DAWN’S POV I watched the scenario displayed in front of me with my heart racing very fast. I could not help but think about the possibility of Scarlet ever agreeing to forgive my brothers and bring healing to them. It is quite clear that no matter how one decides to look at it is solely her prerogative whether to forgive my brothers and heal them or not. Even though the witch had referred to them as brothers to Scarlet, not for once was Scarlet ever treated as blood all through her years with them, all through her life with us. Now, what right does anyone have to refer to them as her brothers, and compel her to show mercy on them even in a battle where they yawned and slain for her head? They were willing to kill her and would have if the chance had presented itself. They are my brothers, and would always be and all I want is for them to be well again. However, I am not going to be selfish in my desire and I have promised myself that no matter how this turns out, I am always going to respect my sister’s decision because deep inside my heart, I know that one day, she will look at us and consider us like family. Right at the moment, I don’t know how long it would take for my desire to manifest, but I am prepared to wait for as long as it takes and I am not going to request it or try to pressure her in any way until she is fully ready to do so. “My queen...” Nana called out to Scarlet who had not uttered a single word all along. “I don’t have a brother” Scarlet muttered with a stern face. “Would you want to see them dead?” Nana asked softly. Scarlet walked over to the Chamlee and lord Nathan and had some words with them. Although her discussion with them did not take long, to me it appeared like it was taking forever. I hope the Chamlee and lord Nathan agree to her healing my brothers and bringing them out of their present miserable state. I hope they do this if not for any other person but me. Now the fates of my helpless brother are in their hands. I continued to pray to the moon goddess as this was going on. ‘Oh dearest moon goddess, make this go well. I know that we have deeply wronged our flesh and blood which goes against your will, but look with pity upon us and touch the queen’s heart’ At last, the deliberation came to an end, and she announced. “I will heal them, but not as brothers. I am only doing this because right from the start, I don’t want them to die at my hands”My mother leaped on me and we embraced ourselves in a tight hug. Our joy knew no bond at the piece of news. I was elated and could not contain my joy. I am going to have my brothers back again. At last, my family would be complete. Truly, Scarlet has a heart of gold. I don’t think that I would have done the same if I was in her shoes. I doubt if I would have had another thought concerning Carl and Hedrick. Considering all that she passed through in the hand of the duo, if I was in her stead, I might have instantly killed them on the battlefield. I know this was not done because of blood. She said so by herself and I did not doubt her. She did this for Nana. She would never go against the old lady. Whatever be the case, I am elated that she has decided to give them another chance in life. “That is commendable, my queen” Nana smiled. “You... you... would...” my father stammered. He was elated and he obviously could not believe what he had just heard Scarlet say. “I don’t care if they live, but I don’t want their blood on me” Scarlet shunned my excited father. However, Scarlet’s disposition did not stop my father’s excitement and he was practically beaming from ear to ear as he watched Scarlet take her steps toward Carl and Hedrick. She got to them and performed some rites over their bodies and soon they were sitting on their beds, looking at all the faces in the room in surprise. It was just as if they had only been asleep all along. “Thank you, thank you...” my father bowed down endlessly before Scarlet and continued to thank her profusely but she completely ignored my father’s appreciation and walked back to the podium. There is still Mildrid to be dealt with. Too excited to take into consideration the coldness from Scarlet, my father rushed over to Carl and Hedrick, and the rest members of the family joined him. “My sons... my sons...” my mother would not stop crying. “Mo... ther” they called. “Are you both alright? Is there pain anywhere, do you want to eat something, how are you feeling?” she asked and moved her hands through their bodies. “Yes, we are fine” Carl responded. “You are not hungry... it’s been so long” my mother inquired. “No, it is strange but we are just fine” Hedrick replied.It felt so good to hear their voice again. For long, I have always dreamt of being reunited with them, and for a while, I thought that would be impossible. I thought we were going to lose them but now here they are, living and talking. “My sons... you are well again...” my father cried when he was sure that they are one hundred percent fine. He had been touching every part of their bodies all this time. “Father, we are well” they responded. “Sam, Dawn... is this you?” they asked Sam and me. “Yes, brothers. I can't believe that this is happening” Sam replied. “Dawn” Carl called. I finally regained my voice. Seeing them hail again made me too happy that I could not make use of my voice all along. “Brothers, I am so happy to see you again. You are well now” I sobbed. Scarlet had healed them, but she made it clear that it was not because she saw them as one of her. Right now, how she sees them doesn’t matter, at least she had healed them and they are alright now. Deep within me, I believe that someday, she will learn to accept every one of us as family. That is the only thing that can make me completely happy. “It was so long and we thought you were never going to make it. But the queen, she took pity on you and decided to heal you” Sam explained. Hedrick shook his head and responded. “She never wanted to kill us” he paused for a while. “Right inside the battlefield, on that very day, at that very spot, we knew who she was” he revealed. Carl added. “She is our sister and she did not want to kill us, at least not with her own hands” after he finished, a tear dropped from his eyes. “You... you did?” my father asked. “She purposely allowed you to live,” my mother uttered. “It was too late by the time we realized it and we couldn’t make it back in good health to inform you all about it. And to think that all we wanted at that time was to kill her” Carl replied. “We wronged her greatly, and she wouldn’t bring herself to take our lives” a tear dropped from Hedrick’s eyes as he spoke. “I am glad that you are well. I thought I was never going to see and talk to any one of you” I would not stop sobbing. “We are here, Dawn, and we will always be here for you” Hedrick replied. Yes, they are. They are my brothers and had always done all within their powers to protect me but now there is someone else, I have a mate now and it is his duty to watch over me. But no matter where I go, they will always be family. “Thank you, brother Hedrick,” I replied.
