief in him. He walked out of the sitting room, and headed off to Charles’ home. While in the car, his heart beamed with joy, and enthusiasm and he couldn’t wait to get to his house, especially to know if Charles was going to fall into his trap. Soon, he got to Charles’ home, and he was allowed to enter. He met Charles sitting comfortably on his sofa and then he cleared his throat. “What brings you here, Mark?” Charles questioned with a straight face.“Well, I came here because I realized my mistakes. And I’ve come here to apologize humbly.” Charles was taken aback and couldn’t believe that Mark of all people came here on his own accord to apologize humbly. “I guess you came here to apologize because you need something, isn’t it?” “No. I actually came here to make up for all mistakes, and to show you that I have realized them, and do not have any grudge against you. So, instead, I have come to provide you some information which would be useful for you.” Charles scoffed, and sat up. “What information could you possibly have that would be useful for me? Please get out of my house before I call my guards to throw you out.” Charles said, feeling disgusted. “No…No. I have something useful. My…my sister, Angela is currently trying to partner up with the governor, and also planning your downfall. I know that’s wrong, and she won’t listen to me even if I tell her not to, so I’m going to provide you with information about their meeting, and plans.” Mark offered confidently. Charles looked satisfied with this offer, and thought deeply within him. He wasn’t so sure about Mark, but he felt he could be serious about it since he was giving him information that would make him avoid whatever hole Angela and George had dug for him. “I’ll think about it.” Charles said. Mark had a sinister smile on when Charles wasn’t looking, and he felt on top of the world. “I always knew part of you was gullible. Well, prepare to be crushed by me.” Mark thought to himself.
