Revenge of the Rejected
"Look, my father can pay twice the price for the car. I'm very sure he's busy with work and that's why his phone is switched off." Tyson said desperately to the manager. "I'm sorry but like I said earlier, the car will be sold to whoever can pay for it immediately." The manager replied. He was still holding Charles's card which he wanted to use to process his payment. "Don't sell the car to this man. He's a fraud." Tyson spat. "It's an insult to me that you want to sell this car to him. Do you know who my father is? He can buy any car he wants in this city. If you sell the car to this man, you'll be making a big mistake." The manager chuckled and ignored Tyson. He knew the kind of person he was because he has met a lot of his kind during business transactions. He knew Tyson was just an entitled son who believed everyone had to worship him because his father was a wealthy man. Everyone including Tyson watched with anticipation as the manager swiped Charles card. Tyson believed the card would decline and he was more than ready to mock Charles. Even the manager was anxious because 10 million dollars was such a huge amount for anyone. The machine beeped. "Payment successful." "What?" Tyson uttered before he could stop himself. He could not believe what was happening right before his eyes. The manager staggered back with shock when he saw that the transaction was successful. "This is unbelievable." He said to himself. They hadn't made sales of 10 million dollars in a day for close to two years. Charles was the first man throughout his time as manager of Visiondot to ever pay for a car worth 10 million dollars instantly. He immediately wanted to know more about Charles because he had never heard about him in the city. Some of the staff present were whispering among themselves and staring at Charles in awe. "I can't believe he just paid for the latest model." "He doesn't look like he can even afford our cheapest car." "He's such a humble man. Who could have guessed he had 10 million dollars in his account?" "If he has 10 million dollars in his account to buy a car, does that mean he has more?" "I can't believe they are still some low key billionaires in this city." A lot of questions were flying around as everyone was shocked by Charles purchase. No one in the city had been able to buy their latest model because of the price. They didn't expect an unknown man with no high status or rank to be able to afford it. "The transaction was successful, Mr. Charles," the manager informed him as he returned his card. "We will start processing the necessary documents immediately." "Thank you so much." Charles said and turned to Vera with a smile. "I told you I'll get the car, didn't I?" Vera was now beaming with smiles. She felt proud to be his personal assistant. "I didn't doubt you for even a second. I'm happy that rude salesman got the punishment he deserved. Your step brother must be ashamed of himself now." Charles looked at Tyson who was fuming with rage. He was swelling inside with joy because he finally put Tyson in his place. Tyson stormed toward the manager in anger. "How dare you ignore me? How could you sell that car to him?" He barked. The manager who had completely lost his respect for Tyson chuckled. "You came in here and claimed you wanted to buy our latest model but you didn't have 10 million dollars in your account. Don't you think you're a fraud?" "I was going to pay with a check." Tyson responded but he was obviously lying. "Do you think I will walk around with 10 million dollars in cash?" "Then you should have simply paid with your card like Mr. Charles did." The manager shrugged. "It's such a shame that you're so boastful about your wealth but you can't afford our latest model. You looked down on Mr. Charles but he paid for it without a drop of sweat. Maybe you should learn to be humble." Tyson gritted his teeth in anger while the manager beamed with smiles. Tyson turned to Charles, his eyes glimmering with anger. "This is not over yet. I promise you." Charles chuckled slightly. "Did your father disappoint you? It's such a shame you have no money to your name." "Don't you dare talk about my father like that!" Tyson warned. "Or what?" Charles challenged him. "What are you going to do if I talk about him? You should consider working for yourself instead of depending on him to pay for everything you buy. You're a lazy, spoilt brat and I blame him for making you like this." "You're just jealous that I'm living a good life and you're not. You're just bitter because you were cast away as a child. Father doesn't consider you his son and no matter what you do, you will be a bastard forever." Charles licked his lips. "I don't need him to consider me as his son. I'm capable of taking care of myself. Unlike you, I don't need him to provide for me. I have all the money I want." Tyson's phone rang at that same time and it was his father calling. He quickly took the call, hoping to convince his father to pay for the car. He increased the volume of the car so that everyone could hear him brag to his father. "Dad, I want to get a new car and I'm already at the car dealership." "What happened to your old car? Why are you spending money lavishly?" His father asked to his disappointment. Charles struggled to hide his laughter as he heard those words. "The last car I got is old and Carmart has a brand new model for sale. It's really exquisite and I want to purchase it." "How much is this car?" Tyson flashed Charles a dirty grin. "It's 10 million dollars but I have 2 million dollars in my account. I just need 8 million dollars to pay for it." "What?" His father yelled. "8 million dollars? Where do you expect me to get that kind of money from?" Shame washed over Tyson and he immediately regretted increasing the volume of the call. "Dad, please just–" His father ended the call immediately, leaving Tyson ashamed. He glanced around and saw how everyone was giggling and mocking him. After boasting of being rich, his father had disappointed in front of everyone, especially Charles. Right then, he wished the ground would open and swallow him up.
