Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 116

Charles woke up, and was feeling much better as his health condition had improved, and he was now stable. It was only left for him to be discharged, which he had no idea when that would happen. He managed to sit up, and was still pained regarding the news of his buildings which were set on fire. “Just when I was down, you decided to strike. Whoever did this, will not go scott free.” Charles spoke out in anger. Then he picked up his phone, and a breaking news popped up on his phone. BREAKING NEWS: CHARLES LINCOLN'S JUST LAUNCHED SOLAR PANEL INDUSTRY HAS BEEN SET ON FIRE. Charles almost had a heart attack when he saw it. He quickly called James to be certain that he saw right. James’ phone only rang once before he answered it. “Did you see the news? Is it really true?” Charles questioned in disbelief. “I was about calling you, Charles. It's true. It must be the same person who burnt down the other building that did this one too. But you need to calm down.” James said, hoping it wouldn't make Charles’ health condition deteriorate. Charles felt like his whole world was beginning to break down, and he was at the verge of crying out in tears. He sacrificed his sweat and blood for his buildings, and projects, and now someone who was bitter, had to burn it. “How can I calm down, James? Tell me. How do I calm down in this situation? I need the culprit found as soon as possible before they burn down everything I have and worked for.” Charles voiced out in anger. “I will ensure that we get to the root of this.” James assured, and Charles hung up. He was beginning to feel defeated, and like those that were after him were gaining more power quickly. He knew he had so many enemies, so he couldn't tell which one of them had planned against him. All he knew was that when the culprit is found, he or she would regret ever trying to bring him down. Suddenly, the system notification popped up. “Right! Right when I need you.” Charles said, feeling hopeful. SPEND A SUM OF TEN MILLION DOLLARS IN ABOUT TWENTY HOURS. Charles was delighted. That sum of money would do a lot for him right now, and he believed that he would be able to spend it in a few hours. He reached for his phone again, and dialed Vera's number. “Hello Charles. I just got news from James that…” “It's fine. There's a more important work to do than that now. I need you to help me make research on how much it would cost to control the damages done to those buildings.” Charles instructed Vera. Although, Vera wasn't happy that those buildings had experienced fire damages because they would have to experience a loss to repair it. But she was glad that Charles somehow had money for the repairs. “I'll get back to you as soon as I can.” Vera responded. “Alright.” Charles bit his finger nails as he waited on his bed for Vera’’s response. He was hoping that things would go smoothly and won't become too chaotic until he's able to get out of the hospital and handle a lot of things. Soon, he got Vera's call back, and he answered immediately. “And what's the update?” Charles asked, impatiently. “It will cost us about five million naira, Charles. That's huge.” Vera lamented. “Look, we don't have that much time to start lamenting or dwelling on sad thoughts due to what we have lost. All we need to do now is to take action, alright?” “As for those who committed the crime, they'll regret ever doing that. I'll transfer the money to you now. Let the professionals start working on the repair.” “Alright, noted.” On the other hand, Tyson and Carlos who were watching the news, smiled, and chuckled.“It's great to see Charles go down. Whoever is behind this is great at planning, and deserves a kudos for this.” Tyson spoke out, deriving joy in watching the breaking news about Charles. “He was acting so high on his horse, thinking that he would never experience a downfall. Now, here it is.” Carlos added, and sipped his wine. “It would be a nice touch to his pain if we pay a visit to him to mock him. There could be a possibility that he would plead for us to help him.” Tyson voiced out. “I think whoever planned the arson still has more agenda. Let's wait for the third strike before we go to see him.” Carlos suggested. “Sure, alright then. That's going to be a huge blow, and that's lovely.” Mr. Lincoln walked in on them with a smile on his face. “I guess you both have seen the news.” He said as he walked up to a sofa, and sat down. Tyson moved closer to him and poured him wine in a clean glass. “Yes, father.” They both responded. “Lovely. I need that smart person to do more.” Mr. Lincoln commented, and chuckled in a raspy tone. “I feel it can't be one person behind this, though. It would take two or more people to plan something as good as this. That's my bet.” Carlos spoke. Mr. Lincoln nodded his head, realizing that Tyson was right with his assumption. It definitely wasn't the work of just one person. “One could tell that Charles has many enemies, anyways. He thinks everyone likes him except us, and that makes us the devil. Well, he's so wrong.” Tyson uttered, and sipped his wine. “Well, let's see how far these arsoners can go.” Mr. Lincoln spoke, and they all nodded, watching the news quietly. Back to Charles, he was on the hospital bed when he received a phone call from one of the cops. He answered the call immediately, and asked for an update. “We found out the main brains behind the arson, sir.” He informed respectfully.
