Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 217

Although, this was good news for Charles, but like any human, he needed to process his thoughts to catch up with the flow of things. “Well, I’ll give you space to rest some more. You’ve had a long day.” Andrew said as he rose to his feet, and then patted Charles on his shoulder, and left. Charles leaned on the sofa’s headboard, and let out a deep breath. He was beginning to see his mother in a new light; like she was a great person who was capable of intimidating people with her wealth, status, and influence. “Well, I guess it’s my father who rid her of her all she was, and all she had, making her suffer like she deserved it. Since that’s the ay he played it out, then I’ll be the one to re-instate my mother’s name. I will carry on her legacy, and make her proud, wherever she is.” Charles thought to himself. Then he picked up his phone, and texted James and Vera. “I’m fine. Will see you guys later.” After sending out the texts to them, he laid back on the sofa, wanting to get more rest. In a few hours, the sun would be out, and he and Andrew still had more to do and talk about. ~ The sun had risen, and Charles had woken up, waiting for Andrew to come out of his bedroom. He checked the time, and discovered it was 8am. He felt Andrew could have woken up as people like him do wake early. But he couldn’t try to go into his bedroom to wake him up, because that already was going to be a rude action. Then he rose to his feet, and looked at the small apartment. He expected more from a tech expert like him. Someone like him would have gained a lot of money, and even made some wonderful things for himself. “I guess he just prefers to live this way.” Another thought came through in his mind. He looked at the walls, and all he saw were frameworks of tech products which got him intrigued. He could spend all day, staring at the frameworks, and photos as these products had a way of capturing one’s attention. They were beautiful, fancy, and looked like one of high quality. The longer he stared at them, the intense the urge to make something unique, became. “Having a nice morning?” he heard a familiar voice, and then turned around to look.“Good morning. Yes, these frameworks, and pictures of these tech products are really mesmerizing.” Charles responded with a smile. Then he noticed that it didn’t look like Andrew just woke up. His eyes were wide awake, and no sign of weakness or tiredness. “They are products I’ve worked on.” “Just as I thought.” Charles uttered with a slight smile. “I see you’ve woken up for quite some time now.” “Yeah, I have. I actually came to check on you an hour ago, but you were still sound asleep, and didn’t want to disturb you. You know, you were injected with something dangerous, so you needed as much rest as you could have to hasten your healing.” “Oh, I see.” “Yeah. So, how about we get to the reason we met?” “Yeah, sure.” Charles responded, delighted that a solution to one of his problems was on the horizon. “Alright, follow me.” Charles wondered where else he had to follow him into, in his small apartment; except he wanted them to go into his room. “Probably he kept a few of his stuff in the bedroom, and his bedroom might actually be bigger than expected.” Another thought evaded Charles’ mind. “By the way, were you really serious about helping me fight off my enemies?” “Why did you ask?” Andrew questioned, surprised he would ask again, or perhaps doubt his words. “Well, that’s because from the little I’ve come to deduce from your lifestyle, you’ve been under the grass. Like you don’t want to be known, and you’re avoiding as much eyes as you can. So, it’s quite a bit not convincing that you meant what you said. More like you said it just to make me feel better at that moment.” Andrew chuckled, and then halted as he turned to face Charles. “I actually meant it, but the only difference is that it’s going to be short-term. I don’t plan on staying here for long because there are some things I need to do in another far away city. So, I’m going to dedicate the rest of my time here, to you.” Andrew revealed to Charles. Charles nodded, fine with Andrew’s decision. He knew that before Andrew would leave, he would have contributed a lot of positive things to his life, and works. “Come on, let’s go. We have a whole lot ahead of us.” Andrew urged, and then they got to the entrance of his bedroom. As Andrew opened the door, and they walked in, Charles’ expectation dropped, and he was filled with utter shock. Andrew’s room was completely normal and ordinary. Worst of all, it was just moderately sized; not even spacious enough to take in a mind-blowing large-sized tech equipment. “Uhm… Why are we here?” Charles asked, out of curiosity, having a feeling that it could be a mistake. “Oh, I needed to pick something up.” Andrew replied, then walked into his bedroom to pick up something which Charles wasn’t able to see. “Alright, let’s go.” Charles was already on his way towards the living room’s exit door when Andrew called him back. “This way, Charles.” Andrew uttered, and Charles looked back, wondering where else he needed them to go again. “The bathroom!” Charles exclaimed with his eyes wide open. He began to see Andrew in another light which he didn’t want to come to terms with. He fluttered his eyelids, cleaned his face with his hands, and scratched his hair, looking left and right weirdly before turning to look at Andrew again. “Could he be crazy?” Charles muttered under his breath, beginning to feel that his only light of hope had been dimmed.
