SCARLET’S POV I could see the man running towards us from afar and I think he is calling out to me. Who is he and what does he want with me? It appears that he is not among those that are on this journey with us. Or could he be an escapee from the hands of the captors? Anyways, I have to wait to find out. I immediately moved to the front to shield the ladies and I said to them. “You ladies should remain behind me” I don’t know who the man is or his intents and so, we have to be careful. “My Chamlar, he looks like one of us. Maybe he is among those that took off earlier today” the guard said to me when the man’s stature was becoming a little bit clearer. “Is he one of us?” I asked. “He should be. And he is calling out to you” the second guard replied. I am beginning to hear him more clearly, he is requesting that I hold on while running and panting at the same time. He must be a Pixie and that explains why he isn’t running in his wolf form. We waited until he arrived. I remained at the front in case of any eventualities. I will not lose my guide unless I am sure of whom he is. “My Chamlar...” he called as he arrived in front of me and bowed with his knees on the ground. “We are sorry, my Chamlar,” he said panting and gasping for air. “And who are you?” I asked him. “I am one of your men, my Chamlar... a Pixie. I was in the first carriage” he replied. “I see. But why are you coming from a very far distance?” I asked. “My Chamlar, I was sent to go and enquire the cause of the blockage from our men that left ahead of us” he replied. “And what is the cause?” I asked. He took in some air before replying. “We have discovered the cause of the blockage, my Chamlar” the guard announced still panting heavily. “We found the men that were sent ahead of us and they revealed that this was a trap some rogues. The news got out that you would be plying this route to Diamond Cut and they laid a siege for you. However, our men that arrived first ambushed them leaving no single soul alive. They are sorry for not getting back to us in time for us to take an alternative route”Hearing his explanation I was relaxed. At least nothing happened to those that were sent ahead of us. As for the rogues, it was better that they took care of them because what I would have done to them if it was me who caught them is unheard of. Death would have been far better and pleasing to them in such a situation. “You are back,” the Chamlee said to the guard. He was coming from behind me. “What is the news you brought?” he asked. He stood by my side and placed his hand across my waist allowing me to rest my head on his shoulders. His touch gave me some warmth in the freezing weather. “The blockage was by some rogues. However, our men have taken care of them and that is why we see no one around” the guard replied. “Then they should have sent words updating us of the development,” the Chamlee said. That is exactly what they should have done, to send some words to us. But anyway since they have already apologized for their shortcomings, I would take that as oversight and overlook it for now. I wouldn’t be very willing to forgive such a grievous mistake that only depicts traces of untamed mediocrity. “They regret their omission and send their deepest apology. They also assured us that there are no dangers on the alternative route” he replied. “Some rogues did this?” lord Nathan who was just joining us asked. “Yes, lord Nathan. They are rogues from the east” the guard replied. “We have to take the alternative route already, there is no time to waste” I announced. “Don’t worry, my queen, I will take care of the rogues as soon as I return” lord Nathan promised. He was already filled with anger and could not wait to lay his hands on them. But it is already too late and there is no need for that as the perpetrators are already adequately taken care of. “They are all dead” I replied. “Oh, good for them,” he murmured. “How is it with the cold? It is unusually cold in this part of the globe no matter the season” he asked me. “Go out and call everyone back, we have to return to our carriages and continue on our way right away” the Chamlee directed the guards. “Feels cold, but nothing that I cannot handle. Remember I have a white wolf and she loves the cold weather. She is already fighting to come out and be allowed to run around and survey the cold vicinity” I replied.“Sure. Must feel good to her” he replied with a smile. “Now you ladies should return to your carriage, I wouldn’t want any of you catching some cold on this journey. I can't guarantee the state of medical care available in the three brother Packs” he said to the ladies. “Thank you, lord Nathan, I am already trying so hard to keep my teeth from chattering” Dawn replied. “Then you must return to the carriage right away,” lord Nathan said and took off his coat and placed it on Dawn. “Take this, it is a long-distance to the Carriage from here” Dawn, Kendra, and Mia walked away and lord Nathan walked over and took my hands. “May I?” he asked courteously. “Very well, lord Nathan” I smiled. “I will go and see to it that every one of us returns to their various carriages safely” the Chamlee informed us and walked away. “I will join you soon” lord Nathan replied. He led me like a gentleman to the carriage and wouldn’t stop talking on the way. “My lady, right now I think I should remain with you all through your stay in Diamond Cut,” he said. “No, I don’t see a need to. You have to return to your land” I declined. “I still have lord Farley over there. They don’t need me as much as you do” he replied. “We already agreed on this. I want the affairs of my other territories to be smoothly administered. None should be left to suffer” I told him. “After what I just saw, I will not be relaxed if I am to leave your side even for a day,” he said. “I am not making any promises, but that would depend on how things turn out on our visit” I replied. “Okay, I will agree to that, my lady. Right now, we already have enough of our men hovering around the three brother Packs and there is not very pleasing news on beta Tim and the witch” he said. I remained silent and he continued. “There have been cases of missing persons, and our source believes that this is related to the duo. There are even rumours that the witch now possesses a large number of human zombies. The news is not verified yet, as no one has been able to trace her hide-out” “I see. It baffles me that she remained in Diamond Cut Pack. But I know that she is no fool, so I was expecting her to be up to something appalling” I replied.“You are right, my lady. She must be up to no good and must have some hidden agenda for her to remain there. But not to worry, my secret team is still on it” he said. “Send words to them to withdraw forthwith. At this point, she must be avoided. As for the witch, I already have my plans set out for her” I replied.
