Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 102

Charles stood on the same spot, hands. deep in his pockets, watching Carlos. Carlos was the smart and calculating type. He wasn't as reckless as Tyson, nor did he do things impulsively or without reason. For him to ask to meet up, it meant he had something to say, and it wasn't something to be taken lightly. After assessing Carlos for a while, he began to stride over to him. Charles decided in his mind not to be cowed by whatever Carlos said to him because it could just be another of his father's strategies. His father already knew Carlos rarely talked or lost his temper and was probably trying to make Charles think something big was going on. "Start talking." Charles told him, raising his wrist to stare at the expensive watch on it. "I am a very busy man." He added, dropping it and placing his hand back into his pockets. "Well, I'll cut to the chase. I also have no time to waste. Charles, back off. It's time you relax. Those properties are for our father…" Carlos started, and Charles scoffed. Those lines were so lame. He had expected something better from Carlos. Was that really all Carlos had to offer? "Is this really what you called me out to say?" Charles asked, looking around at the location they had met in. "I am a very fair person and I'd like to let you know that this could be the wrong road you're following. Our next step will be drastic and I couldn't help but feel I could give you a second chance. A chance before it is all too late, before you wish you had given it all away." Carlos explained, watching Charles intently for any sign of being intimidated but Charles showed none. Instead, he stood there with his chest puffed out, eyes glinting, lips taut and hands thrust in his pockets. It wasn't the curious expression Carlos had expected to see. "Something drastic." Charles muttered, looking at his carefully polished shoes. "I don't usually do the dirty work but I have to let you know that I can do it even if I'm not used to doing it. I will get my hands dirty to get back what is ours, because a lowly person such as you cannot simply come and take what belongs to us. I am giving you a chance to surrender before it all gets really messy, and you should seize your chance before it becomes too late." Carlos explained further, moving closer to Charles so he was standing close to him, giving him the iciest and most determined look he could, but Charles simply raised a brow and that irked Carlos greatly. "What if I say this whole conversation has been recorded?" Charles simply asked with a smirk and took two steps backwards before turning and leaving. Carlos was stunned into silence. If anything happened to Charles, all that was needed would be the recording and he wouldn't be able to get out of it Scot-free.He went after Charles briskly and when Charles was feet away from his car, he stopped him. "That's playing dirty." He spat out, getting in front of him. "I believe you said earlier that you were willing to play dirty? I guess we're the same thing after all." Charles replied, and stepped aside so he could walk freely to his car. "Charles…" Carlos called, turning around sharply but Charles' driver had already stepped down looking at Carlos menacingly. Charles didn't look back, he simply got into the backseat of the car and slammed the door. His driver however, gave Carlos one last look, before going back into the car, and slamming the door, leaving Carlos to watch them leave while simmering in rage. In the car, Charles shook his head, wondering if that was the best his father could possibly present because to him, it was lame. His pocket buzzed, and he dipped his hands into it, taking out his phone. Immediately he saw the name on it, a nasty sigh escaped him. "What do you want, Angela?" He asked, the moment he picked the call. "We couldn't finish our meeting the last time. I'll need us to talk better. I'm already at your house. Are you home?" She asked, and Charles rolled his eyes in frustration. "I'll be there very soon." He replied, and ended the call. He had decided to hear her out. He needed to know what exactly was so important that she had to keep disturbing him just so he could listen. But, the more he thought about it, the more annoyed he felt. Why would she just go to his house just like that? What if he was going to bring some important guests home with him? Surely, he couldn't let her interact with anyone important. What if he wasn't in the mood for a conversation and simply wanted to rest? Charles took in a deep breath, and rubbed his forehead with his index and middle finger. When he got to his house, he walked in and saw Angela sitted on a sofa in front of him, dressed in a short, beautiful white dress. In front of her on a little table were two cups filled with wine, a bottle of wine and plates of sliced fruits. She was placing a sliced apple into her mouth and staring at the television screen when she spotted Charles walking in. She got to her feet and immediately chewed the apple as fast as she could and swallowed it."Welcome." She said with a smile and Charles gestured for her to get back to her seat. He was exhausted and immediately he sat, he picked up the glass of wine in front of him and drank. And Angela's lips parted slightly in shock. It had been too easy. She hadn't even thought much or had to do much… Charles had drank the glass of wine she had succeeded in poisoning moments ago.
