Revenge of the Rejected
Charles' ears were at alert, and keen to hear what the cop had to say. He was so ready to deal with whoever was behind it. “It's Miss Angela, and Mr. Jefferson who sponsored the arsoners to work against your building.” The cop revealed, and a gasp of shock escaped my mouth. He couldn't believe that both of them would go to an extent of setting my buildings on fire. Why would they do that to me? Charles felt that even if they wanted to get back at him, they wouldn't get to that extent. Now, he knew how much those two hated him. “Alright, thanks officer. Please arrest them. There is no way they're going to go scot-free.” “Noted, sir.” Charles hung up and felt even better that he had found out the culprit, regardless of who they were. Then he began to make calls, fixing up investment deals with those who were more than ready to receive his investment. He needed to make those investments just so he would remain financially stable as he couldn't afford to keep losing. After spending the money as he ought to, he relaxed on his bed. The only thing he was waiting for was to deal with Angela and Jefferson. CONGRATULATIONS. YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED YOUR TASK. The system notified, and Charles nodded in approval of the skills he could get with the points he acquired. When he needed the points, he was going to use it. But as for now, he was going to face his enemies. Three days passed, and Charles was ready to be discharged. The doctor walked into his ward, and checked him one last time. "Alright, Mr. Charles. You are good to go. But please ensure you're taking rests, and do not overwork yourself. I'm also sorry for the building calamities you've experienced recently." The doctor tried to sympathize with him. "Thanks. I appreciate." James also walked in on them after completing the discharge process, and he and the and the doctor exchanged pleasantries before the doctor walked out of the ward."I've completed your discharge process. Is there somewhere you perhaps want to go to, first?" James asked as he helped Charles carry a few things. "Yes." Charles responded as they both headed out of the hospital. As soon as they got into the car, Charles sniffed in the air, and exhaled. He was glad to finally leave the confines of the hospital. "Take me to the prison." Charles instructed his driver, and his driver nodded respectfully. "So, Jefferson and Angela have been in detention since then. Will you give them a go ahead to start with the whole court process, soon?" "I will. I just need to see Angela before I give the go ahead." "Okay, noted." Charles went silent and leaned back on his car seat, grateful for the fact that he was alive to see his enemies rot in jail. Soon, they got to the prison, and Charles was allowed to see Angela. As Angela set her eyes upon him, tears strolled down her eyes as he sat before her with the glass separating them. "Charles, I'm so speechless right now. I have done a lot against you, and truly deserve to be punished." Angela uttered, with sad eyes. "I'm glad you know that you deserve punishment. In fact, one that is worse than this, but I'll leave you to the hands of the law." "I'm sorry. I didn't know what came over me, but Charles you can't do this to me. Just give me one more chance to make things right." Angela pleaded, and Charles chuckled. "You really are funny, Angela. You expect me to release you after all you've done? Come on, you should know better than me that you can never change. You'll continue to haunt me down, and I need a break from all that, so prison is the perfect place for you." "Please don't do this to me. I love you, Charles. I did all that because I was jealous. I couldn't bear the thought of not having you, so useless thoughts cane to my mind." "And that's why you partnered up with Jefferson to commit arson against me?" Charles questioned with his brows raised. "I'm so sorry. Say you love me, Charles. Please." Angela pleaded, with tears running down her eyes. Charles shook his head. He still couldn't imagine falling in love with someone like this. It was more like she was playing on his intelligence until the end. Then he brought out his phone, and texted James to start with whatever process that would make Jefferson and Angela's imprisonment as fast as possible. Then he showed the phone to her. "Look. They just started working on your imprisonment. That is to tell you that there's no escaping this. Maybe when you're done serving your term in prison, you'll have learned not to try crossing my path again." Charles said, and stood up. Angela stood up as well and placed both her hands on the glass. "Charles, I know the love you had for me is still in your heart. I... I swear it. I'm going to be a better wife and woman. Just give me a chance." "That chance is gone." Charles voiced out, and walked out without looking back at her. As he got out of the prison, James nodded to signal that he has started the process. Then they both got into the car. "The moment they have all been sentenced to a number of years imprisonment, then I'll feel relaxed." He voiced out, and James smiled, glad that they were getting back on their feet. With this, he was certain that he would always win and achieve things as long as he remained on the good side, with Charles. In the next few days, Charles ensured that Angela, Jefferson and Mrs. Penny were all given the number of years that they deserved. Jefferson and Angela ended up getting five years imprisonment, while Mrs. Penny got ten years imprisonment. Charles felt pleased with the result. At least, those years were to be enough for them to gain back their senses, and change their ways. Now, the next on his agenda were his family. He was going to focus on them, and take all that belonged to his mother, completely from them
