Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 219

“Come on in.” Andrew urged. “That’s your bathroom. Why are we going into a bathroom?” Charles asked, looking really baffled. “Yeah, I know. Can you just trust me, Charles?” Andrew chuckled, sensing Charles’ nervousness. Then Charles took in a deep breath, and let it out. “Well, let’s take this risk now that we are here.” Charles thought to himself. “Alright.” He spoke, and walked up to Andrew who held the bathroom door open. As he walked past Andrew, and walked into the bathroom, Andrew shut the door behind him, then he pressed a button right beside the shower, and a rectangular space opened like a door. “What’s this?” Charles asked, looking amused while he was staring at that rectangular space, pushing inside like it was creating a pathway for them. Then it stopped, and opened. Charles’ eyes widened in amusement. He hadn’t walked into the pathway, and although, all he was seeing was darkness, he had a feeling that there was something more that could sweep him off his feet. “Come on, let’s go in.” “I hope there’s a way to get out back.” Charles asked, trying to be certain everything was in control. Andrew chuckled again, and connected the heel of his palm on his face, then shook his head. “You can trust me, Charles.” Andrew then walked in at first, and Charles followed after. Charles carefully took his steps, ensuring he wasn’t going to fall. “Don’t you feel we might need a torch or something?” “You don’t have to worry, Charles. As we walk further, we’ll get just what we need.” Andrew assured. Not long after Andrew spoke, blue lights in form of footprints began to illuminate their steps, and this made Charles feel more comfortable. As they got into the main place, Andrew turned on a switch which controlled the lights, and as the lights were turned on, Charles covered his eyes for a moment as they were too bright for him, and he wasn’t expecting it.Then he began to open his eyes gradually, and behold, his eyes fell on magnificent things. It was a whole new world beyond Andrew’s bathroom. A new world in the sense that in this building, there was a lot of technological products that blew the mind. “Wow. I’m… I’m perplexed.” Charles muttered out, finding it difficult to believe that he wasn’t dreaming. “Feast your eyes on all of it, but I believe you remember we came here for something, so I think that’s what we should hurry up to do.” “Yeah, I know. But look at all this.” Charles said, looking stunned. “What do you plan on doing with all these products?” He asked, out of curiosity. He knew Andrew ought to have sold it, but seeing as he hadn’t, he wondered what he wanted to do with it. “Well, they are just my inventions. I don’t intend on selling them out. I just make these products, and store them here.” “But from what I know, you plan on leaving. Are you going to move out these products?” “Obviously. I may consider selling them out, though, but it’s going to be a faraway country.” Andrew spoke. “Oh, I see.” Charles had it in mind for him to have a brief business with him, but that wasn’t the right time, so he decided to wait. “Alright, I’ll be right back. While I’m gone, you can walk around, staring at the different innovations out here.” “Alright then. Take your time.” Charles looked around excitedly, happy to see tech products that could earn him billions of dollars if he was the one who made them. “DO YOU WANT IDEAS THAT WILL EARN YOU BILLIONS OF DOLLARS?” The system popped up its question, and Charles felt skeptical about the sudden help which the system wanted to give to him. He knew that this system upgrade was going to make him do something uncomfortable before getting what he wanted, so it was quite difficult for him to say yes. This particular system was direct, while the other system only made him complete tasks which were fair enough, compared to the upgraded system. Then his phone beeped, and he checked to see that the message was from Andrew. “I also forgot to tell you that the system would also try to win your heart, and convince you into keeping it, by doing things for you. But that’s only for a short while. If the system upgrade stays in use for too long, even I myself won’t be able to degrade it.” Another text message then came up. “Only if I make another upgrade that is much better than it in all ways, and that would take a lot of time. Within that time frame, a lot of things would have happened which could bring regrets to you and the people around you.” Charles let out a deep sigh, and resonated with it. It was best for him to ignore the bribe which the system was trying to tender. After all, with or without the system, he could still bring up nice ideas that would fetch him money. And with the original system was doing well in earning him all he desired and wanted. Only a greedy man would want to join hands with the system upgrade, and then he would suffer for that decision he made, at the end. “I disagree. You can get away with your benefits. They are never that beneficial for me anyways.” “BUT I SAVED JAMES, WHICH IS VERY COMMENDABLE. AND YOU’RE HAPPY AND PLEASED WITH THAT.” “And you made me do things which were really not easy. In fact, this conversation is over!” Charles raised his voice, almost getting frustrated. He didn’t want to hear any more from the system, and that kind of worked. Not long after that, Andrew walked in with some tools. “Alright, we don’t have much time. Lie down here.” Andrew urged Charles, pointing at a surgical bed. Charles laid down on it without questions. He also wanted to get it done without any hitch. “Are you ready?” Andrew asked. “Yes.”
