Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 177

Amelia was scared to her bones that James had been shot, and he was probably dying. “911, please my man was just shot. Please come over right now. We’re at the lone street after St. Thompson’s street. Please hurry up! Someone’s dying.” Amelia spoke quickly, crying like a baby. “Please be calm, ma’am. We’re on our way.” The woman assured her, and Amelia hung up the call. She was about to go out of the car to check on James, but before she could unbuckle her seat belt, she heard a knock on the car window. With fear, she slowly looked towards the window and to her dreaded thought, it was one of the men in black suit. He was smiling menacingly at her, then he signaled to her to wind down. Amelia was too scared to wind down as she didn’t know what he would do to her, but James was still out there, and she was worried about him. Recalling that she had reached out to 911, she felt a bit assured that they would come for them soon, and before these goons would do anything to them, they would have interrupted to save them. She wound down, and then the man poked his head inside the car. “He’s got a nice car.” He complimented, looking inside the car, and then his gaze went back to Amelia. “And a beautiful woman.” Amelia felt uncomfortable, and her skin crawled, looking at the way he stared at her. “Where’s he? What did you do to him?” She questioned, moving far from his reach. “It all depends to you. If you do not come out willingly, he could die. But if I have to come in myself, I can’t guarantee his safety.” He spoke, with a smile that Amelia found annoying. Amelia felt threatened, but she still had no choice than to come down from the car. She unbuckled her seat belt, and then got down from the car, from the other side. The man chuckled lightly, and held her hand. Amelia wanted to withdraw from him, but he looked at her coldly. “You have to behave yourself, or you’ll regret it.” He threatened her, and that sent chills down her spine. She nodded her head, trembling, and holding her phone close to her. Then he brought her close to where the others were, but she didn’t see James. All she saw was a trail of blood somewhere.“What happened to him!” She grabbed the man by his collar, with tears filling her eyes up. “Love is so cute.” He said, in a mocking tone. “First of all, call 911 back, and tell them you’re fine.” “Why should I do that? I don’t know if he’s fine or not. Why should I lose on both ends?” Amelia questioned, with her heart beating crazily. “Well, you will lose on both ends if you do not do as I say.” Since Amelia wasn’t too sure of what had happened to James, she decided to do whatever they say, to avoid making the situation worse. She dialed 911 and after a few rings, they answered her call. “Hello, 911, what’s your emergency?” A man asked her this time. “I called about fifteen minutes ago that we were having an attack, and my man is under an attack, we’re fine now. So, you can withdraw the other cops who are on their way to get us.” “Are you certain? Are you sure you’re not being threatened or sort?” “I’m… I’m fine.” Amelia managed to speak. Then she hung up before they began to ask further questions. “Now, follow me.” The man said, with a smile. On the other hand, Charles was at the dining room, still wondering what they system had in mind for him. Usually, he would have finished up his food, but he had barely taken up to five bites from the food. “Sir, is anything wrong? Is the food perhaps not to your taste, this morning?” Martha asked, looking concerned. Charles looked up to her, and then back at the food. “No, that’s not it. I just don’t have a great appetite this morning.” “Oh, if you don’t mind. I can get you warm tea, or fruits.” “Yeah, sure. I don’t mind taking warm tea.” “Alright then.” Not long after Martha came to him, Vera rang the doorbell, and Martha had to divert to the living room to get the door. As vera walked in, she could already feel Charles’ aura, like something was wrong with him, but she didn’t want to ask about it as she knew the kind of man Charles was. He wasn’t going to say a word about what was going on with him. Instead, she decided to proffer what could be a solution to his dampened soul. “Good morning, Charles.” Vera greeted, with a slight smile on her face. “Good morning, Vera.” He responded, giving her attention. “So, I came to remind you on the vacation you had in mind to go on? How about you get prepared for it, tonight? And then you can come back, a week later.” “I almost forgot about that. When are we having the competition?” “The date still hasn’t been released. Probably we got a fake news about it.” Vera replied professionally. “Alright then. But as the competition date isn’t out, yet, I’m not sure I can go on a vacation. Won’t like to be taken unprepared.” “You don’t have to worry about that. The people who need to get more prepared than you should, are your workers. So, you have no worries.” “Alright, if you say so. Then help me make preparations for a vacation to France, then.” Charles requested, then sat up as Martha brought him warm tea. “Thanks.” “Miss Vera, would you like to have anything?” Martha asked, in a caring tone. “No, thank you. I’m fine.” Charles sipped his warm tea, and then his phone buzzed. He picked up his phone, then opened the text that he got from a strange number. IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY WITH WHAT I DESIRE, THEN YOU MIGHT HAVE TO LOSE YOUR CLOSEST ALLY, JAMES.
