Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 11

Charles smiled as he received the two black card points from the system. He imagined all the skills he could purchase but decided to keep the points until he needed them. "Mr. Charles, here are your keys and other necessary documents. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for any assistance or additional information. Once again, thank you for purchasing a house from Diamond Homes." Julia said as she handed him his things. Charles nodded. "Thank you very much for your assistance." He took his things from her and moved into his mansion. Although Julia had shown him around, he hadn't taken his time to examine the house by himself. The sitting room was large, had a very bright chandelier in the middle and the sofa's were quite expensive. It was almost thrice the size of the Adam's family sitting room and everything was priceless. Charles went into the master bedroom and smiled. It was very big, had a closet and even a balcony for a great view. There was a giant bed in the middle of the room and also a desk beside it. And everything was his. He recalled how he used to sleep on a small mattress in the Adam's family mansion. Even though he was married to Angela for years, they never shared a bed. She slept on the big bed in their room while he had to manage the small mattress beside her. He also checked out the wine bar which had wines of different collections and the spacious kitchen. The only time he used to drink wine was during the Adam's family meeting. He never imagined he would ever own a house like this. After bathing and eating, Charles decided to create a blueprint to take revenge on everyone who hurt him or his mother. He decided to make a list and he would execute his revenge accordingly. He started adding people to his list starting from Angela, his wife who cheated on him and broke his family heirloom. Then Jefferson, who abused and maltreated him in the hotel and in front of the Adam's family. He also did not leave out every member of the Adam's family because they humiliated him for years. And his family for kicking him and his mother out to the streets. While he was compiling the list, he received a notification from the system. [Spend $20 million dollars within 24 hours and you'll receive 2 black card points]. His account was immediately credited with $20 million dollars. Twenty million dollars? Charles couldn't think of what to spend such money on and within twenty four hours. He already had a big house but he knew certain things were still missing. He decided it was time to buy a car. He searched online for the best car dealership in the city and found out it was the Visiondot Car Limited. After visiting their website, he decided to purchase their latest model which was up for ten million dollars. It was a Ferrari 250 Gt and no one else in the city had that model. He knew instantly it was the best car for him. Charles called one of their car salesmen to inform them that he was dropping by later in the day. "Hello, you're speaking to one of Visiondot's Car salesmen. How may I help you today?" "I'd like to purchase your latest car model which I saw on your website. Is it still up for sale?" He asked. There was a minute of silence on the phone. "Do you mean the Ferrari 250 Gt? Yes it is still up for sale." The salesman responded. "But please, who am I speaking with?" "I'm Mr. Charles Lincoln and I'll be dropping by to buy the car." "Mr. Charles, do you have any company in the city?" Charles scoffed. "No. What does that have to do with the car I want to purchase?" The salesman chuckled. "Seriously? Did you check the price of our latest model? You want to buy it and you have no company in this city? What do you do for a living? Even the wealthiest men in this city can't afford that car. You must be joking. Don't ever call this number." The salesman ended the call, leaving Charles shocked. This was not the first time a salesperson was rude to him because of his status. He took a deep breath and decided to handle it later. For the meantime, he needed a personal assistant who would take care of his finances and some of his business. There was no better person than Vera so he called her. "Hello Vera, how are you doing? This is Charles speaking." "Hello Charles," she answered. Her voice was soft and sweet. "I thought you were never going to call me again." "Why wouldn't I? Are you still at work?" He asked. "My shift ends by 4pm. Is there any problem?" "Not really. I'd like to see you to discuss some important things. Would you be available?" She hesitated for a few seconds. "Alright. I will come over soon. Where should I meet you?" "I'll text you the address. I'll be expecting you soon. Have a great day." "You too." Then she hung up. ************ Vera arrived at his mansion about thirty minutes later. She was shocked to see that he lived in Diamond Homes which was the best real estate company in the city. "Welcome to my humble home." He said as he welcomed her into his sitting room. After offering her wine and having some short conversations, he decided to go straight to the point. "I need a personal assistant. Someone that would manage my finances and help me with some of my daily affairs. I didn't think of anyone better than you. So what do you think? Would you like to be my personal assistant?" Vera's eyes widened with shock. She had hoped to get closer to Charles but didn't expect such an offer from him. "Charles, I have a job." She admitted, feeling conflicted. "I know," Charles really wanted her to accept the offer. Besides the fact that she was very hardworking and respectful, she was also beautiful. He hoped they would bond if she became his personal assistant. "But I can offer you much more money than your job. You deserve to work for someone who knows your worth and I do. If you agree to become my personal assistant, I'll pay you $2 million dollars every month." Vera couldn't hide the shock on her face when he mentioned the amount he was willing to pay her. She had never ever received that kind of money in her life. As the relationship manager of Golden State Hotel, she was only paid $25,000 per month. That was barely enough to take care of her expenses and also pay rent. She had been hoping to get a better job that could pay all her bills. The money Charles was offering was definitely going to make her live an expensive and extravagant life. And she didn't even need to work as much as she did in the hotel. "Why did you pick me for the job?" Vera asked. "Because I believe you're the right person for it. Back at the hotel, everyone mocked me. Even my brother-in-law said so many things about me to you but that didn't stop you from supporting me. I always reward people based on what they do for me and I think you deserve the best reward." Vera smiled and nodded. "Ok. I'll take the job. But I'll have to present my resignation letter to my boss at the hotel." "You don't have to do that." Charles urged her. "Nobody will question you if you don't show up for work anymore. And if anyone dares to confront you, I'll deal with them." Vera's face lit up with joy. She couldn't believe that one kind gesture at the hotel would change her life forever. "So what are your plans? Do you have any investments you'll like me to start managing?" She asked. Charles shook his head. "Besides this house, I haven't really made any investments. But I'd like to buy a car and hire some bodyguards." "Body guards?" She cocked an eyebrow. "Do you think that's necessary?" "Yes it is. Due to my status, I might begin to have some enemies. And let's not forget that my ex-wife and her family are really bitter about my success. I'll need bodyguards to protect me from any harm." "Well, if you say. I actually think security is important. So, where do you want to start from?" Charles ran his fingers through his hair. "I have already found a car that I'd like to purchase. It's the Visiondot latest model and I'll go there tomorrow to purchase it. I'd like you to come with me." "Visiondot? The best car dealership in the city?" She asked, her face covered with surprise. "Do you know how expensive their cars are?" Charles chuckled. "That's not a problem for me at all. Tomorrow, I'll buy their latest model." Vera nodded and stood up to leave. "Alright. I'll be here tomorrow morning and we'll go to purchase the car. Have a good night, Charles." Charles smiled. "Thank you Vera. Goodnight to you too." Then he watched as she walked away gracefully.
