Revenge of the Rejected
“Charles is not who you think he is. He was my ex husband and I have a lot of dirty information about him.” Angela said to George whose ears were ringing with excitement. “Wow. So you were once married to that man. Tell me everything you know. You will be rewarded handsomely.” Angela, motivated by a deep desire to avenge her family's loss and expose Charles's true character, began to spill all the secrets she knew about him. In George's well-appointed office, Angela's voice was quiet as she let out every detail. "You see, Mr. George, Charles was once a poor delivery man, struggling to make ends meet. His sudden rise to wealth was nothing short of miraculous. In fact, his father kicked him out because he’s an illegitimate son. My family took him in and he abandoned us when he became rich overnight.” George's brows raised with intrigue. "A delivery man? That's quite a transformation. It would take years to become a billionaire from being a delivery man. Charles must have done some dirty work.” Angela nodded, her eyes focused as she continued her revelations. "Yes, but it gets even more interesting. Charles took our family company from us through a competition, a contest he manipulated to his advantage. He left us with nothing while he enriched himself. He does that to many people. We are not the first to suffer such cruelty from him.” George leaned back in his chair, absorbing the information. "This is a compelling story, Angela. It could be a game-changer in the upcoming election. If people get to see how manipulative he is, how he will stop at nothing to get richer, they will not vote for him.” Angela's voice grew more determined. "That's what I thought, Mr. George. We can make it look like Charles is a fraudster who accumulated his wealth by stealing from others and taking their profits. I still believe it’s true because no one has been able to explain how he got rich overnight. Many people will buy the story and my family will get revenge for what he did to us.” George was clearly impressed with Angela's initiative. "I like your idea, Angela. We can use this to our advantage. We'll expose Charles for what he really is, someone who used deceit and manipulation to achieve his success." However, the next step of the plan took Angela by surprise. George turned his attention to her with a compelling offer. "Angela, I need you to testify in front of the press and join me in an interview to share this information with the public. But I understand that it's a big step, and I don't expect you to do it without proper compensation." Angela hesitated, her mind racing as she considered the consequences of going public with this information. "I'm not sure, Mr. George. Going public with this might put me in the spotlight, and it could be risky. Charles is a very dangerous man and he might come after my family.” George leaned forward, his eyes locking with Angela's. "I understand your concerns, Angela. But if you decide to be my partner in this endeavor, I'm willing to offer you $5 million, and you'll receive $1 million weekly for your cooperation. This should ease any concerns you might have." The mention of such a substantial sum seemed to shatter Angela's doubts. She couldn't help but imagine the possibilities that this kind of money could bring into her life. Her resolve solidified, and she nodded, her voice more resolute. "I'll do it, Mr. George. Let's bring Charles down." A satisfied smile spread across George's face as he extended his hand for a firm handshake. "You've made the right choice, Angela. Now, let's get to work." With a sense of urgency, George reached for his phone and began dialing numbers, connecting with some of his friends in the television industry. Most of them worked hand in hand with him to leak secrets about his opponent every election. He bribed them with money, making it impossible for them to turn down his offer. "Hello, Jim, I have a job for you.” He spoke into the phone to one of his trusted allies. “I need you to help me leak some information to the press, but keep it under wraps for now. We want to make sure it's released strategically." “Who are you talking about? I can do it within 24 hours.” “Charles. Charles Lincoln.” George replied with a wicked glint in his eyes. “Send me everything about him that you want the press to have. We will bring this man down for you.” “Good.” George smiled coldly. "I want to destroy Charles, and nobody will stop me." ***************************** As Angela returned home, the anticipation and tension in the air was overwhelming. She entered her sitting room to find her grandmother and her brother, Mark waiting for her. The moment they laid eyes on her, they jumped to their feet, eagerness etched across their faces. Angela barely had a chance to take off her coat before they began bombarding her with questions about her meeting with George. Mark leaned in, his curiosity evident. "Angela, tell us, how did it go? What did George say? I hope you were able to convince him to work with you.” With a sense of satisfaction, Angela couldn't help but smile as she recounted the meeting. "It went better than expected. George offered me $5 million to speak out against Charles in an interview, and an additional $1 million weekly if I agree to be his partner." Mrs. Adams couldn't contain her excitement and admiration for Angela's initiative. "Angela, that's remarkable! You've done a fantastic job. George's offer is generous, and it's a sign of how much he values the information you provided. We can use that money for so many things. If you play your role well, you can convince George to purchase the ownership rights of our company back when he wins the election.”Mark chimed in, a proud smile on his face. "This is exactly what we needed to expose Charles for who he really is and to make sure he doesn't become the City Governor. Angela, you've made the family proud." Angela's heart swelled with a mixture of determination and relief. Their plan was in motion, and she had played an important role in setting it in motion. “Charles, you’ll regret messing with me or my family.” She swore silently to herself.
