LANDON’S POV I walked into the throne room, dressed in my full military regalia. As soon as I entered, I saw the luna inside sitting on her throne. I was relieved to see that but the maid beside her she is the only one here. I walked up to her and bowed with a knee touching the floor. “Greetings, the great queen,” I said in honour. “You may stand, general Landon” she ordered and I stood. “Go take a seat” she demanded. “I am just fine, standing, my queen” I declined politely. “No, not today, Landon, I want you to sit” she persuaded. “My queen, I don’t intend to take much of your time” I insisted. “But I have all the time for you. Okay, what if we go to the banquet hall, I want to have dinner with you tonight” she requested. “My queen, I came for...” She would not allow me to finish. “I insist, Landon. I am starving and whatever you want to say can be said over the meal. I just want to treat you to something nice. I will have Rich and Lara join us. And Dawn and mama Ruth can come too” she insisted. “I cannot refuse you, my queen. I will join you for dinner” I agreed. I did not intend to stay long here in the palace, because I intend to go back to camp immediately after I was done with the luna. But it seems like I may be a bit late. Moreover, the truth is that what I want to discuss with the luna cannot be rushed as it is a bit personal to me. Maybe doing that over dinner would be the best. * We are all seated at the dining table while the maids bring in the food and drinks. The luna, the Chamlee, Lalic, Rich, Lara, mama Ruth, and me. Everyone was seated around the dining table. There are varieties of foods and drinks that I could not resist. Their aromas hit my nostril as they were expertly arranged on the table. The pleasant aromas made me realize just how hungry I was and I could not wait any longer to devour the sumptuous meals placed in front of me. “And where is Dawn?” the luna inquired. Yes, everyone is here except for Dawn. I wonder why she is not here yet.“She said she may be joining us later on if she can make it” Lara replied. I waited eagerly for the queen to forget about Dawn and order that we start eating. Even what I want to discuss with her can wait for now. All I want is to fill my belle. “Okay, we should start eating then” the luna ordered. The announcement was long-awaited. It is like a dream come true and without waiting for the others, I jumped on my meal. “The food looks nice. Must be very tasty” mama Ruth complimented before she dipped her fork into her plate. “I prepared it, especially for you all, my family” the luna replied with a smile. “Thank you for considering me like family, my queen,” I said with a mouth half-filled. “You know I can't consider you any less, Landon. You are even more than family to me, every one of you” she replied. “We are glad to be a part of you,” Lara informed her. “Yes, Chamlar, no matter the situation, we will always be by your side. You can always count on each and every one of us at all times” mama Ruth said. The luna smiled. “I am the most blessed to have you all with me and I will never trade you for anything in the whole wide world” she promised. “You are the best, mother, and we are even more blessed to have you with us as our queen. What do you say, father?” Lalic said. “Yes, mother is the best and we cannot do without her” the Chamlee replied. “When I grow up, I will be a very strong werewolf and I will defend mother from every intruder. I will make sure to fight and defeat all her enemies” Lalic vowed. That is Lalic for you. his love for the luna can never be measured. Even though he is still very young, he always steps up to protect his mother whenever he feels there is a need for it. His willingness to lay down his life for his father just to make the luna happy is still something that I cannot comprehend. She did not give birth to him but the bond they share is beyond what exists between families. He is a blessing to the luna. “Yes, we will form a squad to defeat everyone that comes against her” the Chamlee concurred. “And I will be in the front of the squad, stopping the enemies from even getting to either of you, let alone to the Chamlar” Rich said.“Oh no... that would only make you the hero. I will allow you for now but once I come of age I will be in the forefront of you all” Lalic declared. Their chats went on and on as to who is more qualified to protect the luna and I stopped paying much attention to them. Right now, I am no more as hungry as I was and my worries are back staring me in the face. I had almost forgotten why I came to see the luna in the first place and I was engrossed in the meal. I think I will have to let go of my worries for now. I will come back tomorrow and talk about it with the luna. I hope she decides to hear me out. “Come on, Lara, I will never do that. I am your man and you are not allowed to fight. I will do all the fighting going forward” Rich responded to Lara. “I am still a werewolf, Rich, don’t forget that. I am even a very strong one too. you don’t have to think about me getting easily waylaid by anyone” Lara persisted. “Even if you are a werewolf, it is my sole responsibility to protect you and I will not delegate to anyone much less you” Rich refused. “But you have seen me fight and you know how well...” Lara spoke. Listening to Rich and Lara arguing and making jokes at themselves increased the intensity of my hope in the luna. She is the only one that can help me with this. She had done it for Rich even without him asking. So I am sure that she would not want to refuse me. I will take her choice as the will of the moon goddess. I was still engrossed in my thought when the luna’s question jolted me to the present. “You can go on, Landon, what is it that you wanted so much to talk about?” She is asking me to go on. Can I still say it right here? I am already getting tensed. What if it sounds ridiculous to them? How would I be able to walk out of this room with my head comfortably sitting on my neck? Or better still, I should just give up this whole idea and think of another way. Now I don’t even know what I want anymore. “My... my Chamlar” I stuttered, still wondering if I should say it in the open. “Yes, you can talk about it here, we are one family and we can help each other at any time,” The luna noticed my discomfort, and so she urged me to go ahead. “My Chamlar, it is just that I was going to leave it for now” I replied.Lara was not having my unwillingness to go on, and so she spoke up next. “I noticed that you were engrossed in thought all along. And these days, you barely say much. Tell us the problem, Landon” she persuaded.
