Revenge of the Rejected
Charles asked the driver to turn around immediately, and while his guards were baffled, and wondered what was going on, they had no choice than to stay calm. Charles was beginning to have different thoughts about what Angela had to say about the poisoning. He was beginning to suspect that he might have detained the wrong person. Although, he felt a bit excited about it not being the maid, because he really wanted to believe that she wasn’t the one who tried to eliminate his life for personal gains. As soon as he got to the station, they allowed him to see Angela, one on one. “So, this can make you rush over to the station to see me.” Angela scoffed, and smacked her lips. “Get straight to the point. You know about the poison. Speak!” Charles urged her, not ready to dilly-dally around. “Alright, actually, I thought about this deeply. I thought about what I could do to make you know that I have really changed, and deserve a second chance.” “So?” “I decided to confess of my wrong doings, and I swear never to do it again. If you can reduce my sentence to 2 years or a year, I’ll really appreciate it. And when I get out of prison, I’ll turn a new leaf.” “What did you do, Angela?” Charles questioned sharply, running out of patience. Then Angela looked down like she was truly sorry for what she was about to say. “I’m the one who poisoned you that day. It was a poison with slow-effect, and I guess you ate dinner after that, that’s why you didn’t know it was me. I wasn’t expecting you to live through it.” Angela confessed, and looked into Charles’ eyes. Charles stood up as he gave the wall a good fist. “I’m sorry. I was blinded with anger, and pain.” Angela pleaded.Charles wanted so bad for the court to add to her what she was charged for, but he decided to allow her spend five years in prison. After all, she was being punished for all she had done to him, even if the 5 years was little compared to all she had done. Then he called the attention of the head of the station to speak with him. “Good day, Mr. Charles.” “Good day. I asked to see you because I want my maid released now. I have found out she isn’t the one behind my poisoning.” “Hmm. And how did you confirm that, Mr. Charles?” He questioned, out of curiosity. “I got the culprit, and the culprit is being punished already. So, all I need now is for her to be released.” “Hmm. Mr. Charles, we hope you’re not just trying to release her because you’re under pressure, or you’re being threatened.” “I’m not. Please hurry up with the process. I’m quite pissed at myself for making her go through a punishment that isn’t meant for her.” Charles uttered, and then his phone rang. It was a call from Vera. “Shit I forgot.” He cursed under his breath. Then he faced the chief again. “Please release her soonest. I have somewhere I need to be at, right now.” Charles said, then stood up. He walked out of the station, and walked up to his car. “I need you to stay here, and escort Mrs. Campbell to my house. Tell her to wait until I get back home.” He instructed one of his guards. “Alright sir.” Charles got into his car, and they took off to the company with his other guard. While in the car, he brought out his phone, and dialed James’ number. “Hello boss.”“I think you need to make this happen tomorrow instead. I’ll resume work tomorrow.” “Uhm, alright, boss. I hope there’s no problem?” James asked, out of concern. “None.” Charles replied, then hung up. Soon, they got to his company, and he was greeted by every worker until he got to the conference room which was filled with the production workers, and Vera who were waiting for him. As they saw him, they all stood up, and greeted to acknowledge his presence. “Good day everyone, I’m sorry for getting here late. Had something urgent which came up.” Charles apologized, then gestured for them to take their seat as he did. “Alright, so what do you have to show me?” Charles inquired, staring at them all. Then the team leader of this particular production crew stood up. “We planned to make a mini robot that can detect your mood, and make you feel better.” The team leader spoke, and turned on the projector. The projector showed the drawn design of the mini robot, and a practical sample of what they wanted to attribute to the robot. “And how long can this effect we’re talking about, last?” Charles inquired, pleased with what they had shown him. “We are working towards it for it to last for hours, but we can only know how long it would last until we make it, and test it as well.” He responded politely. “Alright, so, I like the plans you have. So, discuss with Miss Vera here, how much you’ll need to make this happen. She’ll pass the necessary details across to me.” Charles finalized, then stood up. They were all happy that Charles had accepted what they had visualized, and it made them even more eager to work. Charles walked out of the conference room, and Vera followed after.“Are you heading somewhere else? Why were you late?” Vera asked, out of curiosity. “I found out that it wasn’t Mrs. Campbell who poisoned me. I ordered her release, and she should be at my home right now, so I want to see her.” Charles spoke, and then got a call from his guard who he had left with Mrs. Campbell. “Sir, she is home now.” “Alright, thanks.” He appreciated him, and ended the call. Then he turned to Vera. “I have to go now. Great job by the way.” Charles got into the car as soon as he was out of the lobby, and drove off to his home. On getting home, he met Mrs. Campbell in the sitting room, but with all he belongings, out with her.
